I feel like Medvedev’s whole brand in the tennis world is as a narrative spoiler, and I mean that as a big compliment. Whether it was spoiling the Djokovic calendar slam in 2021, beating Alcaraz in last year’s US Open to spoil the Alcaraz/Djokovic rematch, and now spoiling the Sinner/Alcaraz rematch, he always emerges right as we write him off. Even looking back to the emergence of the Next Gen, Zverev was supposed to be the chosen one, but Medvedev disrupted that narrative too with his accomplishments eclipsing Zverev’s. He may never be the main character of the ATP tour, but he’s always in the mix. As Zverev would say, he puts himself in there.

@@harrdeeharr Zerev is an arrogant prik who can’t control his temper on court and off court. As you said I like Meddy for interrupting and crashing the party. Personally he should have won 2 GS already.

Medvedev seemingly is past his peak that even me thinks maybe Zverev is gonna outpace him now...seems he's still in the mix and there's a still a NextBig Four that's still there to a degree.

@@zjzr08 I wouldn't bet on it. Medvedev is a guy that might not ever again be number one, but I think he will have his fair share of wins against the big boys in the top moments. Kinda like Murray with the big 3.

I saw Sinner take the first set and I thought that he'll win in three(3) sets, but surprise Medvedev won in five. I couldn't watch the rest of the match, but I learned that Sinner had health issues, maybe that explains the outcome. That said, congratulations to Medveded! 👍👍👏 p.s. Too bad, I was looking forward to see Alcaraz vs. Sinner in the next round.

It's a very fun channel. I didn't see anybody else pick Medvedev to win this either to be fair. I was hoping Meddy could win but I wasn't holding out much hope to be honest. Sinner had won the last 5 matches against Meddy before today.
