Well most people don't need a full size truck Even me as a mobile mechanic and hauling at the farm don't really need a full size pick up the size of my Colorado is about the size of my 2002 Silverado 1500 these pick up trucks really have gotten way to big and expensive
@@jtomtl Correct. Wages have only gone up about $7,250 of those $10k. @@mattbrew11 in 2019 I was looking at the Ram Rebels and they were selling as cheap as 42k brand new around me. That's 20k cheaper than a new one now and that was only 5 years ago.
Stellantis laid off 400 workers, 200 which are UAW workers that build the Ram. 1st quarter sales are down 15% for Ram. 70k plus trucks are not the answer right now!
inflation is a bitch, isn't it? Also, the UAW did this to themselves by wanting outlandishly higher wages and less hours. Modern unions have done absolutely nothing good for their members; not a single one.

@@nycmaverick Agreed. Everyone whines about UAW workers or inflation but that's crap. The truck prices have risen well above the inflation rate. It's just greed.
So if they didn’t come out with this, then the Rebel X would be considered the TRX replacement? Not sure it makes sense to say the top model in the lineup is always the replacement for a previous top model. Especially when Ram kinda alluded to an actual replacement at some point.
The implication here is that the TRX moniker will return but as a higher hp version, presumably even more power than a raptor R because knowledgeable engine builders have said this inline 6 has the capability to reliably run 1000hp
@@freedomisntfree_44 Coyote also has major issues. Do your research. Stellantis is a disaster and Jeep and Ram will probably cease to exist by 2030 because of their products are too high priced and stupid decisions by Ram and Jeep on models. Why cant I get a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 3.6l V6 and not the POS 4XE? Hemi also had issues and was very long in the tooth.
Blame unions. When your workers keep asking for more, and more, and more, you have to keep raising your prices higher, and higher, and higher to turn a profit. I also blame American consumers. They claim they don't want to pay luxury car prices, but if you got rid of those features, they'd bitch endlessly.
The hurricane has direct injection only. Didn’t they learn from Fords mistake with the gen-1 ecoboost? Ford had to add TPI to keep the intake valves clean and prevent needing a valve job at 50K miles. The Hurricane appears headedfor the same issue!
Another 75k+ pickup truck lineup. It's insane. They should rename this segment for these. People buying these will kill the affordable full size utility pickup trucks. These monsters with their tiny shopping cart (or man's purse as a lot of people says) in the back have nothing related to pickup, except the name. Look the "mid-size" pickups segment right now, no more 7ft beds, very limited models with 6ft beds, most commonly 5ft beds and less, all of them have 4 doors, and they all are the size of full size pickups 20 years ago, and they cost 50-60k+.
Word man, and 20 years ago Im sure those half tons are smaller than the modern mid size, I own a 2017 silverado and parked it next to a new canyon denali, man those are as tall and big as mine, but with a 4 banger hahhahaha
Yessir! The prices on new half ton trucks are ridiculous(let alone heavy duty trucks). I paid $68k for a new 18' Ram 2500 Laramie w/ a Cummins out the door, pretty well optioned out, 8ft bed w/ fifth wheel hitch, etc. It's a work truck, and it gets worked HARD. Even $68k is a lot for that truck, BUT it does clean up nicely. I can toss a camper in the bed and take the family on a camping trip, and it's an enjoyable ride every time. I wouldn't pay $70k for any of these new half ton RAMs, I don't care about the off-road chops. That's a lot of money for a truck that's not very good at doing regular "truck" things. How many people are actually paying $70k+ for a new truck just to rip it off road Baja-style? The truth is 80% of these or more will NEVER leave the pavement, the furthest off-road these go are into a shopping center parking lot. 😆Can you even get a long box with the crew cab on a half ton RAM? Anyways- how come automakers are so tone deaf as to why sales are in perpetual decline?? COST is the #1 reason preventing sales in most cases. Quality issues are a close 2nd for many, and now banks not lending on Stellantis vehicles unless they're financing 85% or less of MSRP, simply because banks don't believe CDJR vehicles are actually worth the price listed on the sticker- are reason #3. These reasons are all compounding into one major issue that needs to be addressed before the damage becomes irreversible for Stellantis. No they won't fail overnight, but if this trajectory continues, bankruptcy WILL rear its ugly head. That's a certainty if steps to change course aren't taken in the short term.
I'll never get the weird, projected shitnaming folk like to put on this stuff, but yes! Extend the bad, shrink the cab! Ultimately this being a baja truck idk. Looking at real baja stuff, those cabs/constructs seem a bit longer than I'd expect for its use, but I digress. Not all of us want nor need troop transport capabilities. Just gimme that "quad cab" so I can put the stuff that isn't best in the bed (you know, where you can put someone if you had to, but it ain't gonna be comfortable)
I much rather the warlock with the smaller screen and physical buttons, I just don't get the 72 inch flat screen TVs these manufacturers are putting in everything

28k bought me a maverick hybrid getting 50 mpg and that does all the truck things I need to do. The mavericks have also been some of the highest rated trucks on reliability, and lowest cost of ownership studies, and highest owner satisfaction scores. All of that is to say rethink your priorities. Unless you need to tow heavy things, which most truck owners don't, a maverick is all the truck you need. Don't buy more truck than you need, there's no point.
Comparing diesels to an offroad truck 😂. Btw the old 7.3 makes around 240 hp. A family member just retired after working on the hurricane 6 cylinder for three years and apparently they had issues with sand stuck in the casting and the motors continuously blowing up. He said that motor will bring the brand down for good as they never got it to actually be reliable and management forced it into production even though it will not pass a single durability test that was done on the V8's. He said they land up with a cracked block around cylinder 3 and Stalantis solution was to removed the test all together and changed the software to shut down the boost to try and prevent the blocks from cracking and that they still pulled the test motors and found fractured castings that would fail in the future. Since he designed the Hemi and has awards for doing so, I believe he knows what he's talking about when he says stay away from anything with a hurricane 6 cylinder I believe him.
@@reddzrzrrider1086 He also said they redesign the cylinder sleeves to be slightly higher than the block surface with a redesign thicker steel head gasket just to prevent coolant from entering the combustion chambers and that will prolong its life hopefully so the issue makes it outside the warranty period before it becomes a noticable failure point. He said the cylinder wall thickness vs the block thickness being so thin allows it to over expand and cause fractures and they need larger spacing between cylinders and a much thicker block but due to size requirements for multi-vehicle packaging they refused to redesign the truck block differently than a soccer moms SUV. The solution is to buy a 2500 if you want to use it for anything other than a mall crawler.
@@mattbrew11The Ford F150 had many issues with the first iteration of the twine turbo V6 so I guess it's perfectly acceptable at this point to tell you to just step up to a 2500 if you want a reliable motor but in Fords case that's also not true.
Huge missed opportunity. They should have offered an NA v8 or single turbo v8. Why would I choose a new Dodge 6 cylinder over the tried and true 3.5 HO?
I've driven trucks every day for the past 25 years, and their 0-60 and 1/4 miles times were never a factor in my buying decision. Of course I actually use a truck as a truck, unlike most buyers today.
@@Mike-In-O-Town I get your point. But in a TRX/Raptor/RHO type truck those things matter more to the average buyer. And in the case of the hurricane specifically, it directly translates to truck duty. That power comes in early and at a low rpm and is linear all the way to the higher rpms. This makes towing and truck grunt far more usable and calm versus the previous hemi. The old school side of me admires a stock half ton able to break (or nearly break) into the 12 second range as well.
@@coachvonyo One, "average' truck buyers are not going after TRX's, Raptors, and RHO's given their ridiculous pricing. Two, I tow throughout the year, and towing would be the very last reason I'd consider the RHO and its blown six banger. @@Mike-In-O-Town if you read my initial comment, it was in reference to the HO in the standard 1500. It's going to be very quick, and a great tower to boot looking at the numbers. Sorry if you don't see that. It's all good, we don't have to agree.
You all tend to forget GM and Ford can do that because there companies have numerous models to lower their cafe number for the epa. Ram is its own brand and there aren’t many hybrids and evs floating around dodge jeep and Chrysler
These new regulations, and Dodge not exactly having funds to make enough baby engines to offset thing under FCA, aren't exactly secrets..... Hell, the others, Ford especially, blasting how THAT is exactly why they can keep a V8 around isn't exactly a secret (and those days for them are arguably numbered as a few places have declared outright banning ICE) What ever happened to "fans/enthusiasts" actually knowing what is going on with what they're crazy about? 🙄 The literal only hope any of us have is hoping that since EV's aren't selling it'll force these dinosaurs to backpedal these dumb regulations.
I kinda agree. But a trx (essentially) with two less cylinders and a little less power but with better fuel mileage doesn't sound bad. For most people, 540 hp makes more sense than 702 hp.
I dont understand how vehicles keep selling for these prices.... I make a great salary and i cannot possibly justify these prices even if i was paying cash.... people taking out 8-9 year loans for cars, please stop! Its not okay guys.
Any vehicle currently priced over 65k automatically puts only 8% potential buyers living in the US. Thats amazing marketing sense only 8% of people living in US are potential buyers. You ask why because banks now are verifying income before purchasing vehicles so good luck Dodge and everyone else.
These trucks are nice, but for us guys under 6'5", its really hard to reach into the bed over the side. Running baja is nice, but what about when I'm hauling stuff from the lumber yard? Loading and unloading these beds at this height is getting really impractical.
I am glad they are not calling this a TRX and they are reserving that for the Hellcat motor and maybe another V8 edition down the road once they realize that V8 interest will never go away. Im happy to have a TRX and will not part with it for a long time.
TRX is 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It’s been tested numerous times by numerous different magazines, RU-vidrs, etc. Just saying out loud a 540 hp vehicle is going to only be .1 sec slower than its 702 hp counterpart without putting any thought into the statement is kinda dumb.
It looks to me like the same situation with Ford a few years back. Ford had a Raptor with a V6 engine and Ram had a TRX with a V8 engine. The TRX sold a lot more. Now the situation is exactly the opposite Ford has put the V8 engine back in the Raptor and Ram has dropped the V8 and is using a V6. The paradox...
I had 2 3.5 twin turbo f150s 19/21 they tow like no ones bussiness and I'm a v8 guy all the way normally but I must say they were awesome fast and reliable, so what they were not as good an exhaust note ..I don't buy shit for exhaust notes ...

Ram headquarters stopped taking orders on this truck already. I just tried to order from the dealer and the option was no longer there for them. They called Headquartes for Ram and said they stopped taking orders and didn't give a date on when they will start again.
It needs to have more hp than a raptor, the weight of the RHO is in the 6200-6500lb range. That was the thing I didn’t like about my TRX, tons of power, but it was so heavy and you could really feel that in the sand.
I would love to see a drag race, both on and off road. Between the new Ram RHO, and the Raptor ARRR! At this point, because of stupid pricing. I can only afford to watch other people drive these trucks! Lol.
Tuning a brand new truck is goofy. Voids warranty and barely makes them faster considering how much tuners cost. Thousands of dollars plus no warranty to make your truck half a second quicker.
@@arthurwright255don't think u wanna say that to all the people that do this the moment they get hellcats and trx's the moment they get them. Or at best, even bmw suvs with the I6s get tuned the moment some get them.
Despite the neutering of the TRX, this is a good move by RAM. Lots of people have been asking for this. I own a TRX and it’s the best, most comfortable, truck I’ve ever owned. I would gladly own an RHO, which is literally a TRX with less HP, but you still get the suspension, looks, comfort. Maybe a bit better mpg too??? Puts it as a better daily driver for some. I’m not selling my TRX for this one, but I think it’s gonna be a great truck.
Looks like they kept the Dana 60 rear differential that was in the TRX. That is a good thing. Usually a manufacturer will scale back the driveline strength when installing a smaller engine.
When you see a Tacoma now pushing $65,000, spending $70,000 for a Rebel seems to be a no brainer. Good luck Toyota selling those TRD PRO’s…..But, will people come running for those Inline 6’s. Definitely not…..GM and Ford can capitalize on this.

Andre, looks like the Rebel & RHO great responses to Ford & GM's offerings. I'm not familiar with the Rams, so I found the redundant analog controls a wonderful solution to a problem that never was needed. The only thing that would make them better would be to move both columns to the driver side, oh, and put the flat screen TV in the back seat where it belongs. Those huge multiple touch to perform simple functions screens are all about eyes not on the road.
@@Kainis80don't forget the EPA and the NHTSA in that equation. Increase the cost and weight with anti-smog and driving nanny devices that contribute nothing to the function of a truck, then say they have to run cleaner, safer and burn less/no fuel.

3.0 Litres….NOPE… absolutely any mechanical engineer can tell you that a tiny straight six (think bmw 3 series) will have to run 1.5 to 2.0 BAR just to keep up with an aggressively tuned NA V-8. That level of internal stress, temperature, and fatigue on the bottom end (much less then damn head and valve train), will dramatically limit the life and reliability of this engine. Let’s see the 3.0TT after 100K miles of hard driving.
The reason trucks are crazy expensive is not because people can’t afford them it’s because lots of people have access to a ton of cash and can’t afford them. For now.

The RHO looks nice, but more like a 3/4 ton. $8k cheaper is certainly a good thing. As for suggesting it is even a competitor to the Raptor--let's see how it actually performs. Ultimately even the TRX wasn't as capable an off-roader so the RHO vs Raptor comparison probably isn't even apples to apples.
