@@KageRyuu6 nah, he shot the right arm off the Maurauder, then turned and started shooting at the enemy Spider, which was already engaged by two teammates. Sure enough, the enemy Marauder puts some PPC shots into him. WTF move.

And what I think was a Myrmidon, something that could have nailed him with 3-4 ppc hits. Thunderbolt's weakness is poor rear armor, not something to do this in.

To be fair, the Firestarter is a very close range Mech. That being said, he could have assigned the hovertank to his lancemates and focussed on disabling the Firestarter.

Being that the testing group last I heard is mostly if not all comp players now, you see more nerfs to the average player thats finds something that works.

Having played with the guys when they were first balancing....they haven't gotten any better. They took MWO from being decent to completely ruining it with his 'balancing' - all because he couldn't grasp the simple mechanics of their own damned game.

I had some minor input in the beginning of MWO talking with one of their Devs, it was obvious from the outset that not one of them had the slightest idea what they were doing. Problems that had been identified and SOLVED years ago in previous releases were being remade, none of them had any knowledge of the franchise or the game. Extremely disappointing.

Getting a real kick out of how the LRMs occasionally fail to track their targets because they started moving sideways. Also, I like how torso twist was bound to the rotation axis on the joystick. Guess Piranha skimped out on pedals when making the super pods.

The buildings appear to have no 'weight' to them. Or to put it in Battletech terms, no Construction Factor. You don't appear to slow down at all when you impact them and have no fear of a trip and fall or taking any damage. Is it even possible for a lighter mech to use a building as a perch?

well when a 65 (130,000 lbs) ton mech with a speed of 50 km runs into a a building I dont expect the mech to slow down to be honest. the kinetic energy is far too great.

@@Holret I'm fairly sure the buildings have more mass than the mechs do, and they're immovable objects too. You might break a wall and break some bits here and there but walking through buildings like they're made of paper just looks silly, no slowing down, no damage.. just goofy.

@@Foksuh yeah sounds bout right, except that you need to look at real world examples of tanks going through buildings. generally those buildings dont stand a chance despite their size and weight. Same with fighter jets who crash into buildings (some weight as much as 37 tons, fully loaded). substantial damage is done to them. And we are talking mechs. Compressed armor colliding into a single point of impact, do the math.

I really dont understand why everything must be state of the art graphics - lots of potato pilots in the community based on what I hear from the MWO players. This looks good, not bad, not amazing - I'd feel better if they made a great game in terms of content and scope rather than only focus on making it eyecandy.

part of the expectation of "state of the art graphics" comes from Mechwarrior's legacy. mechwarrior 2 was one of the most amazing looking games at the time of release. Mechwarrior 3 pushed graphical barriers in 99/00. Mechwarrior 4 might not have been the most graphically impressive at the time but had a very stable engine. Mechwarrior Online even looked amazing when it first came out [though graphical fidelity was lowered over the years to allow lower spec pc's to run it.] Mechwarrior V will have the whole RTX ray tracing tech involved... and I don't think that's needed, but hey, whatever. But yes, that's why there's an expectation on the graphics from mechwarrior V, because historically, the Mechwarior games have been at the forefront of PC graphics fidelity.

nobody sais it has to be STATE OF THE ART- why are you people so narrow minded ?-- it is indeed a BIG stepup from MWO , but that only cause MWO was TOTAL CRAP- but it is 2019 FFS there has to be more efort from the devs, if they want us to realy appreciate their work...as far as I am concerned however functionality and sound mechanics come first..but animations have to be on par with today's standards...couldn't care so much about particles and lightning etc...

Oh, yeah... Unlocking them gives you an advantage of aiming the arm faster than the torso. Also, they can aim higher, especially shooting flying things down.

Know what I find interesting? I've been mentioning how the first and second succession wars had a complete disregard for civilians, including scenes of mech pilots that gone off the deep end to stomp on children pouring out of schools and farms because it was fun. And here we are, at a farm, with children, and mechs attacking it for very little reason. Seemingly because it might be fun. Also I've noticed mechs seem to be scaled closer to canon, far more so than ever done in MWO.

Side note: I think there should be more of a delay between the warning of a dropship on approach and it magically appearing 270 meters in front of you. These things travel, and your support should detect it much sooner than that. It would add a higher degree of pressure and difficulty, knowing that it's coming in X amount of time, do you pull out now or wait to engage them? Are you still engaged with an enemy force, did you resolve fight before they arrive? Can you? Or will you be fighting insurmountable odds due to not being able to clear the current enemy force before the reinforcements arrive?

Player tells his guys to do some fighting because he is taking damage. Player proceeds to use himself as a shield for the enemy preventing any of his team mates to be able to make a shot.

Nobody mention the AI just bum rush you to 200m and do circle of death till someone dies? No tactic, no team work, no weapon range consideration, no focus fire, no terrain awareness (other than avoid building) and no rear arc awareness. It's like watch T5s in MWO. No wonder they are showing off co-op, if Russ had 3 AI lance mate, the demo would've been a cluster f*ck. Although seeing how badly Russ plays, he probably thinks the AI is just fine since that's how he plays. I miss the first trailer's HUD. THAT was progress with on screen target info rather than relying on a separate screen to show enemy conditions. This is just MW4 gameplay in 2015 graphic.

It's pretty close to a stock variant. The single SRM2 is the only odd choice. I wonder if they are still sticking with stock roles with minimal mech lab customization.

Hmm, graphically, very much a step up from MWO, not sure we're pushing any real boundaries, not sure if the RTX tech is in play here or not. Mech movement looks okay, and seeing it's being played with a HOTAS, that makes me happy, about how I want the mechs to move, though a little bit more arm animation would be nice. Music sounds decent and sound effects are fairly punchy I feel. I'm still out a bit on the damage modeling... I feel we can do much better these days. Also, Marauder confirmed, thus the Unseen are in play, which means exactly what I thought, PGI 100% won in the lawsuit against HG.

Yeah I noticed they don't have any reverse kinematics in the animation so just like in MWO, it looks like the mechs are sliding across the ground during their walk cycle.

I like the detail in the buildings like the offices and chairs and such, and damaging them is nice, but there should be A LOT MORE resistance and damage to the mech as well. They shouldn't be untouched like MW4, but in the demo it looks like they don't even exist. I want a mech to smal into a building and damage it but not much more.

Russ has stated in the AMAs that they have a dynamic system in place to slow you down when walking through buildings but that it was turned off for the Mechcon demo. Supposedly it takes in to account the weight of your mech and whatever you're trying to walk through/step on. An example was an assault mech will have an easier time walking through something like a building or stepping on a tank compared to a light/medium mech doing the same. A reinforced building is harder to walk through than a farmhouse and etc. In addition, they've also stated that you suffer a payout penalty for causing to much collateral damage in a mission.

any options to remove the waypoint from showing up on the "outside." I like to read the minimap and compass. I find that following the waypoint kinda gameplay takes away from the game.

Graphics is fine for me, I looking more for a better gameplay: I dont' like the fact a mech can pass trough a building like a knife through butter and with no sort of deceleration, same when he stomp a tank, no deceleration and no legs damage. The entire physics seem to revise, in 19:20 you can see the Griffin trying to jump in a strange way. I'm not happy with the AI, all the enemy mechs in the video seem to follow the same erratic pattern, they are ever in motion switching target continuously trying to avoid the building that you can break through to be then get stuck in small obstacles like the spider at 17:30; here you can also see the marauder keep turning in a silly way. Not sure if this depend by some difficulty settings. I'm not impressed by the music, sound and voice acting, Mechwarrior 2-3-4 were far better and exciting in the audio compartment, the Actors really in the part. Sound of the Large Laser is very very ugly to me.. 9:10 I see a lot more work to do here.

I totally agree with the buildings. It should not only slow you down, but there would be a risk especially for lighter mechs of actually getting stuck. It should be a risk, though in certain cases one worth taking.

@@JohnMichael23inSD It depends on the type of building. A 65 ton mech accelerated to 50 km/h will cut through most buildings like a knife through butter, unless it is a really large reinforced structure. But that factor doesn't seem to have been implemented here so far.

Just have good stick controls. That's all I want. Slower arm and torso movement, acceleration and deceleration times scaled to mass and engine rating, all that other stuff is great. I just want to get the HOTS setup running again.

It's painful to watch. The driver is Russ Bullock, president of PGI. I read on reddit the HOTAS joystick was set up with forward/back to control verticle aiming, left/right controlling leg turning (A&D keys), and to torso twist you rotate joystick left or right. I've never played with that kind of setup and it sounds difficult.

@@seankellyfarmer ive played with that setup before and he should NOT have been fumbling around like he was, it was very painfull to watch his piloting skills there XD other than that looks good just a shame the video quality was not great there, do hope they add some resistance to the mech when going through buildings with more for the larger buildings you go through.

LargeLaser sound @9:10 sounds like a fart! Really PGI, is this a joke to you? Mechs cutting through buildings like nothing, enemies shooting left and right without any sense of weapon advantage or teamwork, UI DOWNGRADE from 2016 trailer makes me really really sad. You have one of the most loyal fanbase, so please take these suggestions from us and make us proud to be battletech fans once again. We don't need another MWO game in single-player. IMMERSION, make it feel more like a battlemech sim for the love of atlas.

I have a feeling that before this the people demonstrating were told: walk through as many buildings as possible to show the destructible environment. and when they put in a real AI to fight against it will be much better.

@@yaketytak4427 considering the speed size and tonnage of the mechs I don't think concrete to the type of metals used are going to do much at all to the mechs. Scratch the paint maybe some dents. I doubt it do much of any real damage.

I see buildings still act like pieces of cardboard. If they would just take like 30 seconds and look at mw4 and see how the environment interacted with the 'mechs. I mean the (what was it like 2008-2009?) trailer for mw5 before they scrapped it literally showed a 'mech plopping itself on a building and then the building being shot out from underneath it. Why does everything looks weak in this. Buildings and other things in mw4 actually had what seemed to be individual health and would take either melee or weapon damage. I just hope that they capture what I played as a kid in those older games, and actually try and expand upon the existing fun that these games definitely had.

Makes me wonder once this is out the door for sale will MW:O be getting a much needed engine upgrade to UE4 from the locked version of Cryengine 3.4 it currently is in.

im imagining this game is going to take high amounts of CPU and RAM to run correctly with all the damage effects and different hit boxes on each mech. What are the minimum requirements to run this

So -- why is it that the weapon names listed in the weapons group panel on the bottom right of the screen keep flickering so badly throughout the whole recording? Is that just because of the capture method? Cause if that's in game that would be rather annoying to me.

white indicates that the target your reticle is over is within that weapon system's range, gray means it is out of range

@@jamesharris7919 Wow, okay if that's what it's doing it isn't very effective to me. The way it looks right now I would assume it's a glitch. Too sporadic and It's not affecting the entire line but just the name of the weapon. Thanks for the explanation though.

They light up when what you are aiming at is inside the effective range of the weapon, since the potato pilot that recorded the gameplay couldn't keep his aim steady, they go on and off all the time.

@@Phoboskomboa The guy playing is Russ Bollock, the president of PGI, and not a MWO player, experienced or otherwise. In case you don't believe me, watch the video again and see how often he shoots LRMs inside the no damage zone, or how he is unable to manage his heat. Also the remark at the end in which he says that it looks like he was doing all the work because he is more damaged.

Buildings should hurt you. If you walk to far into the core, They should collapse and slant into you (skyscrapers)

Missiles could look and feel a little more visceral. The seem kind of... toy-like? Hopefully there is an option to get a tone for target lock and destruction. The voice feedback seems out of place for BattleTech. Too tech rich for the the whole genre.

I agree, the maneuvrability seemed like it didn't differ much. In the lore those little buggers could go upwards of 130kph, and that was before the clan showed up with their XL engines.

I like the modeled cockpit, and the enemy variety that discourages boating. It's a little disappointing that smashing through a building doesn't slow down a 'mech at all (especially considering the physics involved).

I'm a big fan of the new laser style, it's more correct that it wouldn't be visible as a constant brightness beam I'd love for in the future if it was based off volumetric smoke and dust I like that the missiles agent perfect hits and can't track perfectly But I'd love for them to travel at a more realistic speed (faster) I love the destructive capacity of the buildings, something that had to be skipped in MWO that was sorely missing from the MW series But there needs to be some more "junk" in the open spaces, people make footpaths put up fences and leave trash around where they live Overall, I'm pretty stoked for this and this demo video has me the most stoked so far

It has many elements from the former games; nice. And some design features from mech commander (the arm movements) . The AI needs improving tho, they look quite confused, especially the mechs. The Hud is uninspiring but it works, hopefully we can change it if not... well mods will be an option. Other than that, Im buying the game.
