I'm a huge fan of the Oysi frames, so when Cletus announced the medium size I preordered on day one! They just showed up this week and I took them to my favorite ledge to see what they were like.

Thank you for being rad and informative:) I found that the Create Originals Hardware, Thuro has it on stock, works perfectly in the Oysi Medium frames. Yes..the hardware which came with the new frame purchase at RollerWarehouse is a more large gauge. Frames are solid,)

Maybe as skaters we are just used to loose tolerances? When I work on a bike and I can install something like a press fit bottom bracket, or a wheel bearing by hand, there is a problem. 😁 On my K2 frames most of the spacers are so loose that they can literally fall out... 🤢

I don't know if anyone has just used a small industrial C - clamp but thats what I used to put the spacers in and it was super easy. Much easier than the other method I think.

You got the Royales boot down on the Adapts - that makes me positive that I will be able to do them with my Shifts! Yeay! Just got mine shipped to Switzerland today - can't wait to skate them. Didn't have that much problem with the frame spacers. Just did as Cletus explained and it wasn't too finicky - but I wonder why he doesn't pre-install them as in other frames. I'd expect that from a frame - but maybe this is just for the pre-orders?

You got this! Backside is a bit more difficult but frontside no worries! I couldn’t get the spacers to even start without the bearing spacer wheel setup. Maybe mine were tighter than most?

You've probably considered it, but you could always try 64s on the outside, you'd get more variety on hardness. And the might work fine with 58s (if it's like a half mil rocker it might not be noticeable), otherwise 57s or just slightly worn 58s.
@cathycreatesart

Tight tolerances could be better for power transfer, longevity and less noisey/more pleasant sounding landings, I found my original oysi chassis were quite tight tolerances aswell, but they roll like a dream and they're dead silent. Either way, cool video keep up the good work
@BacktoBlading
@BacktoBlading 4 года назад
For sure! Tight frames are the way to go. The frame spacers were a bit upsetting, even the tutorial video seemed easier than what I went through.

Yes I hate how clacky sounding a lot of my frames are and how some frames the spacers just fall out when you remove the wheel. I also love how solid Oysi frames feel and sound which I'm sure is in part to the tight tolerances. Great stuff!

@@BacktoBlading Well, you've done really well mate! Yeah I've been trying to do strengthening exercises and also treating skating like a workout and having protein afterwards which has definitely helped. I'm sticking with my m12's as they are perfectly responsive (I got 2 sizes too big) and comfortable and they're the first pair of skates I've had that don't hurt at all and I've used them most days! I had lazerblade rhino's initially, then oxygens n then k2 fatty pros that I didnt get along with very well and the buckle broke. I tried a flat setup the other week and simply couldn't do my torque slides so I went back to anti-rocker for grinding and a flat setup for cruising and warming up and down. I do love a flat setup though. I might have to invest in some 50/50 balance frames at some point! Oh I will mate. I dont see me ever stopping skating again! Hey there! Thank you so much for your in depth reviews and tutorials! I have a size related question. I am skating a them 908 Size M (should be 8-10 shoesize), with a kizer slimline 2 L (about 277mm) as flat setup. I would like to go for the oysi medium flat setup. Me feet are 260mm long which puts me inbetween, having in mind that’s you said the wheelbase should be shorter in one of your videos. so I don’t know whether I should order the 257mm or 270mm frame?
@bladeshred01
@bladeshred01 Год назад
257mm you will have the wheels closer in and even more swivel sharper turning if you would like the closer in wheels. 269mm you have the same frame but the bolts stick out further at the ends so a lil more stability from the wheels sticking out, more toe protection cause of obvious reasons and since it's a rocker frame you still have the swivel but a lil more spaced out so the cutting in and out while swiveling won't feel as fast as the 257mm but honestly being rockerable frames once you set em to your liking they can both feel similar. Just go with what your skating preference requires.

So I'm looking at the bag's specs, and that laptop pocket comes up a bit short at 15", but that's ok since I already have a bag for my 17-incher anyway. The rest of the specs look really nice... gotta admit, it would be nice to have a nice carry-on bag for my skates like that. I own a couple of the InlineWarehouse 20$ backpacks, and they've... well... had the durability you'd expect from a 20$ backpack. My wife was ok taking the one with a sewn-shut pocket (a zipper to nowhere! It'd be great on the outside, but you don't expect to see non-functional zippers inside compartments like this...). Some great QA right there... While I was in Japan last year, I was always looking for something better but never came across anything that had the functionality I needed. Durability and functionality are crucial, and I'm willing to pay for something that has both. Your bag looks hella cool, too. Not a huge fan of the camo, definitely leaning towards the black...
@BacktoBlading
@BacktoBlading 4 года назад
Yeah, we designed these bags back when Jess and I were judges for the XGames and ASA. Lots of travel, lots of overhead compartments. Finding a bag for skates was always a challenge so we made or own. (Black for me too, I can’t pull off the camo)

Can you expand on the groove a bit. Do you think it’s harder or easier on the medium frame? I’ve had the classics at first but have been thinking about getting the medium for more precision and hitting cess slides or Royals are a bit harder on the classics because of the height, which is why I agree with having a good soul to frame ratio. Also I’m really into wizard skating, like I like to add that into my style while transitioning…. With that being said do you think I can still get that wizard flow feel on the mediums? do you think the mediums are more maneuverable being that the wheel is closer to toe and heel as opposed to further away? I know it’s more forgiving for groove tricks on the classics but don’t you think the wider groove can make you a bit complacent? Like do you think the medium frames would promote better form and effort? Lastly, if you have a bigger foot get the classics but can you go medium but with the bigger version too? What would be the most optimal wizard-like wheel set up for both frames?

I haven’t seen people on blades in 15 years or more lol I assumed it died. In 1987 I had a pair of hyde leather roller blades looked like old school hockey skates and I think Hyde tried suing rollerblade for copyright etc back in the 80s original designed for hockey training.

I’m not sure if it’s related but I have just recently gotten a pair of oysi frames and I experienced like the most frustrating first attempt to get the frame setup properly the spacer kept moving however the second time and everytime after have been much easier maybe the plastic stretches out because it was super hard to put the middle wheels in at first but now it’s allot easier

That might be it. I think there’s a solution, shouldn’t be this frustrating

Back to Blading maybe these frames need to be stored with like a temporary frame axle and wheel so that it’s not warping or shrinking over time while it’s In a warehouse idk if that would help but they seemed to be allot easier to setup after I had actually skated them

Just getting back to blading after a 12 year hiatus. Jealous of your fakie soul tricks, but it looks like you just need to land your back royals with your feet a little farther apart so you have a wider base to squat into and balance on

hi there, im soooo frustrated by the frames. if you got any tips to get the middle wheels in, I would be very happy(and less frustrated).

I'm curious if the frames click after they get old like 99% of ones do it seems... I mean since you said the parts fit super tights. Symmetrix seem like one of the few frames that in every video I've seen the landings all sound like a "thunk" instead of a click. Seems like a weird thing to notice I know, but the clicking in most skates to me makes it sound cheap or rickety.

They’re pretty tight but they fit. Make sure to remove the outside axles. Get the inner wheel over a little bit of the urethane then smack it on a 2x4 or something. It’ll work
