I just had 2 tsp of MCT to break my 1st 48 hour fast. It was easy as I was not home so I never had food cross my mind once lol😅. Didn't even feel anything. Thanks to Ketones. Truly amazing.
excerpts from Dr Berg: MCT oil is 100% MCTs, whereas coconut only is only 15% MCTs (and 45% LCFA) benefits of taking MCT oil : • Fast digestion and absorption • Converts to ketones quickly • Great for people without a gallbladder (doesn’t require bile salts) • Boosts energy • Supports brain • Helps reduce insulin resistance • Reduces hunger benefits of coconut oil : • Great for cooking because it doesn’t smoke when it gets hot • Increases HDL cholesterol • Great for skin • Helps lower plaque • Supports the immune system • Digests slowly Thank you Dr Berg!!
I started fasting after watching one of your videos about 6 weeks ago. My belly fat has reduced very quickly with little effort. This is life changing. TY
I found that putting both the MCT oil and coconut oil helped my digestive system tolerate the MCT oil better. So I always combine the two. Plus, The coconut oil adds a nice flavor to my coffee. I cannot tolerate dairy in my coffee. It aggravates my GERD and gives me an acid reflux cough that is really annoying.
@@lindareed1374 I found that I could only tolerate smaller amounts like 1 tsp of each, rather than the tablespoon that a lot of people add. Plus I’m just not a fan of super oily coffee. I blend it of course, but I drink it slow so it does let the oil sit at the top again. But at 1 tsp of MCT and 1 tsp of coconut oil, I don’t have any issues. And I might do 2 cups of coffee with that amount. You could start there and experiment with increasing it by small amounts and see how your body responds. It’s easy to find your upper limit with MCT oil though lol. Your body WILL tell you. I’ve done just coconut oil in higher amounts with zero issues, but it’s the MCT oil that I have to be more careful with. I wish I didn’t because that’s the one that gives you the extra ketones, more brain power, and energy and all that. But combining it with coconut oil definitely helps me.
Thank you Cher, I will try to use only 1 tsp of MCT oil and add the coconut oil and hope this works because I agree it gives me that boost I need to stay in my fast.
I have been healthy but added MCT oil, which I purchased from my health food store, based on general recommendations. My LDLs and triglycerides were high after about two months on this product. My HDLs have always been high, around 60, and I attributed this to olive oil. My other labs were normal, including my CRP. The only difference in my diet was the addition of the MCT oil. It seems to be the culprit.
Your information is so clear and researched based. I have forwarded one of your videos on using bile as a supplement for shoulder pain and fibromyalgia and my doctor was surprised to hear what you shared, and gave me a thumbs up on getting your bile supplement. I am so pleased that I can count on you for researched information and products!
Thank you Dr. Berg so much! As always you deliver relevant content get straight to the point and deliver the facts and such a relatable way with such an amazing bedside manner. Thank you so much for being gentle and helping me to learn so very many things. You are a great teacher of Wellness!
Thank you for the explanation it is so much easier for me to listen to your explanation than wade through all the info on the internet. Love these short infoclips.
Lost a lot of weight without effort since adding oils and salts back to my diet. My body stopped storing fat! No keto just lost the 'crap' from the diet, moved more, added meditation and now am back to my long standing weight of 10 stone 10. @ 6 foot in height. Good energy levels Sugar is my issue. Next to beat I only have it in tea, but... Several of them. I am weaning off tea by adding green tea to black tea, to alter the taste to favour a move to green tea. Now I have water kefir, that could change!
i just add cocao powder to my greentea to give it flavor. if u gotta add sweetner use small amounts of either raw honey or non glycemic coconut sugar. im surprised dr Berg hasnt done a video about coconut sugar
I love the part of meditation. I did that also. Understanding and feeling your emotions, rather than hiding from them or omitting. Being yourself and with yourself. I noticed that "storing" emotions caused, in my case, storing fat. When I started meditating regularly, my body just opened as my emotions went out to be felt. I didn't have a big problem with weight though, just over 8kg. But visually, like 15kg since my muscles were weak. Now proportions changed. I'm stronger than ever, both mentally and physically.
@@solekhashuwa i no longer eat seed oils...instead i use organic veg/animal fats like grassfed butter , fresh avocado, icelandic cod liver oil (mixed with pure essential oil of choice like mint)
I have dropped down from 230 to 186 by making slight changes that you described. I have three favs that I follow and, actually four, and always cross reference with your videos for the breakdown. Computer dude to writer I have benefited from your channel. I’m a veggie guy though, meat messes with my tum quite a bit. Thank you kind sir.
I used to take 1-2tsp of MCT-oil. You're definitely right about starting small. Personally, I don't know if it was the MCT, the coffee or the increase in ketones, but I got stressed out and a serious headache. Powerful stuff!
I was wondering if eating the coconut itself would be more beneficial than the extracts? Thank you as always Dr Berg for all the wonderful information you share with us🙏🙏🙏
I take a supplement of MCT oil 120 mcg and D3 5000 IU. I can't eat coconut oil cause it makes me nauseated. The supplement doesn't. Do I need more than 120 mcg of MCT? Thanks Doc for your videos. I am hooked on them..lol Love and blessings to you and your's.
My first experience with MCT oil was more than 20 yrs ago and I had no idea how good it was...then i stopped but I prefer coconut anyway...I made some good guesses I suppose
I'm using coconut oil for years but didn't know anything about MCT. Sounds good. I'll try it but what I've just found out, it's way more expensive! So sad!
I suspect that MCT doesn’t have the antiviral effect that regular organic extra virgin coconut oil has. from my experience, but I think you’re right that MCT is good for certain things like gall bladder issues, my mom uses MCT and has a gall bladder issue
Mct oil sends my histamines through the roof, more so than coconut oil. Didn't make sense to me until I googled it. Apparently it blocks antigen absorption and causes a th2 response. Sucks because most cbd oil is mixed with mct oil.
MCT oil acts as a laxative in my body. I couldn’t take CBD oil with it as a result. I looked for an alternative CBT oil and found one mixed with olive oil which is fine for me. I also thought about trying a tincture which uses an alcohol base but haven’t needed to yet.
Is MCT oil refined?? Coconut oil can be found virgin/extravirgin, cold pressed and unrefined... And since nutrients are preserved in unrefined oils, not sure of the MCT... Any opinion on this?
@karin E Alvarez Of course MCT oil is refined. Keyword is “extracted”! Probably safer to stick with coconut oil unless one is sure of the method of extraction.
I may have to try this. I've been using a combination of EVOO with a little bit of Primal Kitchen ranch for my salads. I've always loved ranch dressing, so was thrilled when I discovered PK ranch
I thought coconut oil was 40 - 50% lauric acid - which is almost considered a long chain FA, because it’s C12 - and then the rest was MCT’s like capric, caproic and caprilic acid - this last one being C8 - the most ketogenic of all MCT’s.
thank you, dr. berg... usually i have an Espresso with MCT. Today i had a cup of coffee and in lack of mct I used coconut oil. boah 😰 now i understand, why my liver reacted so hard and felt badly swollen in due to my gallbladder-isue
Again realized that triglycerid fat as in calf tallow, calf feta can handle my insulin resistance as allergic to coconut I now can not find mct made from palm oil. The other thing I want to mention is oxalat acid, the elephant in the room, I just recently got toxicated by green kale, China kale contains half the amount! This is a serious topic that you must mention!
Been listening to you for years I’ve change my eating habits listening to you I went from 280 to 206 three male 64 years old. And I look pretty damn good now LOL
I’m confused @dr berg in the previous video about the benefits of coconut oil you stated that coconut oil has 70% MCTs and in this video you say it only has 15% MCTs, so which is it?? 🤔
C12 is much much better in raising insulin sensitivity than C8 or C10. I am taking C12 only and not doing Keto but losing weight faster than when I'm on MCT..
I've contacted Dr. Berg's team several times to ask what percent of c8 caprylic acid is used in the MCT Oil sold on his website and CANNOT get an answer. The bottle labeling doesn't provide this detail though nearly every product on the market does provide this information. A simple question and something that should appear on the bottle?? This raise doubts about the quality of the Berg MCT Oil product.
Dr. Berg, can I mix MCT Oil with Collagen Peptides in my morning coffee? And what type of ratio, if permitted? I am about to try some keto smoothies, I am hoping to include both. Thank you for all the great info. Love the shorts. My journey to health continues 😃
@@maryfolks9368 Hey I am taking collagen with no net carbs so 10% Protein for satiety to continue my fasting. I hope you are doing well on your journey, thanks for your comment, really appreciate it 😊
@@onyx368 the one I use is Vital Proteins collagen peptides. It says it has 70 calories, 18 g Protein and 110mg Sodium but doesn't list the carbs. Maybe it doesn't have carbs? Lol. Anyways if it's possible to get my collagen in my bullet proof coffee in the morning...I'd be a happy camper. I keep forgetting to drink my coffee w/collagen when I have my OMAD. Thank you too for your response. I'm still trying to educate myself on what works best for me but I have lost 23 lbs in less than a month and that's with all the mistakes I keep making. I have a tendency to over complicate things🤪 lol
my parents both have early stages alzhiemer and my father has prostate cancer that has spread to his bones and elsewhere,i have stareted giving them 1 tablespoon of coconut oil mixed with honey,is this alright or should i get them some MCT oil to take and if so how much should they take ? i have also started giving my dad 2 apricot kernels to take each day,am i doing the right thing ? thank you DR, you are amazing.
Hello doctor, I would like to ask you is it true that combining fish with milk causes skin irritation, I am very afraid of irritating my skin because I combined them in the morning 😫
Omg! You're from Manitoba? Sorry to divert from the original subject. Please what is Manitoba like? I have a neice in school there. Have been wondering what is like.
That’s good you can get it in Manitoba, Canada. Dr Berg’s stuff is usually the more expensive stuff anyway, and even if this one product is cheaper you’d still have to get a bunch of more stuff that’s more expensive so that you’re not paying an exorbitant amount for shipping. So it’s good to get it local, plus no waiting a week or more for it to get to you. So you win!
Dr Berg In your other videos you said coconut oil to reverse dementia because of mctoil. But in this video you said coconut oil is only 15percent mct oil. So should we take mct oil or coconut oil?
Philippines has a lot of mct oil. I take everyday.Cold pressed coconut centrifugal process. Its affordable here because only people with knowledge buy it.😆
Thank you Dr Berg as always you are appreciated. Looks like MCT is needed for IR are you able to do both? Also its been stated that Coconut oil helps with bones ?
Years ago I was told I was allergic to coconut. I have steered away from things with coconut with MCT oil be acceptable or is this still considered coconut product?
heey Doc .! great all the Subjects and research u're taking over..🙂🙏 thnx 4 all . and i'd love to hear about ARGAN OIL too as most of poeple don't know that exist..so is there any benifits..comparing to the other oils..? thnx a lot ..and respect🙏🙏
Can we use coconut oil if mct is difficult to find ...its sometimes difficult find good mct ..cos i travel a lot in my job ..but coconut oil id often available
Do you have to seriously count the saturated fat content of MCT oils as you usually would? Or can they be neglected? I am asking because too much saturated fats can have servere adverse effects. Some recommendations of saturated fat intake from mct oils are pretty high.
