Mehdi Hasan And Taibbi CLASH Over Twitter Files, Hunter Biden, and Elon Musk

Matt Taibbi clashed with MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan over Taibbi's reporting on the Twitter Files, Hunter Biden, and Elon Musk.
Hasan asked Taibbi why he didn't mention that what the Biden administration was attempting to have stricken from Twitter were nude photos of Hunter Biden that violated their terms of service. Taibbi responded by saying that he didn't think it was relevant to the story.
Hasan then asked Taibbi about his reporting on Stanford University's Election Integrity Project. Taibbi admitted he made errors in his reporting here.
After the interview, Taibbi posted on Twitter saying that he won't "...take the L" regarding his appearance on Hasan's show.

Taibbi was doing the interview from what appears to be his home, or his personal workspace. I don't think he has any excuse to run anywhere. But he did try to pull off a momentary "technical difficulty" act sometime during the interview. The fact that most of Emma’s audience actually thinks she is right here is so extremely embarrassing. Hasan and Emma’s argument in a nut shell: “Actual government agencies made hundreds of requests that Twitter take down thousands of tweets from hundreds of accounts over the course of years, and paid Twitter millions of dollars for its time and effort in complying with those requests - but none of that matters or is important, and Matt is actually a big dummy, because a three or four of his tweets (out of many dozens) contained minor inaccuracies or lacked certain context!” Lol Emma and Hasan are sellouts who hate anyone to their political right so much that they stopped caring about the 1st Amendment. They ridiculed Matt for failing to clarify that a few of the requests from the Biden team were actually just asking to take down Hunter’s nude pics… okay, but those requests from Biden’s team represent a tiny tiny fraction of the kinds of requests Matt revealed in his reporting. Yes, Biden’s team wasn’t the gov at the time, but what about the hundreds of other take-down requests that Twitter received - and often complied with - from the FBI and DHS and a bunch of other government agencies? Do Emma and Hasan just not care about those?

All of his criticisms of MSNBC that I've heard are from 5+ years ago. MSNBC has done a good job, and he's done a terrible job, covering covid-19, the 2020 election, Jan 6, build back better, the Ukraine war, and this. Most journalists refuse to acknowledge their mistakes. And have you ever made a single mistake at your job, or are you absolutely perfect in every way? If you have made a mistake or two, do I get to say that you are an example of “pure incompetence”? The next day, Taibbi announced he was leaving Twitter within days, saying he had learned Twitter was not allowing links to a new feature, Notes, from his Substack blog that Twitter evidently considered a potential competitor. Elon Musk unfollowed Taibbi later that day.

Thank you for going into more detail on some of the information behind what was said in Taibbi's interview. I wasn't aware of them at all and I suspect most aren't either. So, I'm sure Taibbi's readers would have been impressed because it looked like believeable, respectable, well-researched reporting which turns out to be far from the case. I mean, I was always suspicious about the Twitter files because of just the basic logic that the Biden campaign was not the government at the time and were requesting something that was against Twitter's own terms of service. I was never even aware of Taibbi's other claims in his Twitter files simply because I didn't trust it enough to think it would be worth reading at all. So it's good that you're going into more detail, because I didn't get the full story on just how dishonest Taibbi was being just from Mehdi's interview alone.

Matt pretty much fu*ked himself now by cutting ties w Elon bc it's looks as though Matt was always after the money. As soon as elon took away Matt's ability to link his twitter articles to his Substack, Matt bailed on elon.

The ruling class has unobstructed access, wow shocker. Dave Grohl once left his credit card at the bar where I work. We called the 800 number on the back to report it lost and it went straight to a woman in a office. Imagine being so rich that your credit card company has a person just sitting at a desk waiting for you to call in the event of a lost card
