The 2004 NBA draft was a great draft year for defensive players. Dwight Howard Emeka Okafor Andre Igoudala Josh Smith Loul Deng Tony Allen Trevor Ariza
He torched Ray Allen. He was hitting contested shots nothing but net not saying a word. Both players are from Uconn and alumni just like to battle each other
He’s 2nd best in this draft class imo. I don’t think Livingston gets enough credit either. 5 straight finals as the back-up PG of one of the best teams of all-time.
Flying V In my opinion he needs to be mentioned in the same realm as Ron Harper. Livingston was never a franchise player, but he showed great scoring promise before his injury. Where Ron Harper sacrificed his personal accolades, Sean Livingston sacrificed his body and his health to come back where a lot of players would’ve seen that as a career ending injury.
Man I think about Jameer Nelson and Delonte West. That 2004 St. Joseph's squad was amazing. And was a single shot away from getting to the Final Four that year.
Beasts he said he still had to go to all the practices and do the team things, had to do the same work everyone else did and had to come sit on the bench when they had games
Top 10!? You're insane. I'll give you the HOF because I think that 5 year run he had is some of the most impressive defensive work I've ever seen but he is not up there with those guys...
Anthony Hutchins the more people he named off I was like umm this draft was actually really solid good role players good starters for years I think he just needed an idea for a video
@Billboardguy1 true. But not every class can be special. What stands out is this class had longevity and great role players. Some of them are still valuable and key players to teams for a long time. Some still to this day
It's not all his fault. It's easy to forget just how young most of these RU-vid creators really are. In 2004 we were watching the draft at the bar. These guys were watching the draft from their race car beds and in the third grade. So if they don't remember these guys early on or in college, it's hard to get the real story from box scores. Just like I missed the 1980's NBA because I was in grade school.
Shuan Livingston....that dude is the man....love his game. Such a high release.....he was money Him and Iggy....my two favorite Warriors. I also loved watching Mo buckets
I feel this was one of the most talented high school classes of all time. But, they went straight to the NBA so the jump may have been a little too much. Dwight of course is the exception, I wanted to see Livingston at Duke, Telfair dominate College as a PG, Josh Smith etc. Again I don't blame them for taking the money out of high school.
The Nets were perennial contenders when Kidd was on the team, Harris meanwhile *never* led the Nets to the playoffs. Kidd would also be key in finally getting Dallas a championship. I remember when the trade went down, most Mavs fans and Dallas media were unhappy with the trade, but I knew pairing him with Dirk would lead to a ring.
Back 2004 when nba is worth watching.. Every team has at least one superstar.. And me playing playstation.. I pick every star in the team to join my created team. That is my happiness on that time
Jameer Nelson was a decent player! He was national player of the year in college and a senior coming out! His game was together! He actually had one of his better seasons when Dwight Howard was gone (2012/13). After he left Orlando, he was a bench/veteran role player so that’s why his numbers went down.
Jameer Nelson's 2003-04 season at St. Joesph was legendary. Any of you guys who were too young to see that look it up. He was one missed three pointer at the buzzer from getting to the Final Four. Actually his response to that miss is something I'll never forget. He wasn't a bitch like say, Adam Morrison. Just the heartbreak was something you could feel through the screen.
The disrespect to 00s kids, these guys made the 2010's nba so good on btv. I still remember everyone of them even the guy that for drafted by thunders.
This class got killed because of advanced stats. Guys such as josh smith, Kevin martin, Tony Allen beno udrih and jr smith all had important roles in their teams but because they weren't efficient scorers(yes i know Allen was defensive stopper and hadnt had big role on offense) nobody execpt dwight and iggy is not in the league anymore from this class. I wish Tony Allen and Kevin martin are still in the league, they would be the perfect fit for today's NBA
Dwight gets underrated because of the off court stuff. He's a top-ten center of all time imo and easy hall of Famer. And before anyone gives me shit for the top ten thing, he's a 3-time DPOY and a 5-time nba rebounding leader.
This is actually a good draft. Not too many all-stars but a lot of starters and solid players that had long careers. I don't think we should just base it on all-stars.
Tony Allen was a super athletic scorer before he tore his acl, after that is when he became a defensive player. He had like 5 straight 20+ point games before the day of the injury
I still find Devin Harris's NBA Career sad, he was really good when he was part of the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets. But after he got traded to Utah...he just began to fall off. After the 2018-19 season...he hasn't returned from the league and is likely retired
Only Iggy and Dwight were stars on this draft class to have won an NBA championship with the former having 4 with the Warriors and the latter with the 2020 Lakers and in doing so by facing each which makes it even better.
Man my age is starting to show. I remember that Draft like it was yesterday's. Actually that Chicago draft class made me a Bulls fan. And I couldn't stand the Bulls of the 1990s.
Iguodala was a beast back then. Explosive player, very fun to watch. He was often regarded as a poor man's version of LeBron James. Of course injuries happened and he was never the same.
I'll never forget this class. It was the first class that I had spent the whole year reviewing scouting reports because my team had such a disappointing year (Sixers)
Can you do a video about Dwight. How was good was he in Orlando, how did he start decreasing, and reviving his career in LAL
4 года назад
How was Dwight revived in LA? They signed on a day-to-day basis contract, meaning the Lakers had the right to cut him at any moment, for minimal money. Dwight needs something like that to keep him going or else he goes back to clown-mode.
Biedrins was solid especially during the “we believe” . Damn...talk about the talents in between...Kevin Martin over the who’s?? Atleast Telfair was ok, Al was borderline all star, Jameer, Delon Wright, and Allen
Ben Gordon was an absolute baller before his Mental Health issues killed his career. He actually wrote a book about it. Ben Gordon would have been a top 150 scorer all time imo.
