Our Nokian R3 snow tires finally worn down enough to replace them after 6 winters and multiple winter cross country trips. Now I try out Nokian's newest: Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV snow tire!
Replaced our 2017 Model X Pirelli Scorpion winter tires this year with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV winter tires and have noticed a huge improvement in winter performance here in Ontario Canada. Admittedly the Scorpions were worn on the rear insides bilaterally after a long trip early on at high speeds with the suspension set on low (lesson learned :( the hard way) but after 6 seasons they only had about 20 K miles on them. I didn't think there would be that much difference. Now it feels like it has more grip than our Model Y with Continental Winter Contact tires unless I put it in off road mode essentially locking all 4 wheels. The cost of the Michelins was about the same as the Hakkapeliittas. Much cheaper than the Pirellis were in 2017. I continue to enjoy your videos with your no nonsense approach. Thank you for what you do.
