Carfection creates the best car reviews in my opinion. The reviews are well presented and exciting to listen to and watch. The reviews are free of excess and annoying humor.
@@oldschoolracinggames5729 the McLaren is an overrated average car??? How in the world is that in any way on any planet an average car? Literally every thing about it is about as far as possible from the average car anywhere? It's unique and an absolute iconic piece of automotive history and goes without question a legend. You are definitely saying that without ever even experiencing one I person and I can probably guarantee that you have never been in a drive inside of this work or art you wouldn't be able to even type that sentence let alone speak it! It's okay to have an option on it and not like the style of it we all have our own taste but you can't argue with facts man.
I Couldn't agree more about your comment seeing these three together is just beautiful 3 cars that dominated le mans in there own times beautiful works of engineering
it is like the countach quite a sobering experience to actually drive, its made for racing, its super uncomfortable and really made for rather short people so...yeah I agree its a fantastic looking thing and I love it but own it? I mean owning just to own would be sad, I would want it to be driven.
DK Engineering are incredible. Thanks Carfection. These three cars were my favourite growing up - the CLK GTR is still one of the most unique looking cats ever!
Amazing lineup and opportunity, we are all jealous! The only thing that would have made this even better is if you had the GTR short tail variant of the F1 since it was more in line with the spirit of the CLKGTR and 911GT1
I still genuinely believe the mclaren f1 from a rolling race will challenge many super cars of today. Would be interesting to see it against something like a 720s.
Depends on how long the race was, for pure top speed the F1's 240mph is still something that very few cars can touch (or even come close to). Not bad for a car that's 30 years old.
@@gustavoaguiar7485 no it is not at all. In a straight line the mclaren f1 has the same 200-300kmh time as the 720s. Which means in genuinely acceleration it is very close to a 720s but is let down massively by slower gear changes. A mp4-12c is most definitely not faster than the f1.
Hey Carfection, I know there’s only 1 road car but do you think you could get a hold of a Nissan R390 GT1 to test? Especially seen as you just drove the Jaguar Sport XJR-15.
Videos like this should be illegal. The greatest cars at one of the most legendary tracks. Brings back childhood memories of playing Need For Speed II SE. Thank you @Carfection
Having experienced these cars in the 90s and having friends race them back in the day was mind-blowing. This extremely well-made video captures wonderfully the spirit of this trinity. Thank you, team Carfection, well done.
Wow! What a top quality film that was, well done to all for putting this together. I bet Henry felt a tad nervous taking these irreplaceable classics around a racing track, it would certainly make me nervous. Therein lies a problem with these cars, as they are now so rare and expensive they cannot be driven like they were designed to be, but must be coddled. It's a pity as they cannot be driven (legally) at speed on the public road, and cannot be risked on the track. It was a rare privilege then for a journalist to drive them all.
Few months ago I went to Porsche’s maintenance facility to pick up my car, and the assistant told me there’s a GT1 sitting there and I had a chance to look at it irl. He said the owner bought it for around 254million dollars which is insane. And also saw the 918 Spyder being disassembled at the back for maintenance as well.
totally agree, as a kid growing up admiring these three legends. we lived through a true golden period of racing and advancement, alongside public consumption. I think we missed the point when the computer could figure everything out, along with electric fuel and such, could be it's own thing. I do see companies still try with manual gearboxes. Boy, when you know you're getting old, smh...
I can't think of anyone else I would want to hear describe the behavior of these cars. You have such an informative way of speaking while you're driving. Excellent video.
This is the silver arrows but in the 90s what amazing art machines ever made!!! I still saying "when this gladiators face, they conquer the circuit" Probably NEVER could choose a favourite of three!!! But I convinced that the was and still the Ultimate Top Race Cars Experience!
No doubt about it Mr. Catchpole. You produce some incredibly magnificent videos. This one spoke to my car-soul. The part of me that’s simply childlike fascination & nothing more.
I don't believe I every had the same reaction upon first seeing a photo of a car in a magazine as I did when I saw the CLK GTR. It still looks obscene!
Great video. If I wee forced to chose I would go with the Porsche as well. I do love the looks of the CLK BUT as challenging as it is to enter and exit I must say that would make it unrealistic for anyone with a larger than average frame. It seems the car was designed for smaller human beings as it's pilot. Thank you for putting this wonderful video together and for uploading it for our viewing pleasure. Liked and subscribed I did :)
All cars are awesome!! Design from the imagination and the distant future in the time of the past! But Mercedes remains the most beautiful and very elegant!! It looks like from another planet! Thank you for the beautiful video and for bringing together these legendary cars
Too bad they never had posters of these for sale because my wall would have been filled. Yup, I had the Testarossa on my wall but that was requisite back then. These would have been on my walls in triplicate! What an amazing omage to these raw beasts from so long ago. I miss these days. This was a fantastic video and I thank you for sharing it!
The GTR and GT1 look preposterously unwieldy on the 'road' as the race cars that they are. The Mclaren F1 really was a road car and works, the other two feel like a man doing his weekly shop around Tesco's wearing skis. Insane overhangs and unicorn exotica that would probably be smashed up a British back road by a Golf R or something just due to their size, limited traction, weird dated transmissions, visibility etc. Pretty great to see them driven all the same.
I love the McLaren F1! I remember playing NFS 2 with it all the time and getting to the secret mode. (I actually still have it on PC) but the CLK GTR for some reason feels like the unicorn car for me. MCLAREN F1- CLK_GTR-911
Criminal this video only has 70,000 odd views so far. Brilliant work thank you. I saw the McLaren win in ‘95 and attended all the BPR and FIA GT races I could in the UK. Just stunning race cars and huge grids at the time. I remember seeing that 911 GT1 at brands. When it came through paddock hill I sensed immediately the others were in trouble. It was on rails. The McLarens fought as hard as they could though! Shame that the ACO and FIA didn’t stick to their guns with LMH. Yes you’re spot on. The regs were originally back to proto/GT type cars but some manufacturers wanted full prototype and others wanted hypercar to race car. The ever changing rules kind of killed off the Aston which is a huge shame. At least it still got to be a reality, even though it may never race.
Team CLK GTR here! Thank you SO much for this absolute gem of a video. I can't even imagine the insurance needed to drive these. I instantly subscribed after watching the first video of the 3. The pinnacle and holy grail of 90's supercars.
