Thx man it was really helpful I have 97 Ford F-150 stepside I’m working on and I wanted to see what would work for restoring the headlights. Again thx and good luck on the Chanel
Liam Welsh it’s a specific type of clear coat used for plastic. Regular clear coat isn’t made for the plastic lenses on newer cars and it ends up cracking and fading even faster.
Isauro Bañuelos Nah it’s like a regular clear coat but formulated for use on plastics. Not as durable but durable enough to withstand the elements as used by car manufacturers.
As a rule of thumb always ware a respirator with a pink filter such as 3M!!! Regardless if spraying indoors or outside, There are health warnings written on the can!!?😮 Anyways a great job sir, 🤔😚
@@shaibalchowdhury5270 I have a 18 year old car and the headlights were so badly frosted they were yellow. I did one application and they almost look brand new. I would highly recommend this product
My headlights are so bad that's it's getting dangerous to drive at night. I can barely see the lines and when it's snowing/raining, I can't see them at all. I'm waiting on the heavy duty kit in the mail and can't wait to see what the results are. Seeing you got the 2 step one and it did that good of job, I hope mine turn out looking brand new.
I just used this product today on my wife's car. The headlights were terrible and totally clouded over. I could have done a bit better of a job, but the difference is massive. You can actually see the bulbs now LOL. Three light applications of clear coat should do the trick for a few months at least, hopefully more. It took about 40 minutes, including cleaning before I started.
I wish I could post my results here to show a before and after image. My headlights came great. I too thought I needed the severe kit but evidently it worked great. The real test will be to see if it last up to a year like it says. Only time will tell. Thank you again.
my respect and gratitude man. just do not use brake cleaner again for that particular application. it is a solvent on plastic. good you did not leave it on for a longer span.
Wow!!I,ve been thinking u can't restore lights without technical tools. But with this video u shared & yr proper explaination u made it so simple.May God bless u 🙏🙏
Thank you Chris! Great job bro! First time I check your videos! Well done about the explications and nice editing! I was a filmaker and love the content! I am going to subscribe! Tumbs up! Keep it up! 💪🏼
First thing I thought of....all that overspray! My god! Tape it up,put paper all around it. I bet you spent hours with rubbing compound getting it all of your truck. This stuff is great to use!! But you need to use common sense.
Really? Common sense now includes knowing how to use and the affects of sealant on car paint? Even the direction say mask tape around the area. not newspaper your car. So I guess Meguiar's doesn't have commons sense either.
@@cheesehead6710 And what would YOU cover your cars front end with, to prevent overspray with this stuff?? Go buy a huge roll of butchers brown paper and spend a fortune on that! Or buy 1 newspaper, to tape/cover the front of the car to not get this shit on the paint. Or is there some other kind of PAPER to cover the front of the car that i dont know of?? Please tell me what other paper there is to use?? Now....what would YOU use to cover the front of your car?? Hmmm......?
I just bought this kit on Amazon and used it on three of my vehicles a 1997 Chrysler Sebring a 2005 Acura MDX and a 2015 Nissan Ultima one kit did all three vehicles for $20 to me that’s a great deal it would’ve cost me thousands of dollars to get headlights replaced on all three vehicles What I did before I used it was wipe them down with 100% acetone and microfiber rag never using the same section twice my headlights look brand new now the acetone wipe really removes all the oxidation but you cannot use the same area twice that is the most important thing to remember
I have watch a few of these headlight restoration videos and in each one with a sealant being used noticed the first coat is when the headlights look the best. When the second coat is applied I see noticeable blurring on some sections of the headlights. I also noticed in some videos alcohol is used after sanding and glass cleaner after polishing. If anyone has a thought on the correct way to polish and apply clear coat please let me know. Thanks.
If you decide to polish the headlights after sanding or this cleaning solution you want to remove any polishing oils with alcohol. 50-50 is good enough to break down the oils. If you leave it on the surface and try to spray over it, it won’t stick as well.
I agree that the first coat is when the headlight looks the best. I did the second one coating and is a little blurring. I will do it again to only apply one coating.
@@yarieltarano280 it states on can you spray it twice, Myself and many more spray once only!! I find the best way after prepping, Is test spray first, Then spray from top to bottom in one continuous spray overlapping by 50% 😉👍
So when you applied the second step couldn't help but notice the mist from the can was getting all over your car. Did that have any effect or was it too light and just washed off next car wash?
@Smarter Than You that's a different Meguiars headlight restoring kit that has two sanding discs with it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HZg3waj1Ga4.html
Let me say one Thing...... without cover other parts with proper paper. You hood and front bumper will be effect by that Coating Spray......I've to spend some time to get it out from my camry bumper
Just did my lights. So the compound never achieved a uniform look. Looked the same for 15 minutes when I finally gave up. By the time I got to removing it it was a fully dry powder. He did not wait very long as you can see by his tape. Mine was covered in white powder. So I did it a second time and only let it sit about 3 minutes. Beautiful results. Like new. Very happy after the initial disappointment.
@@meregaming1770 I was waiting for it to get achieve that uniform frosted appearance he spoke of. Mine never did and since its a compound it became more powdery than his did due to me letting it sit there drying as I waited. Second time I just waited a few min and worked perfectly. As I said in my post I waited 15 min waiting for it to become uniform. So "by the time I got to removing it" I was boned. hah
TycoTyrannus thanks for the tip! I probably would’ve made the same mistake for the frost to occur. Now I know to wait just a few minutes like you said.
