It was a great place back then but like everything else nowadays.........the only complaint I had were our shoppers from south of the border would leave their babies dirty diapers in the Mall parking lots.....too lazy to put them in a trash bin! You had to watch where you stepped at night. Yuck!

Mccallum Texas is a nice place to move not a lot of assault sexual assault or anything like that just a lot of car crashes on highways but all in all still a beautiful city And there is a lot of things to do there It's a good place to settle down

My own personal opinion: unless you're a 65+yo affluent retiree living in a very secured and expensive gated community, you won't be able to find any decent job (paid at least $20 per hour) as long as you're NOT FLUENT in Spanish and that means speak, read and write Spanish same like a native Mexican or anybody from Central or South America (legal or illegal in America), except Brazil of course. And that applies not just to McAllen but to anywhere along Rio Grande border area (up to 100 miles north of the border) from El Paso to Brownsville & South Padre Island. One more thing, my personal opinion as well: for an English-speaking American living ANYWHERE in America (not just Texas border areas), speaking in a broken Spanish in order to appease the Spanish-speaking local people is worse than no Spanish at all but very fluent in English, to me it's similar to waiving the white flag during a war OR when a trainer throws the white towel during a boxing match, it means total DEFEAT in your own country and you'll never be able to fully recover from that particular state of mind. And a TRUE Mexican wil never accept a FAKE one! Merry Christmas.
