In this video I will be Installing the OEM Mazda crossbars! This is a simple mod to do if you plan on using a roof rack or in my case adding a bike. This is an install video but, I would use this video as a guide be sure to follow the instructions closely if you purchase this item. I tried my best to capture all the steps to installing these. So be sure to watch till the very end to hear my initial first impressions of the product and how they preform on the vehicle!

Hey love the videos! I’ve watched every single Mazda 3 video you’ve uploaded and enjoyed all of them! I’ve got a question about the rack. I’m looking at getting a pop up roof camper for my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch and I cannot get a perfect idea for how well it would attach to the rack you have. The pop up camper has the universal attachment where it fastens around either side of the rack, 4 times, 1 on each corner. I cannot tell if this rack has a flat top that would work or if there is an angle that might not. I’m just looking for some advice from someone who is way more knowledgeable of car parts and installations. Thank you! I love the vids!

Please I need your help, for some reason the version of the Mazda 3HB in Mexico does not have the factory devices where the bars are screwed, so I proceeded to buy some but I need to know the exact distance where they should be fixed, could you give me the distance? exact from the front of the roof to the front device and the same for the back the distance from the end of de roof to the rear device

Did the cross bars come with the replacment roof trims, or was that a seperate purchase? Cant seem to find much information on it

Thanks a bunch! Made it easier for me to do this today! 😊 I was surprised that it sits a bit higher off the car than I assumed it would, but it's probably best so it doesn't scratch the pretty paint! I wonder though, is it an issue that water will be getting into the openings of the molding where we installed the racks ?

Glad to help! Yeah it sits higher so you can wrap straps and tie downs effectively without having to worry about scratching the paint. As for the small opening, the roof seals seem to be very well made, I’ve gone through countless storms and car washes, no leaks!

Hello there! My mazda 3 is identical to yours. When the moon roof is open, do you hear any wind noise or whistling?? I have read in some articles that wind noise is inevitable with a roof rack, but I need to hear it from your experience! Thanks n more power!

Oh yeah the wind noise is pretty obnoxious with the sun roof open. But you’re correct in your research, adding a roof rack of any kind will cause wind noise. The only real way to mitigate it is to add a wind deflector to your rack which helps with noise drastically.

3:04 The caps on the new molding are insane! I tried to remove the cap with the molding already installed. The whole molding almost slide off but the cap still stuck 🤣

Great video! When you’re not using the crossbar and you remove it. Do you have put the original molding back or is there like a cover that you can put on the new molding? Thanks! I’m planning to get one but wanted to know first if It’s not a hassle when I decided to remove the crossbar.

Appreciate it! No need to keep the original molding, at 2:55 I show the new moldings with the caps that need to be removed. Keep those caps and put them back on when you decide to remove the crossbars.

@nbeboyz-teabaggins Yes. Drill a hole through the original moulding that aligns with threaded female mounting point.

thanks for the video! Do the new moldings with the caps come with the crossbars or do you have to buy them separately? Also, i have a mazda 3 skyactiv X hatchback - i assume that is the same?

Unfortunately no they are two separate purchases. Everything should be the same, I believe the skyactiv X just has to do with engine components. The body of the vehicle should be exactly the same.

@@StradysWorld Thank you! I was just thrown into a dilemma because my car salesperson sent me a video of a presumably Mazda 3, without the fixed points after removing the moulding. Any idea if that's possible? Of course I can always confirm by removing mine to check, but I'm also worried about damaging it. Hahaha!

For some reason, when I try to install the rubber wind noise prevention I was having so many issues. Any tips how you got the rubber pieces to slide on through smoothly?

I ran into the same problem! What I did was slide it through as far as I could then got some pliers and pulled it all the way to the other side made it so much easier!

My 4th Gen doesn’t have the black anchors which sucks so I can’t mount any crossbars 😓

Those plastic roof moldings rattle SO bad on our car when they sit in the sun and expand. They are quiet when not in the hot sun. Trying to come up with a solution to keep them quiet.

It’s not too bad, you can definitely tell it’s there with the windows up, but with music on can’t tell. Windows down, yeah it’s kinda rough but I’m used to it.
