RideMyTruck You don't think that comment in times of Brexit, Trump regency and sociopolitical movements all over the place came with a wink? 😉 Also, the whole "mighty nice" gesture of a British Film Academy honoring an American film icon with their greatest award made Brooks represent the old British-American rivalry - cliché ...in the end built up on respect and common values....a little bit. At least that's what he ironically implies, isn't it?!

Love Mel! What an honor for him. So many great films and so many happy memories watching them. I got to see the stage production of Young Frankenstein, which was as good as the movie. I laughed til I couldn't breathe. So happy to see this.

Mel Brooks type of comedy has NO place in todays society..... It's actually funny, witty and doesn't rely on the the three jokes that are present in modern comedy movies "Sex jokes, Drug jokes and 'shocking' jokes". :( Hope he lives till he's 1000.
