Hey, Cliff's Garage!!! Great video!!! I cleaned the plastic with Windex first and the finish is fantastic!!! Took about 15 mins each lamp. You seemed to work pretty hard at it. I scrubbed for about 8 minutes and let the fog dry completely. Rubbed that off and applied final coats. turned out very clear. Did I mention I had heavy stains? Thanks for doing the hard part!!
Meguiar's has the heavy duty restore kit which I have personally used 3 weeks ago on a 8 year old Civic. They provide the sand paper, Plastx and things needed to get the job done easily. The final coat is supposed to last for 1 year. I think I would use the kit you used for the following years just for that clear coat spray. I would buff it with the drill buffer attachment with Plastx and then spray coat it for the UV protection. I think the Meguiar's products are pretty good from what I've seen so far...
Are you sure this product was to be used on glass headlight assemblies? From what I have seen everyone has done this on plastic. How has it been holding up?
No, this product isn't meant for glass. But these headlights are poly carbonate plastic. As far as I know, there haven't been actual glass lens assemblies produced in decades. As for holding it, it hasn't. Followup video coming soon.
I'm no expert but I'm sure Meguiars only make Clear coat with UV protection for plastic(polycarbonate lenses) It would be waste of time and money on useing this kit on Glass headlights, When all that was needed is a decent glass cleaner 🤣The reason for most vehicles headlights are made of plastic is because of all car manufacturers use different shapes and sizes, Moreover plastic is cheaper and easy to produce, And not forgetting health and safety!! 🤔🇬🇧👌
U have got to sand with sand paper then use the solution to buff the headlight using a drill and mop attachment wet sand by the way and it will come out crystal clear
Meguires theory behind N0T actually sanding is that the lense comes with a protective UV clear sealant coating from the factory. Once you "sand" through that protective coating restoring the lense "restoration" becomes questionable. Read the product instructions carefully and follow them explicitly !
Amazing isn’t it, cleaning products, etc. come with a screw caps and a seal and ice cream is sold in stores basically wide open for assholes to lick and god knows what else.
What is the headlight lens made of? Glass? If so just a soapy wash down only!! If polycarbonate(plastic) they look heavy duty with extra reinforcements built-in to the lens, Which is why the Finnish result is disappointing!!!!
