So refreshing to see a mother arrive at the scene and NOT cause a scene herself. Mama was just, "I'm so done with her shit." I respect that - my kid kept shoplifting until a Police Officer who was called to the store called me and said, "With your permission, I'd like to arrest him and put him through the booking process and have a Detective interview him, just to put a big scare into him." I wholeheartedly approved of the Officer's idea and thank him for scaring my kid straight. Sometimes kids need that.
Idk man, being forced to bend over and show your A-hole to a cop will scare any kid straight that's for sure, but is that really the 'right' way to go about it? Maybe the kids get an exception but I wouldn't be so sure, obviously hopefully so because otherwise it's legalized pedophilia...
Your kid "kept" shoplifting and some cop had to be his parent? Ffs parents just aren't patents anymore. Then they wonder why their kids never move out on their own. I loathe the child worship generation.
@@bradsanders407if you knew anything about kids, especially teenagers, you'd know they don't listen to their parents and they do need to be scared straight sometimes. Wtf is the child worship generation, some boomer conspiracy? 😂
Sometimes that’s just necessary. I had runs in here and there in my teens for smoking weed and stuff but and got caught shoplifting the day before my 18th birthday. My mother told them to take me to jail and book me and all that. They let me go and told me if I’d been 18 it would’ve been a different story. I’ve been on the straight and narrow ever since. I’m now 23 in one of the best engineering schools in the country studying rocket science. Sometimes it just takes scaring the shit out of someone to get them to wake up to the reality of consequences before they do something truly permanent and potentially wreck their entire future.

Yeah her mum seems like a very calm down to earth lady who's probably tired of her daughter's bad behaviour. She probably just had enough and thought well if you won't learn the easy way you'll have to learn the hard way. People always blame the parents but sometimes even the best parents end up with little monsters. And sometimes young people really need a tough firm wake-up call to pull them into place. One of my best friends and his two brothers are very hardworking honest people while the sister is worse than what this young female ( I refuse to say woman and definitely not a Lady)showed herself to be. My mate has terrific parents who raised their kids with love but also manners , integrity and discipline. Her mum seems like she's just reached a tipping point. My mother would have probably done the same
@@matthewcullen1298 She has to be because she was struggling with her then and that was several years ago. I could totally relate with her because I had my own challenging times with my daughter when she was a teen. We got through it thankfully with both of us still here🤗
just a small detail that made this whole video even better - the fact kio wouldn’t identify herself to police and her mom pulled up in a shirt with her name on it😭
The look of absolute disgust on her mother's face is exactly how my mother would look at me if she found me drunk driving and behaving like a lunatic!! Shame, I actually feel really bad for her...
The stony look on her mom's face really hit me. It felt like that was her shutting down to avoid blowing up. What a heartbreaking moment, the last thing any parent wants to see, and it looks like she's been through this routine before. Giving her a "wake-up call" at 19 years old is pretty damn fair in my opinion; I dislike when parents do that to younger teenagers but *come on*, at 19 you should know a LOT better than to do any of this lunacy. Thank you for the continuing and consistently high quality uploads! Always glad to see it!
@@ericanotnice I'm not a parent but from what I've seen, there are times when the best thing a parent can do is let their child face the consequences they've put themselves in. Walking that fine line seems to be very tough but obviously this fell pretty hard on that side. I hope her daughter gets the help she needs and I hope her family is still around to support her when she does.
I saw a comment on here that said, the mother is the problem, and she created a monster. You can clearly see that the mom is sensible. My brother and I grew up in the same household, with the same privileges, the exact same discipline. I worked hard finish college got a great job make great money, and my brother decided to hit the streets and be a rebel. Please don’t forget That some people are just bad seeds even with decent parents and a great upbringing, The mom’s reaction tells me clearly that she’s a good mom and has done her absolute best. And how she’s reacting to her daughter is exactly what my parents did to my brother who no matter what privileges he had, and opportunities they afforded him, he still chose to walk the unnecessary beaten path. There comes a time where parents have to wash their hands of bad behavior, and that’s exactly what this mom is doing.
@@LueGranteBaker-fk7rd did I say she wasn’t drunk….? I know a spoiled brat when I see one. She continued to behave that way even after her mom arrived. I’ve been drunker than that before and I didn’t even want my mom to smell it I was ashamed. She’s spoiled and think she can do whatever she want.
You said the issue in your own comment y’all were raised exactly the same and discliplined the same. Y’all were not the same person. Children are not one size fits all and different personalities require different tactics. Congratulations for you the way your parents parented resonated for you but clearly not your brother so he got the hard road. Hopefully he gets his healing and turns things around.
Most moms would try to get their kid out of goin to jail, this mom did the right thing. Sometimes it's just best to let your kid face the consequences.
I just want to take a second and say how much i appreciate the ridiculously high quality content at a ridiculously high upload rate. You are amazing, EWU. Thank you guys for your hard work!
I just want to take a second to say how saddening it is that there are enough crimes/encounters with the police to have this much footage for EWU to have their crazy upload rate.
The fact that her mom asked them if they could take her, you can tell she has tried and is tired of this mess. This young woman really made an entire fool of herself. She clearly has a substance abuse problem and will never improve unless she finally accepts that she needs help
This is a good video to show people that it’s not always the parents “fault”. She’s an adult as well. Believe me it’s heartbreaking for a lot of parents to see this. Lots of helplessness
Haha the mom was cracking me up, standing there watching how her daughter was acting and then saying "yeah she gotta go"...i lost it! Thank you for helping me laugh and smile EWU!
@@gstephen8949 you damn right... She's a good mother. Most try and defend the shitty actions of their children, or just don't care about them. But this momma definitely cares about her children.
Props to that mom, though. Not making excuses or trying to justify her daughter's behavior. Sometimes tough love is necessary, ESPECIALLY when it comes to committing a crime like drunk driving.
Everybody write that mother is good and me opposite I think mother for sure IS NOT a good mother. The daughter is visibly neglected, not emotionally supported like we see here on video. Just looking and laughing. Probably she had like this all her childhood and her behaviour now is the effect of this.
@@PsychoLOSZKA1 Nah. Couple of things about that: Firstly, if she was a neglectful mother she wouldn't have even shown up to the scene. She would've just told the police over the phone "Just do whatever with her I don't care" and hung up when they'd have had to call her to come get the car, and that's if she would have even answered the call to begin with. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, her daughter is a legal adult in this footage, meaning there's really not much she can do about the situation in the first place. Arguing with police in situations where the arrest is clearly warranted helps no one, may end with her own arrest, and would just give her daughter the impression that her driving drunk isn't "that bad". Any caring, actually responsible parent will always choose to have their kids learn lessons through the consequences of their actions. Neglectful parents let their kids do whatever they want, whenever they want, and constantly justify the behavior because their kids being in trouble reflects poorly on their parenting and they know it. It very much seems like she's just tired of trying to teach the same lessons and at wits end. You can't just fix illegal behavior with hugs, kisses, and coddles, and she seems to know that. The only neglect I see is Kio's boyfriend wanting to get her out of serving jail time for drunk driving.
@@lichbunny3733 what You do now is gaslighting. I don’t feel Your arguments, for example “just do whatever with her I don’t care”- this is caring mother? Her daughter is highly neglected emotionally. Can we just appreciate for a moment a grown officer playing Rock Paper Scissors in order to decide who gets to deal with her? 😂 [8:38] Now that is hilarious! Seriously though, the look her mama gave her made my skin crawl. Same look my mom gave me when I messed up _BAD!_ 😨 She's lucky she's an adult, because I have a strong feeling her mom would have whooped her butt otherwise!
I’ve seen this chick commenting on other videos of her arrest, saying basically thank you for posting the most embarrassing moment of her life for the world to see. Didn’t hear much accountability from her comments…. Hopefully she feels different by now.
She’s only 19! That’s sad. She’s messing up the rest of her life over stupidity. She needs to get into AA. I feel for her mother having to deal with that nonsense. You can have the best parents in the world and if they fall into the wrong crowd, that’s all it takes.
Nah, that won't mess up her life. 18-19 are common ages to do dumb crap like this. Imagine she's 60, and she's telling this story to her grandchildren, lol. But yeah, she could've done better
With the pitiful sentences they give drunk drivers they just keep doing it till they kill some innocent ppl. And even then they rarely get more than a few years. A first time DUI offense with no injuries makes sense to give probation and courses. A second offense with no injuries should be mandatory 6 months jail and losing license for 2 years. If they get a third, 1 year jail and license revoked 5 years. If they hurt anyone else, mandatory jail time 5-25 yrs depending on the severity of injury. If they kill someone, mandatory 30-life. If ppl knew they’d face serious consequences for driving drunk, many of them wouldn’t do it.
Props to the officers in this video. Love the way they handle this. No unnecessary escalation, no needless panicking, treated Kio like a human being even after it started to become clear what was actually going on, conducted an ACTUAL investigation and lawfully arrested the woman all while responding sensibly to her drunken aggression. Top notch stuff.
Honestly, if a cop was being an ass to her right back, I wouldn't blame them. Do you even realize the mental toll that has to take on the officer to NOT respond like that? I fully believe in an eye for an eye so I would back up the officer giving it right back. But there's only so much a HUMAN MIND can take before breaking. Even if these are strangers to them, though they do recognize faces if they arrest one enough times, it's still hard to mentally hear how people want you and your family dead. People are too soft on criminals. They need to ACTUALLY be punished. Not just a slap on the wrist like most of the time.
Except they didn't even keep her in jail for a day after literally biting and kicking law enforcement/medical staff.... plus crashing her car while at least 6-9x over the legal limit.... which is absolutely mind blowing to me

These are some of the most absolutely amazing LEOs I have witnessed in a very very long time! Every single thing from the moment of first contact throughout her escalating behavior at the department was just great to watch them handle her with the utmost professionalism. Even during first contact when he was engaging with her outside the car and she started crying, the officer started asking her what’s going on in a quieter volume and telling her to speak with him by his patrol vehicle further away from her own car just in case there was some other issues at play, like potential domestic violence to give her the opportunity to share with him. What an amazing police department, these fine LEOs should absolutely be the template for the remainder of the Nations brothers in blue.
The penalty for people who drink and drive should be more severe. They get slaps on the wrists and second and third chances and it ends up costing innocent people's lives.
@@moimoi2994 Most people don't behave like the woman in the video. A LOT do, but most people comply and don't cause undue issues with responding officers. No different than having a shitty table as a server, part of the job, but you can still feel for the person having to deal with it.

God bless this mother for holding her child accountable for her actions. It's surprising how many parents these days side with their kids even when they are clearly in the wrong.
I'll never understand why people can't just be decent, especially when it's usually their own fault they are in that situation. The least they could do is just not bite them & wish death on their spouses. I hope Kio gets help & praying her mother finds peace.
As a mental health RN I recognized damn near IMMEDIATELY that this young lady is dealing with some sort of psychosis or untreated mental illness and being someone that had a mental breakdown herself after losing my fiancé to co vid almost 4 years ago without even ever realizing it’s happening and I AM A PSYCH nurse, this makes me feel absolutely AWFUL absolutely the complete lack of empathy or blaming it on “kids are all so ridiculously entitled these days” which no doubt that statement has a ton of validity but PLEASE YALL, we were all young and ignorant to certain things at one time. This does not necessarily seem like that’s what’s happening here. Or at least not the ONLY THING that’s happening here. You can tell she has a very humble, non-idealistic, no nonsense kind of mother. Yes all kids will revel in some way but this kind of behavior can be caused by sudden or long term s*x ual trauma, trying recreational drugs for the first (or second, or cumulant times etc). And unfortunately as a black woman I have been witness to the oftentimes true stereotype that has real life historical implications in the sense that culturally, a lot of us are correct in feeling “we” cannot trust the medical system. I work in the medical system, I’m 32 I have since I was 15…and there are REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES for medical biases. Lack of adequate psychiatric care is one of them and in this case it’s truly sad to see because this young lady is only projecting her internal feelings onto EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. she encounters. There’s a reason for that. I am a nurse and therefore diagnostics are far outside my scope of practice so I won’t even attempt to imbue anyone with useless “armchair diagnoses” but I will say that medical degrees aren’t required to extend sympathy to someone whose lowest moment has been broadcast to the world because we’ve all had them we just come to these comment sections and pretend we forget. Mental illness can be so daunting and soul shattering, it effects and can destroy whole families. It can completely break someones spirit and they’ll spend the rest of their lives in this earth incarnation roaming around homeless camps like zombies, a shell of a human that once had dreams, aspirations and hope and a reason to live just like you and me. Personally I feel being your own worst enemy and not even realizing you are is a fate worse than death. Please count your blessings, this could be any of us. I hope little sis gets the help, love and support she needs to get back to herself and back to the peace we all deserve to have. 🤍🙏🏽

The witness very likely saved her life, and who knows how many others. I only wish someone was around to stop my brother and his friends. The 21st anniversary is on the 12 of September, about a week from today. Three young lives, two of them with children, gone instantly. Jason was 24, and in the back seat. Mom and her just staring at the mess in that cop car... like where did I go wrong? I felt for her, and then she cracked me up when she said "Yea, that's gotta go."
4 months in prison is not even close to enough! My dad was a drunken idiot and even worse than her, and he never got anything for EXTREME drunk driving. I remember when this first happened and thinking how ignorant her boyfriend is to try and take her place. He knew how screwed up she was and how dangerous she was and still only cared about her, not all the people she could have killed or hurt. Thank goodness for the guy who pulled over and got her key from her. He helped save a lot of people! To her mom, thank you! I'm so happy she didn't baby her or act like the officers were the bad guys. She knew her daughter did it all to herself!
When she goes, she'll eventually hurt someone with her driving, and I hope it's the stupid judge who just gave her 4 months and not other innocent people.
@iagreewithyou3478 I agree. It is sickening to see how we, as the innocent ones, are forced to be out here, our lives in danger, all for not wanting to make their lives harder. I don't care how tough it is for them to pay their fines, to serve time, to pay rent, etc. We are all struggling, especially since covid, and the cost of everything has gone through the roof. And I hope her daughter realizes that too, someday in the future.
Very well said. Kids reach an age where they will make their own decisions good or bad and all a parent can do is hope they will do the right thing. I made some mistakes as a youth. It wasn't my parents fault. I'd been raised better but I still went ahead and did stupid things. My parents didn't interfere. They still loved me but I was now technically an adult but I behaved in an immature way. Many young people will push the boundaries. Doesn't mean lack of moral training on the parents part. The difference being I didn't mouth off at the police. Quite the opposite. I said as little as possible and was courteous and respectful. I was out that night and the next day in court I got a relatively small fine and learnt to keep my nose clean.
