Welcome to Canada, all you Juveniles of the Universe.....and that means You, all you delinquents out there. This is some of the best rock we got.....hope you like it.... and if you like it half as much as we do, you will have already OD'd.
Excellent band they use to play once and a while Monday to Saturday at a bar back home in Cambridge Ontario my brother and I would go every night at the tudor tavern in 1976 ✌️
Wow, thank you for sharing this concert. I saw Max Webster live a few times before I was 16. They did a legendary concert at the Kee to Bala, and blew the 'preserved fruit jar' lid off of cottage country. They were different from other Canadian rock bands in this time; it was rock'n'roll with glam style. Genius.
Found out about this band last year. I now have all their LPs. Candian and US press of the first one. It all started with finding their first album at a Goodwill. They wrote some of the best rock music ever created.
This is STELLAR! I'm one of few Americans that is a huge Kim Mitchell fan throughout his entire career. Still surprised that he never made it big stateside. Rock on from Detroit Michigan USA.
Found this looking for Max Webster, saw them in Indianapolis in 1980 they were special guest for Rush. Great show from both bands. Geddy came out and sang on a song or two with them, wearing a President Nixon mask.
An interesting fact:. Max Webster was the first band ever to play at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, opening up for Rush on their Moving Pictures tour. The Joe is now demolished.
I think Buffalo and Detroit we're the 2 places where Max and Kim had a big following. The first time I saw them was opening for Rush in a hockey arena in Welland Ont. with some Canadian friends
Detroit Rocks. I was raised on Detroit radio and feel so lucky to have a foot in both Canadian and American Rock coming up. So awesome when I see such a great talent like Kim accepted by Americans before his solo career that got so much air play. Peace my American brother. PS Its The Weekeeeeeeeeeeeend Arthur P screaming that is still burned in my head and even at 54 on a Friday night I may scream it myself lmao
Been a huge fan since I was 9 years old haha. Rush, BTO, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Gino Vanelli all got the press support back then. But guess what ? Max will have a revival. A mix of Steely Dan and Frank Zappa has always been my description of this superb and under celebrated band.....
Boss group an I saw them twice , first time at the old C N E grandstand , no longer there and at Massey Hall . Brings back memories of my youth . Would of thought more people would add comments .
When I was in my 20s, I was living in Toronto and my buddy and I used to follow these fellows to more than a dozen concerts Always an awesome performance by Kim and the guys! Early players like Mike Tilka on drums were the best ! Also saw them open for Rush at Guelph Memorial Gardens ! I am heard screaming on “the Party” opening which was taped at a concert at Hillside Secondary School ! Ah yes, fond memories Love you Kim !
This is a great Max show, in a great time where prog still was seen as a main catagory (as new wave was the alt) in the "record stores" and from Yes, Rush to Kansas its colours ran across rock & roll!
Why was this band as big as Rush.?.? Why?? One of my all time fave bands growing up. My older brother had Rush and I had Max Webster. A geez law weez can Kim rip o on that axe. Much prefer his quirky singing style to ahem patio lanterns. Sorry never was a fan of solo Kim. But 1980 I was thirteen and my first summer as a “ teenager “ was cranking Universal Juveniles, Permanent Waves , Pat Travers crash and burn. Topping it off with British steel and Queen the game and the stones emotional rescue what an awesome year for music. One of my favorite summer memories as a younger me.
Wow this should have a bazillion views !! The most under appreciated band in rock music. Only Canadian band that is better is Rush. Kim Mitchell when he was cool beyond cool, and bet you didn’t know the guy could shred on guitar like that, take that go for a sofa.
