It is pretty easy to remove the injectors and get them checked, but a bit more difficult to install them again.
Under the injectors you have a insert and under that insert there is a copper ring, and the whole thing is of course stuck pretty well so quite a job to remove without a special tool.
I then bought a internal bearring remover in the correct size, but then there was a new problem.
You also need new copper washers and have to tighten the injectors with a torque wrench.
Tools and parts I used :
3580631 - 3 pcs. gasket between injector and return line - 37 USD
3580077 - 3 pcs. gasket under the injector - 17 USD
3580075 - 3 pcs. gasket under the insert - 24 USD
Loctite 574 (fluid gasket) - 38 US Dollars
Beta torque wrench model 606/10 3/8" 20-100 Nm. - 208 USD
Jackhammer (slide hammer) and special tool - 72 USD
Nozzle check and ultrasound cleaning - 73 USD

Excellent work. This low pressure fuel system has continuous self-bleeding. This circulates fuel via the return piping back to the tank. It keeps of air from affecting the injection pump but not if its a large quantity of air. You can manually pump much fuel/air through this circuit. Very little fuel goes from the injectors into this circuit for mechanical injection (the Brits call this Leak-off).

Nice video Tino, a bearing puller is definitely a good tool to have, I find I always need more tools and sometimes I get pretty frustrated when I need to order more to get the job done. Patience is the key. Cheers

Thanks :) And yes I also ordered parts multiple times for my injector project, have also done a lot of research to be sure I have done it right. The point with the project was also to learn about the engine and how it is build and why.

Great videos. Thank you for your work, I can imagine how long it takes. It's a pity I didn't see these videos when I first got into the fuel system of my MD2020 I join in the request to include English subtitles. It seems to me that this can be done simply in the video settings, nothing needs to be altered.

Thank you for your video. Really thorough and very informative. My 20-30 is burning a lot of fuel (white smoke). Took my injectors for service and ordered the 4 parts (2 gaskets, heat shield, insert) (you have 3 on your 20-20). Hope my mechanic has the extractor as some gaskets, heat shield and insert are still in the engine. Also did a compression, 1 was 17 BAR another 18 BAR while the middle one only managed 2 BAR. As my engine was sitting for a few years my mechanic is hopeful that the low compression on middle piston is some carbon residue on the valves or a piston ring that got stuck and that after inserting the serviced injectors things will go back to normal, Your opinion and insights on this point is highly appreciated. Thank you once again.

To loosen up the pistonring a known trick is to fill in a bit of automatic transmission fluid into the cylinder and let it sit for some days. An alternative is to buy a additive for the oil, you can get a compression enhancer additive wich also loosens up the piston rings. If you don't see any improvements I think it's the valve or in worst case a broken piston ring.

Great video thanks a lot! But do you really need to change the insert as well? For my D1-30f it does not state that in the service manual.
@twiper
@twiper 4 года назад
You must only change the copper gaskets and re use the old inserts.

@@twiper wow quick response thanks🙂 but i think i just found out my engine does not have the insert. Can that be the case?
@twiper
@twiper 4 года назад
@@steegzor5161 Yes your engine has only a copper gasket in the bottom and one in the top of the injector, so a bit more easy to do the job.

Hi I have the 2030, when I took the injectors out the inserts were stuck on the end, so all I have to do is change the little copper washers in the head, is this right?

Hej, upptäckte fel vid din montage av spridare 9:43. Koppar brickan(3580075) ska vara monterad på insats ringen (3580076) och efter monteras i motor. Koppar brickan ska inte ligga ovanpå ringen som är faktum i din video.
