@@sarkamari Thanks! Do you think that all of maya prior simulations tools like Nucleus, fluid, muscle, particles, and bullet, can be replaced with bifrost for good?
Well bifrost is capable of doing all above atm so it would be the most logical move. Autodesk is currently working on optimisation for Bifrost and if that gets sorted it would be the obvious choice if you don't want to use Houdini. I have to admit Blender is not too far behind. So it's quite intriguing what's happening in today's industry.
Great looking clouds! with a better lighting and comp probably they would look so much better. I got the idea tho. I just have one question: why did you choose to use 3d Fluid instead of bifrost? CHeers and thank you !
Good question; it really comes down to your computer spec and how well you understand bifrost aero. I have noticed lack if viewport visibility, extremely heavy scenes and unstable caching system as drawbacks fir the CURRENT version if bifrost.
@@sarkamari Got it! I actually had a lot of trouble with bifrost i'm pretty sure that is because my computer. and Its great to see another alternative! Great videos !
Excellent tutorial! You explained everything that you are doing and why you are doing it. I will be using your techniques for some clouds in a scene I am rendering. One question I have is should we typically expect Ncache to dramatically bloat our file size? Most of what I have been studying has focused on modeling techniques and less about FX.
Great to hear. With simulation and fx cache is always part of your workflow. (For efficiency and stability) Sometimes you bake the file as alembic. In some other cases ( packages like Houdini) you write out the cache as physical files.
Great tutorial. A lot of settings to tweak and I wish I knew what they all do, so I can create simulations for other purposes. Second playblast took ages to calculate on Core i5 9400f, I was wondering what is your hardware configuration, if you don't mind sharing
Hi i really like ur video im student and dont know much how maya works. I do all in ur video as u did but my clouds never show on the render view and now im rendering and also didnt show on the render. I have to turn on an option or something to make it show on the render ?? Like able something in render option
Not sure what the error is! If you don’t see the volume in neither of the windows the emitter might not even emit particles at all Do you see a dense point cloud if you switch to the wireframe mode?
@@sarkamariI see the clouds as the same as the final part of ur video but when i make render in render never show. I Will try switch to the wireframe mode if i find It jsjsjsjs. if the emiter maps emit clouds that arent the problem right??
Hi! Thank you for your tutorial it is really extremely useful! But i have the problem - fluids don't render correctly it shows to me like black space on render. I will be very grateful if you can advice me how to fix it because i didn't find any solution :(
Bonjour! thank you for this tutorial. i encountered a problem, when i cache my simulation and play with the slider once the cache is done, its starting the animation over like if the cache did'nt work... My base resolution is at 400, and ive been doing trying 4 or 5 times... long wait... Any clue? cause i start to think its my computer performence which is too bad. Tschuss!
@@sabrinaflipse7732 hey, I needed a fix estate of the cloud so I finally got the shape I wanted but nope didn’t solve the problem or maybe, I don’t remember. I think it was because the velocity or something down there : I forgot to put it back to 0. Not sure about my answer. Good luck!
Hi! you are a lifesaver with this tutorial. But I have a problem on the moment when clouds are showing only on the white areas of the noise. mine just blow up fully in the cube? Where have I done mistake because I did exactly as you did. i started it again and again multiple times but still the same problem. Need help pls
From what you've explained seems like the poly plane is not acting as an emitter. Make sure there is no other emitter in the scene when you start with the 3d container and also Check via Dynamic relationship editor to make sure your the connection between the poly plan and the container is there.
Could I take this into Nuke and create a basic slap comp? I'm currently in my 1st year studying VFX and would love to add this to my matte painting assignment, Could do with clouds like this around some mountains I've created
14:00 That happens to me ALL THE TIME ... and it's so frustrating. I.e. when clicking a color field, the color UI pops up and when moving the mouse it disappears, having to click on it once again. Sometimes two or three clicks on the color field is required to get the damn popup UI to stay. Anyone else having this annoying glitch?
A text box pops up after the caching is done..... what do I click.... as I have clicked replace and blend and it prompted me to create a new cache again..... its in like an infinite loop.... and its been like 2-3 caching cycles.... it just doesnt let me get out of it and go ahead and continue with what I want to do now that I have cached the file.
Select the container and go to ncache> delete cache Also delete the physical cache files from the cache folder in your project directory. That should allow you to cache the sim only once
Hey, How long did the clouds take to render, I want to render clouds like that along with my #d landscape, the VDB clouds I have slows my render down alot
awesome tutorial but all i got was fog not clouds :( update: redid and it came out :) 3/4s done i'm super excited :) i've wanted to make clouds since my first maya class in 2018 :)
@@sarkamari thank you for the explanation :) youre a great VFX instructor! I took 2 maya classes in university and my professor wouldn't teach us vfx :(
Hello. I have a question. On ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FTK1ufe5iWE.html when I change base resolution from 130 to 250, cloud shape becomes like sliced shape, like chopped watermelon. Do you have any idea why?
Would you see any movement if you delete nCache? Caching bakes the animation in physical files so no movement should come from something else. For example when u apply fields you need to make sure the container is selected
@@sarkamari i think i had the plane and container selected. maybe that messed it up? i saw movement but they were still too puffy. but i did get a good result just by rendering, but not wispy like you had. i will post a video :) bc im so HAPPY! i've wanted to do skies since my first class in 2018! thank you again! :)
Looks pretty good as your first attempt. 👏🏻 You can increase the base resolution just a little bit more and reduce self shadow to get a brighter cloud. You certainly have the talent ☺️
Hi, it's best is understand the workflow. Values do change based on the scene size or your scenario. That is the reason I don't have any emphasis on values in particular.
