@@LoveMTB Thanks! I may consider the Ardent race or Rekon race for the rear. Would you say that the 2.6 F and 2.35 R are proportionally ideal (for those of us who prefer a slimmer / lighter R tire to slightly larger /grippier F)?

Ikon is fast and light great for dry hard pack. If there there are wet slippery roots on your trails or if the dirt is even damp they plug up and are useless.

Hello from southern Ontario. I recently came across your video regarding the Rekon and was sold on it. I was actually looking to get Rekon both front and rear 2.6/2.4 as I was looking to get better overall grip for general trail riding. What are your thoughts? I was also looking to possibly get the dissector up front and rekon rear, but was concerned about the transition channel between center and side knobs. I've read that you could wash out and slide if you don't lean hard and quickly on a fast turn. I like the transition knobs on the Rekon it give a more even grip when turing/leaning. I was initially gonna get Assegai/DHR2 but thought that I would be overtiring for my riding purpose and style. As I am not and aggressive downhill/enduro rider. Besides I know the drag and weight would kill me especially on the climbs. Anyway great channel and very informative. Hopefully see you on the trails...Cheers!

Hey man..that would be cool, but im looking to get a 27.5 bike (polygon siskiu T8). I was gonna get a 29er, but I'd rather have the ability and fun of a 27.5 . I just feel that 29 would be too big (as I am 5'8) and my older hardtail is a 26er lol. I still might get the 29er but seems like the 27.5 is alot more fun to ride. As for tires would you still recommend dissector for the front over rekon? I'm more about grip and control, climbing and rolling efficiency. (And the tread pattern has to look cool lol). I rode in kelso years back and would like to go back. I live in Brampton west (closer to Georgetown) so kelso isn't too far from me. I recently got back into mtb from and over a 7yr break. I've riden at puslinch, gorba, albion hills, heart lake, lookout gravity trails. I'd say I'm an intermediate rider, not too aggressive and enjoy flowing and technical trails. Actually do you have a shop or just do these mtb reviews? It would be nice to meet up and talking mountain biking.
@gaddobronx6740
@gaddobronx6740 2 года назад
@@LoveMTB I may consider the Dissector up front for a bit more traction. The 29er it's still an option, but leaning more toward the 27.5 since I like a more agile bike. As for the Siskiu T8 that I'll be getting, I believe it comes stock with Hans Dampf tires 2.6 front and rear. Have you had any experience with those tires? I heard they were slow rolling which is why I wanted to go with the rekons. My old GT Avalanche (that I just upgraded to 1x drive train) has nobby nics. For me the nobby nics have great grip and good cornering, but us slow rolling. I just assume the hans dampf is similar. Also never had Maxxis tires, but everyone raves about them. As for the mullet bike. I actually saw your Mullet peacemaker video. That's a sweet bike. Makes we want to go ride at Kelso again once this snow melts. Take care! And thanks for the replies.

How did you find the Rekon in the long term? I'm running a 2.6 Maxx Speed Ardent Race on the front of my hardtail and it's only 40g heavier than the 2.35 it replaced. I love it but it's a bit slippy on wet rocks and roots and I'm thinking the Maxx Terra Rekon might improve things.

Good to hear. I've been trying to figure out replacement tires. I like the rolling speed of the NN but I'm hoping to get better grip up front without losing too much roll. It would be useful to compare the Rekon on a 40mm or so rim at a lower pressure. It should begin to provide its best window of performance.
@eb1888.
@eb1888. 6 лет назад
Possibly so. Wider may not be better for this Maxxis tire. Testing could show that and the tires limitations. Another tire with a wider total tread profile on a higher volume casing making it more rounded may work on a wider rim. At lower pressure for a bigger footprint with more performance. And those are the Bontrager XR Team in 2 and 4 versions with different knob sizes and heights. The XR2 2.6x29 isn't on the Trek site but a dealer will see it on their site and can order it.
