the sound of this car is instantly recognizable. It's the most iconic sounds of the era and universally loved by all petrolheads. the looks of the 787 are divided with some loving it and other thinking it's butt ugly but you'll never hear anyone say that they don't like the sound and the music at 7:01 is lovely.

+Jose Javier DeHaro Alba In my opinion, the 787B and the R390 handle better. But nonetheless, the GT-One is still a beast, though it's tire life is lower than that of the other two mentioned race cars.

@@omsteve4761 this space gave it no room to really get out of 1st/2nd gear. This is a 210+ mph racecar, not a parking lot donut machine. The vehicle is barely being able to get into the powerband or use any of it's aero.

The NA high revving highly tuned engine will always be the king for me, i loathe and hate the way everythings goin turbo charged these days, it kills the exhaust note dead.

l34052 maybe in you're country there aren't those problems but fuel is very expensive in many places and contamination is also really big so goverments impose emission laws and they only way to have a car that passes those test is a small turbo engine

+ALIENdrifter66 thats just not true! the CRX got well over 40 mpg in the late 1980s by having a well designed engine and light weight. Car makers like audi, bmw, mercedes, ford and others have resorted to smaller displacement twin turbo motors because they don't want to put the money/time into engineering lighter more advanced chassis. Just ask Gale Banks: turbos are easy and thats why we are seeing em more and more in performance cars.

Toy_J not possible, at least not in developed worlds.......just the emission rules alone in most countries would make it impossible to get it as an road car, add to the fact that a lot of countries also have regulations on decibels. Imagine having a neighbor driving to work every morning at 6 with a car like this, Hell even a guy living on the other side of a mid sized city would wake you up😂

this is the 4 rotor... a gift to the world. Beautiful sound, amazing car... just sad that the Mazda 787B has been banned by FIA. Who knows the real reason. If you do know, please shed some light on the topic. I've read that GM wanted to use the rotary in the Corvettes in the 70's... also having trouble with emissions the projects was dropped... Winning Le Mans is no easy task, yet people still believe the rotary is useless...

The 787b wasnt banned by the FIA, Mazda chose to retire it at the end of 1991 as it was so uncompetitive and the 7.8L engine didnt fit in the new class limit of 3.5L!!!!

Manoo42 banned wouldn't be the right word/term... FIA simply regulated Mazda out of existence/competition.

All the FIA did was reduce the maximum engine capacity to 3.5L to bring it in line with F1 and reduce costs to manufacturers. The turbo Mercedes and V12 Jags went out at the same time. In fact, the ONLY reason Mazda raced at all in 1991 was because there were so few entrants due to the rule changes there wouldnt have been a race. Only Peugeot turned up with a car that complied with the new rules. It was a very very poor race in 91, Mazda wouldnt have won in ANY other year. But the rule changes (announced in 89) had NOTHING to do with Mazda. The 787b only ever won one race which is the real reason Mazda retired it.
