Join me for a walk around the internationally-renowned home of the pork pie: Melton Mowbray! Also famed as a centre for stilton cheese production, and today home to riveting historical buildings from an enormous parish church to a house owned by both Thomas Cromwell and Anne of Cleves, and even the place where the phrase 'painting the town red' originated - there's so much to discover on a walk around Melton Mowbray!
On our walk around Melton Mowbray, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, the former Cornmarket Cross, High Street, the old George Hotel, Market Place, the former Buttermarket Cross, the site of the old Swan Inn, Church Street, the old Courthouse, St. Mary's Church, the Anne of Cleves, Burton Street, The Old Club, King Street, the old Manor House, The Cutting Room Pub, The Regal Cinema, The Generous Briton Pub, The Black Swan Pub, Melton Carnegie Museum and Tuxford & Tebbutt Creamery.

And welcome to this walk around Melton Mowbray, most famously the home of the Melton Mowbray pork pie! Also a centre of cheese production and full of other riveting history, this is a town full of surprises and stories to tell! I should also point out a slight error in the narration, which you'll find at 17:09 - I meant to say that Melton Mowbray pork pies are traditionally served cold, whereas others are actually designed to be eaten warm - including Yorkshire pork pies! Also, if you do know of the origin of the pub name, 'The Generous Briton', do let me know - I love learning the roots of pub names, and it's a rare one, with the other locations nearby in Loughborough, Costock (Notts) and Brant Broughton (Lincs).

Unfortunately your comment was not so well written. You FAILED to format text and failed to use paragraphs. What did you actually learn in that dog school your suffering mother sent you to - in the hope that you would actually learn and become educated. Instead you write a continuous line of text. Copy it and paste your text into a TEXT EDITOR and examine it. Learn to keep columns narrow -- No more than 73 Characters wide Pay attention to how text is formatted in News papers - Magazines and Books The reason columns are kept narrow is so that the readers eyes do not have to traverse and scan a L O N G WIDE column - which is tiring. which is why in Newspapers and magazines - text is formatted into narrow columns, You should have observed and learned that by now. But of course you were programmed to be a ZOMBIE -and Thus you have eyes but cannot see - ears and cannot hear Time to step out of the ZOMBIE zone. As always, an educational walk. While I knew a fair bit of the history of Stilton and pork pies, I had no idea Melton Mowbray was such a historic, well-preserved town. Also, I didn't know there was another Wymondham, pronounced differently to the one in Norfolk too. My knowledge of English royalty is pretty much non-exitant but, the more I hear about Henry VIII, the more of a halfwit he seems to have been. Doesn't seem like he was much of a "people-person".😂
