13:20 "I feel like John Stewart should not be taller than Superman". Well, he shouldn't. According to the included cards, John is 1,85m tall and Superman is 1,91m, so Clark's figure should be a little bit taller than John...
I picked them up last week and aside from little issues (the lack of green on G.L'.s butterfly shoulders, bulging ankle joints and lack of pivot) I love them, put them on flights stands and they look great side by side.
Min 13:40... OMG Thank you sooo much for comparing this two. You are the only You Tuber that has done this. I wish you would have compared it to the Justice League animated 6 inch figures. This is good enough tho. Super Thanks again!!!
hey man, great video. Unsubbed awhile ago when my interest in collecting kinda died off. A few days ago I started feeling the collector itch again and it's cool being back. Your quality and videos as a whole have gotten much better since I've been away. Happily subbing back, I may buy superman when i see it at a store. I really need an animated superman and this one doesn't look nice!
I dont think Steward made any constructs all, it was part of his character, simple and to the point. Now Hal made constructs in the episode where time was messed up and he turned into Hal Jordan for a few mins.
Yeah, they made a point of it that John is a soldier and his constructs are pure and simple. Katma Tui even chides him for never learning to be more detailed with his imagination.
They must have cast Superman's head in black plastic and then painted the flesh tone on top. It looks like he mismatched his foundation. I bought the John Stewart, it's my least favorite John Stewart in my collection
The bad thing if you’re hoping for the rest of the Animated Justice League is that John (along with Hawkgirl) should actually be one of the shortest members of the original team. That means in order to get the whole league in scale the other 5 members will have to be larger than him. Good luck. Martian Manhunter would be huuuuge.
for the price of $20, we get 7" figure + stand + card + accessories ... figure also nicely sculpted and painted with acceptable articulations ... it's a very good deal!
That previous STAS Superman nailed the aesthetic better. Similarly to the McFarlane BTAS Batman, this Superman looks like a hybrid of early Timm aesthetic (BTAS, STAS) with the later Timm aesthetic (JL, JLU). Even then, the torso-legs ratio is too big even by JLU design standards.
I would definitely take some nail scissors to that hair at the back then paint the cut part black, that would make him look so much better and it would help him look up. Thanks for the review man
These look really good but I don't want to start another set of DC figures to collect. My only nitpick is ankle articulation joint. I kind of wish the Marvel Legends ankle joint was standard for all figures.
Hey Shart! Great vid, just wanted to say that John Stewart was the Green Lantern in Justice League and JL Unlimited shows. I grew up with and love both. I don't really know how well these figures look like their counterparts however...
I’ll be honest these look bad to me. Just bad. They look nothing like the actual animated designs The Bruce Timm style does have huge torsos with tinier lower torsos and legs, but I think McFarlane over did that on these ones.
Have you held them in hand yet? That reviewer you’re quoting hasn’t held them either I believe. But hey, more in the store for those that think they’re cool.
I like the Green Lantern but I have no relation to John Stewart so the missing green on the shoulders, the single jointed elbows with the ratchet showing and the overall hindered articulation is what's going to make me pass this figure. I'm getting Superman but he is a bit too short compared to Batman, he has the same hindered articulation, the same single elbows with the ratchet showing and to top it off the head color compared to the rest of the body is one of the worst beginner mistake. I just want to ask... What the hell is going on with the ball joints on both this figures ankles, specially on Superman?!!! It seems like no one at McFarlane Toys had a look at the production samples, because if they did and all this mistakes went unnoticed...Thanks for the review Shartimus.
I saw this figure for £10 at Smyths, as I went to pick him up, I saw one, and only one, DC 1000 superman behind him at the same price so I went for him, after watching this I'm glad I made that decision.
Great review as usual! You really help me make important collecting decisions! I was considering getting the DC collectibles Justice League, but I'll go for these instead. I'm hoping he'll do the whole League and then some!
HELLBAT and Batman Who Laughs are the Only ones worth buying in this whole damn wave. Honestly. Save your money. The rest are SO damn disappointing! 😬😬😬😕
Knightfall182 I actually found the comic Batman and superman to look quite nice on display. Give them a look. Here are mine in the case. media.discordapp.net/attachments/603330874003685416/667160865618788401/image0.jpg
I think the height discrepancy is due to them being from different shows bc that's not the jlu superman but is the jlu latern Maybe if they do a jlu supes he'll be taller
MacFarlane dropped the ball the future is 6 inch, 3D face sculpting and wide variety of articulation and accessories if u can't change with the times theirs the door!!!
Haha you did not sound excited for these two at all lol 😂 that’s a bummer man I was hoping McFarlane would make this line the best versions of our dc figures but it seems like they’re kind of dropping the ball here, especially with their scaling and articulation, nevertheless good review dawg !
I mean, they ARE similar, but really not the same to the OG shows. The Superman one is WAY off model. You just gotta compared it to the DC Collectibles Superman the Animated series one that came with Lois, that one is SPOT ON for that Bruce Timm style, and this McFarlane one does not look like the TAS Superman AT ALL. It's closer to the JL and JLU version but still off-model. It looks like an off-brand approximation of that art style to be honest. For the Justice League Cartoon, they used a more squared-looking style but still rounder than The New Batman Adventures. GL looks less off-model but he still doesn't look quite like the cartoons. Again, it's like an off-brand composite version. The worst one by far is Batman, who doesn't at all resemble either the original Batman the Animated Series, the New Batman Adventures, the Justice League OR the Justice League Unlimited version. Again, like an off-brand facsimile. Shame.
I don't like Supes head. Love MacFarlane toys but they need to do some minor tweaks hear and there. Anyway those figures are light years ahead of the crap that Mattel fed out for years and years. Totally agree with your "not to bad" rating. Lol.
I was thinking about putting Animated Superman's hands on the #1000 Superman, to get two fists. But the color won't match. Sad. Can't believe #1000 Supes got ONE fist.
themcmc give the super man a closer look my friend I was gonna skip them also but when My gf picked them up for me I said dam I think they look pretty good. Here they are in my display case. I actually really like em media.discordapp.net/attachments/603330874003685416/667160865618788401/image0.jpg
I just bought the John Stewart figure and his leg keeps popping off. I'm not a fan of the accessories it comes with I think this is the last figure of this line that I'm going to buy
Do not like these figures at all. Too big, was hoping for something with the intricate detail of Icons but instead we got very bulky oversized figures, with clumsy sculpting and bulky proportions.
Me encantó la figura de Superman pero si me decepciona la poca o nuca función de la articulaciones de entrepiernas y abdomen, lastima, Hasbro sigue mejorando mucho
My biggest gripe with all these figures is that the articulation at the hips/thighs suck ass. That and the scaling is super inconsistent. Like GL is taller than Superman and Harley Quinn is taller than Batman wtf is that? Lol
