We have owned our CX5 GT SkyActiv diesel for over 4 years and absolutely love it. We average 6.5 litres per hundred per tank of diesel with a mix of highway and city. I drive 80 kms each day to and from work plus running around for work. With over 80,000 kms our car has never missed a beat, no squeaks no rattles, no mechanical issues other than its scheduled servicing. Mazda have done a great job on the CX8. Adding the 2.5 petrol engine has opened this car up to those that want a CX5 but need more room, and the Asaki LE applies to people like me that don’t need the extra seats, good to have, but the interior is a nice place to be.

With 80,000 km on it... It's about due to detonate with oil dilution, injector seals failing, cams being coked in soot and wearing.... And the kicker, the good ol oil pickup blocking with the exhaust gas in the head turning the oil to charcoal chunks. Before you know it... You've done just over 100,000km just out of warranty and the engine is game over.

@@RamjetX I love this commentary . Owned a CX7 diesel bought new in 2009 and traded in on the CX5 in 2017. The CX7 had over 180,000 km on it when we traded it. I know many diesel owners both of MZRCD and SkyActiv diesel without any issues. Never driven my diesel for 10 minutes each day, serviced properly, and even let it idle down before switching off after running on the freeway.

Anyone else getting kind of annoyed that every model looks the same?

Right from Mazda 2 to CX-9 it feels like inflated balloon.

On Mazdas yes, on Fords no.

Why fix what isn't broken? It still looks modern & attractive.

@@BadDriversOfTheIllawarra not saying it isn't an attractive design, was just hoping for some variation in the design for different models.

@@Audecibel I can understand that. New CX-5 coming out at the end of the year, given it'll be Mazda's first car based on their new RWD architecture, it might debut a new design.

I'm fascinated with Aussies fascination with Mazda brand. Here in the US, it sits almost dead last when taking in consideration sales volume.

How do you tell this apart from a CX 9? Shorter in length by 20 cms, but really that’s not too noticeable out on the road.

CX-9 has a very thirsty engine, and that's the biggest difference.

The CX8 is narrower, plus the front is more or less the same as the CX5, with the smaller grille and chrome strip running beneath the headlights. But yes can be hard to tell for the untrained eye

On the base model the back end doesn't blend well into the arches. This one is fine due to wheel arches and the rim size. The CX8 is basically a stretched CX5 as its the same width and has the same length nose. The CX9 is wider and has a bigger nose (which is no use to anyone!!!).

Nope.... Not at that price. Car manufacturers have to get real with what actual family incomes are and align with realistic expectations.

Change it up Mazda, geeeeeez And price is still too damn high for this shape and design. Sorento still comes out on top. CX9 is way better as well
