Ga’s defeating Asantes in battle doesn’t mean they conquered them. Conquering someone means they now submit to you. A king doesn't have to necessarily be a king of a country to be called a king, so any way you slice it, he is wrong.

@@multyz1 u are still wrong unfortunately because a monarch is another word for King/Queen and by dictionary definition is the ruler of an independent state. Former Asante Empire was an independent state because it controlled its own affairs politically, economically, socially and so you could call the Asantehene a king. However after the formation of Ghana no King has an independent state, they’ve all come under Ghana and their head is the President. That is why again the UK nations don’t have Presidents but Prime Ministers because the Monarch of The England is the President of those nations however in Ghana it’s not so, the Asantehene is not the Monarch of Ghana but Asante and they are all governed by the constitution of Ghana. So yes academically it matters how u slice it because words are used to communicate a thought or idea and in this case the Word King is inappropriate to define or describe the Position of Asantehene within the government of Ghana. Don’t get me wrong, Otumfour is a King in His own territory but as long as he is under Ghana, constitutionally he is not a King because it wouldn’t be accurate politically.

@@samuelosei3808 Young man read to understand, everybody knows Asante was established relatively in late 17th century...But since Asante has an ancestory before 1695, when recounting history, it is the name of the current people that will be used to reference the past (i.e before 1695): even if at the time (before 1695) they were not called asante, the mention of asante is just a reference of those people in the past. That is how history is recounted so that the listener understands the reference point. it doesn't mean that the person talking doesn't know. The same way, at the time (before the 17th century), there was no dormaa people, but yet when Lawyer Anokye mentions Dormaa we know exactly those he was referring in the past even though at the time they were not called Dormaa... I hope you get it now...
