Pre-alpha demo footage of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, announced during the keynote presentation at Mech_Con 2016. Subscribe to GameSpot Gameplay! / gamespotgameplay
Honestly piranha would be smart to make this the official Clan DLC update and cinematic for it, update the sound design and because the clans use omnimechs they could use that as an excuse to import the mechlab from MWO and let the YAML guys go wild
Everything about this pre-alpha footage is amazing. Contrast that with what actually released, I'm very let down. The sound design here is great! That med laser sounds like it burns. the AC5 has oomph and power. The yellow dynamic HUD is next level and super informative. What we got on release day compared to this is literally completely different and worse. Why couldn't they just keep what they originally had in mind. It's what got everybody excited!
VR! VR! I've been saying it for almost a year now! You want a VR system seller? You want a LICENSE TO PRINT MONEY?! Mech Warrior VR! There's a huge fan base that hasn't been really fed in a decade or so, the immersive feel would be gold for the gameplay, and the fact that you ACTUALLY ARE IN A COCKPIT would help resolve nausea issues naturally, while actually INCREASING immersion! Make it good. Make it customizable (your mechs). Make it smooth. Make it like riding in a walking nuclear tank of absolute destruction! Although, I do have to say, given that the scout looked like a Raven, and it looks like you were in a Hunchback, equipped with a PPG, some kind of cannon, and some missiles (probably SRMs), it looks like killing the enemy may have been a lot harder than it should have been.
it was kinda explained in the first half of the video, a mech restored with old parts and a tight budget, versus a mech that's most likely properly maintained with decent parts, and has had time to warm up, i think this was a perfectly reasonable amount of struggle
d3str0i3r plus if you add in the points of impact for his shells, he hit almost all the most slanted and redundant areas, meaning high deflection and low penetration. Not to mention low probability of damage to critical systems.
Especially since its using the Unreal engine .. native VR support .. no need for motion controls .. its basically like ticking a box. It would be stupid for them not to ... so thank fuck they are not stupid.
Just do it the old fashioned way! Mechwarrior is well known for it's flight stick/control pod compatibility. VR is chump change compared to the authentic mechwarrior experience!
Shah Ashraf I've not much hope for the game in all honesty. They'll likely delegate multiplayer to MWO, and the campaign will probably be linear with set-pieces
Jesus Christ, I fell in love with MechWarrior when I played Mechwarrior 3. I later got Mechwarrior 4 plus all the expansions for it. I'm so fucking glad they are finally going back to the roots with Mechwarrior 5. I'll put countless hours into this game just like I did 3 and 4. Sooooo pumped for this game!
@@Albert87nl Excellent actually, while MW5 has it's issues I love and enjoy the game greatly. It still retains that Mechwarrior feeling for me and it's a refreshing blast from the past, but with modern graphics.
Vengence and mercenaries played such an integral role in my pc childhood I am stoked as Fuck for this although I wasn't interested in the online game just because not a huge fan of pvp in games like this.
Considering that this is PreAlpha footage for the campaign we haven't seen anything yet. Comparing Mechs to Titans I will go with a Mech any day. Titanfall 2's campaign was great though.
titanfall is a good game a amazing game i loved both but they don't stand a chance against the king of the mech catergory mechwarror is the equivalent of call of duty for mech games except good it got a fucking tv show board game as big as Dungeons and dragons multiple games rts and normal and one bad fucking ass universe titanfall pails in comparasion in every catergory considering mechs 6 fucking chassis? try 55 each with at least 3 variants (usually 5 for heavy and above) each special design and visual differences when equipping other weapons titanfall 2 is a amazing game and i would give it game of the year but it pales in comparison to the king so go on take the seat of a noble or some prince but you will never ever dethrone the king
Oh, the possibilities of in- and out-of-mech experiences you could create. I would fucking shitplaster you people with awesome quicktimeevents running on foot between moving mechs fighting in a hangar, speeding away in a hovertank followed by light mechs then dangling from a cannon cracking open a cockpit and fight to the death with the pilot inside taking over his mech WHHOOOOOOO
This game title and IP has longer history than today's kids known. This is one of IPs that starts it all,Mechwarrior/Battletech and Gundam is essentially western and eastern counterpart,no titanfall/hawken or other modern western mech game will exist without this IP. So stop calling this game a clone of something from today's mech game.
Battletech was released 1 year before (1984 for battletech and 1985 for robotech). Also, robotech is derived from other series, the biggest one being macross (with series being released to this day). And let me tell you, macross (and mospeada, and sothern cross) have basically 0 similarities to battletech beyond the "this is a mech series" basic "description". The mechs are different (mech that can transform into planes and fight in almost any situation vs whats essentialy walking tanks), the combat is different (fast-paced, highly "athletic" fights vs lumbering giant walkers that at best can jump) the "feel" is different (what with "lets save human kind and attain peace vs mercenaries duking it out across the galaxy). This does not mean one is superior to other (tastes are subjective and all that), but they are neither similar, nor robotech is older. As a side note, gundam predates them both (1979), and there is a reason it is credited as the creator of the real robot genre, in which things like battletech, patlabor or FMP! are based on.
Piranha are just terribly bad at using Cryengine. Also, the version that they are using is just some half-cooked pos, because they didn't want to spend more money on stuff that Crysis 3 runs on. Also, I have no doubts that they will fuck this one up too.
Secretly hoping they use the single player as a base for porting MWO to Unreal. Course I don't have programming experience works. I don't know if they can just apply netcode to it.
"It is the 31st century and mankind is once again at war!" Oh man, I've spent my childhood playing mw3, 11 years later I see this! ... THE HOPE IS REAL! I wish there wes also a remastered version of mw3 (._. )
Your fault for getting invested in any Mech game that didn't have "Mercenaries" at the end. Serious though, do tell: what kinda cheat was he using and how did you find out?
I still have my original retail disks as well, and all the mekpak mods without the added mechs. I still play the game often. I played the game just the other day.
I came back to this trailer, after watching the latest gameplay trailer. I just can't believe how Pirahna can go from a Mechwarrior 3 gameplay-styled game to MWO with flashier graphics, tanks and destructible environment and people would just lap this shit right up. I am highly disappointed.
This looks super nice for a pre-alpha, aside from the low field of vision and the cannon having zero feeling. Movement is really good and has weight, too. I'm happy they decided to retain the independent leg movement and didn't go for the typical first person movement as well. I'm excited !
Oh my God! This is going to be so epic, I hope it comes out for consoles! I know so much more about the Battletech universe than i should. The only thing greater than playing it on table is the modern video game interpretations.
As a hardcore player of MechWarrior 4 mercs, i have to say 1.- Voice actors have to improve a lot 2.-Game fluidity is missing 3.-Make it more like mech warrior 3 and 4,MWO was a huge dissapoiment hope community read and share their opinions too lindsay out
Agree with 3, but on the other 2 points - This is extremely early alpha. Like, the only 2 mechs in the game when this trailer was done probably was only the Shadowhawk and the Raven. I fully expect the first 2 points to be addressed by the full release.
I agree the Voice acting of MW2, 3 and 4 are by far superior. Here it's like: "Ok, let's make badass voices because Battletechs and Mechwarriors are badass". Heeeeeeemmm... Nope...
It's a disappointment because they charge you ridiculous amounts of real money for literally everything. Want a new paint job for a SINGLE mech? $20. Want to buy a new mech? $20. Want to unlock a new mech with in game money? That'll take you 20 hours of play. Want to convert experience? Real money again. The whole game is a money grab scam.
First thing that comes to mind is that Raven delivering the finishing blow on that Mad Cat (screw you and your clanner designations) in Mech Commander's opening
Scouts and sensor platforms tend to get wasted first 'cause they're so far forward, and their armor/weapons are far lighter. It doesn't surprise me at all that something like a Raven would get eaten first. Also, that Raven in _MechCommander (1)'s_ opening did a back shot with only two volleys of SRM2 _after_ his teammates opened it up for him.
omg, looks great! Is this the Mechwarrior game we've always wanted?! Used to play the tabletop miniature and RPG game (and PC versions) as a kid. It's a shame they don't build a third person RPG game into a game like this as well. That would be EPIC!!!
Would be neat if the Battletech game coming out combined with it in some way. They are using a lot of the Mech designs PGI made, so it would match up pretty well. battletech.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
Awesome... MechWarrior 2 was one of the first PC games I ever played. Look forward to getting back in a mech again! Now I want a LEGIT BattleZone 3! Someone make that happen!
you can feel the weight of the mech on every step and the scale of it looks pretty accurate, not like now in mechwarrior online. Its a big improvement for piraña games im really surprised. im totally going to buy this when comes out. (i want to see the new atlas model !!)
Oh dear god, please, PLEASE let there be the ability to use the Hatchetman/Axeman. The Axeman has always been one of my favorites in the TT, always dreamed of seeing it in a proper Mechwarrior game.
Titans are fast and cool and all, but theres nothing like the feeling of a big ass, bad ass, mother fucking Battlemech stomping around like a god damn tank. These things were made to just shoot the hell out of each other.
