The old adage, "measure twice, cut once" rings true for Davin today as we measure for oil clearance before our crank is reground. Davin's been rebuilding engines too long to just trust the numbers that come from the factory. So today, he's not being lazy and putting in the extra step to verify that everything on the rods and mains is as it should be. Plus at the end of the day, we get a surprise visit from an old friend.

Watching Dave work and explain stuff makes rebuilding a motor seem so much more achievable for someone like me

As a retired machinist and later engineer I would suggest checking your bearings for size in at least three places in case of out of roundness. Even if the block just been line bored or honed you can have hard spots in cast material that causes it to not machine properly.

Davin, seeing that Buick straight eight engine restored and in it's appropriate new home was great. That '51 Buick Super convertible is a treasure. I'm a convertible guy myself. I own a '12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible. I'm learning about my car and have so far done front and rear disk brake reline and changed out the power steering fluid on my car.

Would like to see a more detailed article on the Buick install into a newer frame and then the frame adapted to the body. Great show!

That Buick makes me want to drive in to the local "A&W" and have the car-hop bring out a frosty mug of root beer on the tray that hangs off the half-open window!! What a great car!!! 😍🤩 (I believe I just showed my age!!!! 🤣)
