Did you know that the world's oldest living chicken according to The Guinness Book of World Records is named "Peanut".
Peanut is a Belgian d'Uccle/Nankin mix bantam hen who was born in 2002. But, unfortunately she died last March 2023.
Peanut was raised by Marsi Darwin from Michigan, who rescued her from a cold egg that was abandoned by her mother.
Peanut lived indoors for the first two years of her life, and then moved to an outside coop with other chickens. Peanut laid eggs until she was eight years old, and has several descendants in Marsi's flock.
