Some autobody shops in China successfully transformed the W221 S class into a W223 Maybach. They also converted a Gallardo to a Huracan STO and the current project is transforming a 458 into F8 Tributo. Ppl should never underestimate their skills and creativity😂
As a german i can say that it does not look legit to me. 😅 The interieur, the material, the cheap plastic, the speakers look like drawn, even the colour of the exterieur, the gap dimensions, the size of the wheel in ratio to the wheel case, nothing really fits. Even those emblems on the back of the seats are not shiny, perhaps even made from plastic. The bottle compartment would have wood inside with LED lights when open it.
China puts so much effort and money into imitation of something that already exists, they could have had flagship cars that are sold around the world by now
Well its not financially beneficial to them cause we'd want their plants to be put here (thus killing off some of their worker base) and it would for-sure have high tax rates due to international alliances. They do have cars in certain markets in Europe though
they literally do, look up the hongqi. most countries except southeast asian countries and russia impose really bad import taxes to chinese car manufacturers so they just dont export them to america. the reason is because american govt knows china would take over americas car industry. they make maybach alternatives for the price of 40k. why would anyone in the us buy a 40k toyota civic when they could buy a hongqi for the same price
Damn I wanna know what happened, I started watching him during covid and never missed an episod but still can't remember what What did really happen? Please tell my guy
The maybach conversion is simple and subtle just like modifying an off road vehicles. We are converting 2010 ish G wagons into 2023 G63 or something like that. Acutally, you rarely see G500 here because most of them can be transformed into a G63 for 30 grand with even genuine parts. You save about 100K by upgrading your G500 that way.
Where in the world are you? Converting G500 to G63 sounds like an interesting project for $30,000 USD. I wonder what is needed, is there a conversion parts list out there somewhere?
In Mainland market price difference between GLS 450 and 600 is 1.25 mil CNY (179k USD). So the kit makes some sense for people trying to be baller on a budget.
Prices are diff. People Pay 120k for 4 cylinder e-classes. There videos on RU-vid explaining it. I’m Singapore it’s the same. A 4cyl model will cost triple what a v6-v8 model in the USA. Bears are actually a lot cheaper priced in the USA to everyone’s surprise. Even in Europe like Norway and Sweden the pay a lot. Because of taxes and other things! On the Benz Reddit page the worldwide people always voice there local prices. Wild a 4 cylinder 1.8L eclass costs more than the amg usa version.
I knew Chinese craftsmanship was probably high within China, but this is insane and makes me jealous. How much is it in comparison? Always love when you go to China, and other countries Gordon. Keep it up. ❤
The exterior kit (not including wheels)is only few grand depending on where you buy(3-5k usd usually) and 25 to 30k for interior conversion. Usually they just buy oem electronics and swap them in, Mercedes aftermarket upgrade is a very mature market here, lots of places can do oem upgrades, not just maybachs
You’re only able to get 3 interior colors for the Maybach GLS600 so I would know that this isn’t factory. However it looks like the company did a good job, and the quality looks to be just as good as factory.
shanghai used to be different i was living there in 2011-14 and would see supers quite frequently with a sprinkle of hypers. Some of the apartment complexes near the financial area you were at a few vids before (river front chillis) have some hidden gems in the parking lots but hard to sneak your way in lol
It's still that way now. Effspot just didn't go at the right time or place to spot them. When I was there the past summer I did a lot of casual spotting and still saw a lot of exotic cars.
I literally drove an actual Maybach GLS 600 at my job on Friday and I can definitely say that retrofit kit is crazy accurate. Visually, I can't tell the difference but does it have "Recovery Mode"?
The seat shapes are wrong, the color on them too. Missing several lights inside the cabin. No V8, I can recognize an M177 from a mile away. And they are other details, but it is like making a fake Rolex, you don't want to share too many details of the real one.
Back around 2010 the Aston Martin 177 has a public shown msrp of 5.3 Million USD(some shown 6.5M)in China, But as most aston martin limited model goes internet source just isn't very reliable. had a chance to talk to Aston's Shanghai dealer's higher up back then and he told me the V12 Zagato (they sold one back then)has a public facing MSRP of 420K USD but in reality it was something near 2 million USD. in the case of the 177 it might not be 5.3M usd high but we never got into any detail. Edit: A more recent comparion on tax and whatever is that a ferrari F8 msrp starts at 420000 usd in China. the bigger the engine, the higher the tax is(there's more than just tax, but that's one of the major mark ups)
I haven’t watched the video clip (yet.). But, I do recall seeing such a car in a video from the mainland. It was ‘Gorgeous’. (Almost ‘Edible’.). Always worthy of a ‘👍’.
The Maybach kit can be ordered as an option @ any Mercedes dealership when buying your car, costs a couple more extra dollars, but this is very common everywhere all over the world, it's not fake. The AMG kit, Maybach kit, Brabus kit, BMW ALPINA Kits can be bought and fitted as a custom fit or BESPOKE Fittings according to the client's specs. It's not a surprise nor shocking at all.
This one is fake. The seat shape, and color is wrong. All the parts are made in China, and the coding on the electronics is as well. Just go to EE Bay. Plenty of kits there.
This is the first video I see on your channel I left the car aside end of this video I thought just some random American dude walking around China and take videos when I see your face end of this video I was like “what the actual fuck just happening here” I literally questioning the reality 😂 your accent is so freaking fluent good for you man keep it up
After WWII both China and the old USSR became well versed in reverse engineering, especially when it came to aircraft of the '50's (see copies of the old DC 3 and B-29). They've had a lot of practice and I'm sure it continues in a myriad of categories.......
@@IIXxSLAYERxXIIWhat are you guys talking about? Did you find out that China is ahead of the West in many high-tech industries? Why don't you look at who's number one in terms of papers and patents?
This is horrible that companies are doing this. People spend generations to build products and designs. Too many people now think it is OK to steal ones designs, content etc. etc. etc....Originality and uniqueness is lost in society claiming they want to be special and unique.
The first thing I wouldve done with the gls is open up the hood and look at the engine because I love engines, then I would be in for a severe disappointment
Seeing this on youtube and ppl reacting to it is pretty funny. These fake cars are literally everywhere in China, ppl really like to buy base model and then transfer it to top spec model. It is almost a kind of "culture" here. Less money but more flex lol
The designs can be similar to a brand or brands, yet there are newer and brand new features applied for the brand(s) being narrated and endorsed. ****THIS IS NON AI Standards of excellence in communication, businesses identification, authentically authenticated, registrations.*****IMPORTANT****
Why do people leave all these Exotics just sitting in these garages in China the only thing I can think of is that they have another house in a different part of the world where they're staying and they just leave those cars there I just couldn't imagine doing that
