MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries teaser, revealed at Mech_Con 2017 MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will be available on December 10th, 2019! Purchase on the Epic Games Store! www.epicgames.com/store/en-US...
FINALLY a game that is staying loyal to its roots instead of trying to re-imagine itself to appeal to a wider audience. This is exactly what Mechwarrior should look and play like.
When people say "I played such and such game as a kid, so this is a dream come true", I now know how they feel. Mechwarrior 4 was my teenage life on PC. An incredible game for its time. It looks like they've recaptured the combat really well. Fingers crossed!
ProteusX2 cool, I was in The Scorpion Kings and hung out with the Black Lions alot if you rememeber either. Also the 55th Northern Raiders have been revived, the55th.com is active again, not sure what they play offhand.
Im glad to see the Original Mechwarrior series making a comeback! Do keep in mind however, Piranha Games, that this series was originally made as a Simulator games, designed for joystick controls. I hope you keep that in consideration when finalizing this!
Uziel The mouse is more better in my opinion. It gives you fast control at quick note. Like when shooting smthn at your back, you can use the mouse to rotate quickly and fire, compared to a joystick.
From the Polygon article from about a week ago: www.polygon.com/2017/11/29/16702346/battletech-mechwarrior-5-mercenaries Looking at it now, VR is being looked at, not necessarily confirmed. But joysticks and Track IR seem to be for sure. If you want to quickly find where in the article it is, then look for the section headed with "Rolling the Dice," the paragraph you are looking for is the second one up from that header. If you're having trouble finding that header, it is just above the picture depicting the player fighting an Atlas at close range.
I'm gonna make a comment on this just so anyone watching the video isn't plagued with all the misinformation being given down below: The "$500 microtransactions" talked about in MWO were under IGP in 2013, the previous publisher of the game, and haven't been done since. All of the mech packs available in MWO are generally priced at $15-$20, fairly reasonable for new monthly content in a F2P game (considering they're released for in-game currency a few months after release, too) and there haven't been any of the $80-$120 mech packs for, quite literally, years - again, under the previous publisher, IGP. Mechwarrior 5: Mercs has been stated to be a /single-player and co-op experience/, with minimal DLC and full mod support with steam workshop. Debate the trailer as much as you like - it's still in alpha but I respect people's opinions about how it might look - but don't listen to salty scaremongers talking about microtransactions and "duh PGI is bad." From 2016 to 2017, PGI has made a lot of progress on MWO, provided support to both Harebrained Schemes and Catalyst for other MW/BT products, and given a lot of free stuff to their players through both monthly events and special occasions like the new holiday rewards just announced. Don't be so quick to dump PGI in the dirt for actions 3-5 years ago when they weren't even in full control of their product. There are plenty of things for both PGI and the MW5 alpha worthy of criticism, but anyone that tells you MW5 is gonna be microtransaction heavy is objectively false.
Even if it looks like MW4, as long as it has a campaign mode I'm happy with it. Besides most of these people complaining on the graphics are probably console users used to upscaled washed up textures... and they won't see this game for their platforms anyways. I'm happy they decided to make some MW based game that's not a COD with mechs like MWO is.
Being fair with a lot of the textures and assets used here too, it's still pre-alpha, so I assume they'll be replaced with better looking ones once the hard coding work and core assets are all done with
Ermmm, no. PGI knew exatly what they we're doing BEFORE IGP got in the train. They DO HAVE a chance to make it right but I will not, for a second give them a inch without some very solid evidence they changed their ways. It's not scaremongering, I was a founder that was promissed a great many things and got the shaft.
4 player co-op in campaign mode? My body is ready! Though still seems a bit twitchy for a mech-sim game. Can't wait to hear what The Rageaholic has to say about this.
I am very eager for another classic Mechwarrior game for the PC (i.e. single-player focused), and I'm happy for it to be a Mercs title too. I hope it turns out awesome.
My god my deepest and wettest dream come true a new mech warrior game Mercenaries on top of it oh man oh man oh man, this trailer made me want it i need deets more deets
Has Piranha mentioned what mercenary group the campaign will be following? The unit logo, Lyran fists, and the message from the parents make me think Grey Death Legion... even if the logo isn't exactly the same (original GDL logo was a bleached skull on a red backdrop).
I'm really excited for this game, I'm going to probably play it almost exclusively in co-op mode. I think I can speak for many when I say that the first HUD that was revealed looked much more interesting and intuitive than the most recently shown one. Not that the new version is bad, it looks like MWO's, but the first one that you showed off looked better. In any case, I look forward to playing this on my rift.
They haven't, that lawsuit is still ongoing. However, it relates to specific mechs (which they'll most likely not include in MW5 unless the judge grants them their currently pending request for summary judgment agains HG) #FuckHGWithAnElectrifiedChainsawThatIsOnFire
Whoo! Looking good everyone! I'm excited to play! This game series is one of the fondest memories of my late father, I used to watch him play this for hours at a time when I was a kid.
Mishka Blackpaw Which MW game did he play? MW2 was in the late 90s, and it had online play, and there was definitely an online community for it, even though it started in DOS.
I am glad, I am not playing Mechwarrior games for graphics :-D Seriously the games looks like it's at least 5yo. Not that it is a problem, if the rest of the game is solid. BTW "story" sounds incredibly generic. Please guys no more "you are the one" bullshit. Just give us some decent "low amount of cliche" Battletech story. We don't need COD in our Mechwarrior.
Apparently, there's going to be a lot of procedurally generated levels / merc contracts. Prob why the environments look kinda meh. Spread yourself thin and you have the depth of a puddle. Hopefully, you're right about the gameplay.
Cringed hard when I heard "You were born for this." Then the bitchin' betty startup sequence made it all better. But seriously Piranha, everyone is tired of this stupid trope. Just let us be a normal merc in the Battletech universe.
It's a couple of (now dead) parents telling their child who just got a barely functional merc company dumped on their lap that they can do it. It sounds pretty par for the course for parental encouragement if you ask me. It's not like the fucking leader of a Great House is saying it or something.
GIMME A CAMPAIGN SET IN THE FEDCOM CIVIL WAR! The First Succession Tussle would be cool too. I mean, I'm still gonna get it whatever era it's set in but still.
Dearest of Pirahnha Games. I am delighted to see your continued efforts to carry the Battletech/Mechwarrior torch onwards and I wish great accomplishments onto you, on this particular front. I was a moderator volunteer early on in your MWO efforts and invested a lot of time and money on that game. So what am I about to say, is merely a suggestion I hope you will process: Mood/Atmosphere: Battletech Noir (think Bladerunner and what Heath Ledger did to the joker), mostly dark and very limited (but not void of-) bright colours - Some missions/quests are on foot, and not necessarily involving combat. Some are even social. - Getting into a vehicle/mech should feel very much like getting into a giant machine (and not just a 'fade-to-black' and voila you're in your cockpit. No actually getting into it) and you should always feel like a person in a machine - Commandeering a mech should feel very heavy, difficult and daunting, but extremely powerful - Sometimes you need to live in your mech, like tankers in real life sometimes have to live in their tank - Be in line with- and respective to canon lore, no matter what time period - The environment should affect you and your mech, and should be immersive (rain, snow, sludge etc. on the cockpit window and mech frame) - Your mech can break down/get destroyed and its your job to survive that eventuality, as well as mech recovery if desirable/possible - Game shouldn't be broad like Skyrim, but should be very deep in details for all things it does - Tactics are very much front and centre. It should Not be a generic action packed arcade shooter. The game And franchise will suffer. Look to the games of old (Mechwarrior 2: Merc, Mechwarrior 2 etc.)...look to the Battletech game coming up and the ones that go before it. This is supposed to be tactical warfare. I realise this is not the game you have made here and some of the suggestions put forward, are not possible. I also realise that I am just one person expressing his wishes, but I see no reason why I shouldn't. In simple terms, the list I've given you, is what I would wish that this is the general direction the franchise is taken in. Dark, grungy and powerful. Kind Regards - Scandinavian Heretic, aka, DrHat
Its a bit sad to see people only mention graphics. People should be discussing the new features in the game, the amount of mechs available, release date, storyline, etc. But no, instead the focus is mainly on the graphics.
as an original mech 2 player and fan for life..please let this be good first off, like the old activision days which were way better than the microsoft version and bring back clan chapters please :)
4-Player Co-Op was the only thing I wished for when the first Teaser Trailer came out. I am so hyped and so glad to know that I can have my 3 friends be my lance mates, and not some cold dumb AI
I want it, and I'm a long-time fan of the Battletech and Mechwarrior franchise, but this teaser doesn't really do any justice for the game. Mechwarrior gameplay is rarely an "Action-packed" experience unless you're in a light mech against impossible odds, yet the sound and editing of this teaser makes it appear like it's trying to be this amazing adrenaline rush. If that's what you want, start thinking of the term "Surprise" and consider how you can work that into your gameplay and level design. How can you keep me from thinking "Yea okay, another mission" and instead make me think "OH YEA! This one!" The second time I play it. Creating memorable moments is what keeps players, and active players are the best advertisements. If the in-game experiences become too similar, your game will feel as forced and rushed as this teaser was. Re-negotiate your investment terms if you're running out of funding or sub-contract what you don't have time for, please. For the sake of a good Mechwarrior comeback into the videogame industry.
MWO runs on Cryengine, which is notorious for poor performance. MW5 runs on Unreal Engine 4, which is light-years more efficient as well as offering much more dev options, like the randomly generated maps in campaign.
Other cry engine 3 games run perfectly fine on my system, MWO is the one exception(out of the ones ive played) that runs like complete and utter shit and looks the worst out of all of them to boot. I'm putting the blame on the devs not the engine for MWO's awful performance.
i am looking forward to this game but this looks like mechwarrior online with a battle damage mod and a few npc targets. still going to play it just wanted to throw that out there
Oh please tell me this isn't going to get shut down, and please tell me that co-op is gonna be worked on. I'd love to take the boyfriend and myself into a scenario and wreck face.
