Hi, I'm Brandon, and the Teslavangelist channel is about life with our blue Model X 100D as well as Tesla, Elon Musk, solar, electric tools (GreenWorks). I also have a dry sense of humors. Disclosure: I own TSLA stock as a bull investment.

Bro. Under 1000$ is a good price. I get 2 one inch scratch on the same spot and and another one on the other end of the door. Shop said 4000$ to paint Nd blend to both panels.
Something to consider would be a weight distribution hitch. They make a massive difference in the handling and control of the trailer. Probably better range too but likely not a night and day difference with an EV. Where I live it’s actually illegal to tow a trailer of that size without one. That trailer at 4,500 dry weight is probably more like 6,000 when loaded with water and gear. That puts alot of weight on the hitch which is why you see the truck squat so much. The weight distribution hitch will level that out and give you better control over the trailer. Thanks for the info on towing range. Good for those of us considering making a vehicle change but still wanting to get out camping.
Driving in the mountains during freezing winter on my ID.4 drops range from 3.2 mi/kWh to ~1.6 mi/kWh. When this happens, my range anxiety kicks in because that requires more than 80% of charge to reach the next charging station on that route and 0-100% on my 2022 ID.4 in the 5F winter takes 2h+ even if it's fully heated.
We've had a lot of variations. Briefly all three were rear facing in the 2cnd row. Once the oldest was forward facing, she was in the middle making it easier to hand her things, and the 2 rear facing were on the sides. They're now all front facing, but we're having a fourth this week. Older two will now be in the 3rd row, one in a booster the other forward facing car seat. Toddler will be in forward facing car seat in 2cnd two driver side, newborn will be rear facing middle, and the passenger seat will be empty for easy access to third row.
Model X is definitely roomier than Y. If you get narrow seats like Diono you might be able to do three across in the Y second row, or you could put one in the third row
I think the latch originally just had a plastic arm that would provide some tension, and obviously break eventually. The springs are from a hardware store, probably ACE Hardware. I only needed a couple and wanted to feel them so I got the right "springiness"
I have a question, I am getting a 7 seater model x this year because we have a new baby coming up on November on top of our 10 year old and 8 year old, we will be using the middle seat for the infant car seat while the two kids sit at the sides with booster seats. I know it's a tight fit but it'll fit. My question may be dumb but I'll ask it anyway, would the middle infant seat block my other kids' view when they are watching movies on the back screen?
We've been doing three across for yrs now and they fit fine. Regarding the screen, I think they'll be able to see, but the side kids may have to lean away or a little forward depending on how tall they are. My wife usually has the infant seat on the driver side so it's more convenient for her putting the baby in and out. Less room for the driver but she's small
@@Teslavangelist thanks for the reply. Yeah it would be more practical to do it the way you do it. But with one being 10 and the other 8… they have been seating on the same side of the car forever, I don’t want to start child traumas now changing their lifestyles. They are having trouble adapting to the new reality that a new brother or sister is coming in November. 😂😂
The flashing yellow on the juicebox means that the charger is waiting on the vehicle, it doesn't mean something is wrong... I have been using the juicebox for 2 years and it has been flawless. I set a charging schedule in my vehicle because if I "remote start" or condition I guess they call it, I want the vehicle to be able to pull power from the charger. If the charge has time of use enabled, it will not allow the vehicle to pull power if it is outside the charging schedule. When I plug in, I get the flashing yellow light. I walk away and let it be. When 11pm hits and the vehicle calls for power, the light turns green.
Really hoping they fix things like this before the R2 comes out. I really want an R2, but I need my vehicle to be reliable and get me where I need to go 100% of the time
I suspect it is a sensor throwing false alerts, but yeah, it shuts down use of the vehicle for sure. This never happened to any of the 3 Teslas I've owned (of course it happened to some ppl in the early days), but I have found my Teslas to always start and be driveable
I have 17k miles on my 2023 MX LR and it is still as smooth as day 1. No shudder. So much nicer than my 2018 and 2020 MX. only thing I miss is auto-presenting door.
Michigan to California in a Toyota Camry would only need about 30 minutes at the gas pumps, for the whole trip. In comparison, the Tesla needs *many* *hours* at the chargers.
@@Teslavangelist Were you able to use Full Self Driving on the long trip? 8 years ago Elon said: "Soon, FSD will drive you from Los Angeles to New York, door to door, automatically"
lol yeah that forecast didn't end up happening. I think I did have FSDbeta on this trip, and I use for most of the driving since it's almost all interstate anyway. FSDbeta has gotten much better even since this video, and as I write this v12 is soon to be released which is even more advanced. FSD can't be used remotely, but nowadays it could do almost all of the freeway and city driving.
@@Teslavangelist Now that Elan has removed essential sensors from the Model 3 (ultrasonic), is it even possible to use FSD in the evening or night hours? I live in California, and we have roundabouts, speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, and 50 other signs and road conditions. Will FSD ever be able to handle those things, and at night or in the rain or in the fog? Some smart people say that FSD will never work as promised. I just read a review made by a guy in Germany, he is testing the redesigned Model 3 for 2024. He praised a number of things about the car, but he said Autopilot and FSD are still seriously defective.
Teslas also experience occasional problems with phone keys. You offer good advice: always bring the key card. (Lots of Rivian videos on your channel, for a Tesla Evangelist!)
Interesting that you liked the new X so well. I wish I had had the same experience when I test drove them in the fall, I might have bought one. But the two I test drove were both noisier than I'd like (and noisier than the competition) and I did not have the same experience with ride quality. I drove two different cars, and with the second drive I experimented with the ride settings and was still not impressed. YMMV
What year are you comparing to? It was noticeably better than my 2018, but tbf I recently had the front shafts replaced again and it feels like a new vehicle
Tennessee is “state insensitive “(😄) because we have no state incentives for EVs , yet they want to charge over 100 dollars more for tags for EVs and even still wants to raise that to 200 dollars later this year…😮😐🙄😬
I wonder why the screen is yellow. I like the stalks in my model Y. I find it to be the most utilitarian car that I have ever owned. So much space. Comfort for 4 and fits 5 with my dog in the way back and still room for groceries in the frunk
Yeah it's a great form factor and value now that prices have come down. I can't believe how cheap it would be in say CO with the state and fed incentives
@@Teslavangelist it’s not the most exciting or cool car. So many of them on the road that it almost feels like a be beetle in its heyday. The modern day peoples car
True. Right after this I drove the new 3 and it was noticeably more comfy, quiet, and premium feeling (no stalks tho lol). But I think when Y gets refreshed it will return to its shiny position.
Why do all evs feel the need to make weird door handles? I wish they were all normal. There is little aerodynamic benefit to making the door handles difficult to use. They're especially problematic in an ice storm.
Hello again. I commented on your other video about transferring FSD and free supercharging. I test drove the MX a month ago and fell in love with it. I decided to order an MX and take advantage of being able to transfer my 2018 MS's FSD and free supercharging (will have to pay for the premium connectivity after 12 months). I'll miss my MS, but looking forward to owning a refresh MX. Faster charging, better screens (I have MCU 2, but refresh way better) and better suspension. Also, I noticed that the MX that you test drove had the updated steering wheel (horn back in the center and camera button where the horn used to be on the refresh S and X). The MX that I test drove had the horn as button on the wheel and not in the center like normal cars. I have no VIN yet. I'm crossing my fingers that my MX will have the other new upgrades coming (front camera and ambient lighting). Knowing my luck it won't. Back in 2018, I missed the new MCU by a week. Take care.
