Me, first time in a card shop: buys one vallhala shadows pack: gets alister Someone: changes me it for the armored dragons Me: I also wanna that lair of darkess =D
I, a budget player, traded my common ash blossom which i had 3 of for common garbage cuz i was obly playing 2 back then, if that guy knew what he was doing i want to fuckign srangle him so badly
Some of these memes reminded me of when I feather dustered someone my turn 1 or turn 2 and he surrendered since I also had summon Blackwing Full Armor Master
I purchased cards in the first lockdown, as a bulk buys I hardly understood any of it 😂, been away since the Battle City arch of the show , wanted to show my son the game and TV show
"Stick with Pokemon". Funny, because Pokemon is in a T0 format where the best deck is ADPZ, Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX (Tag Team) + Zacian V. Stupidly consistent and getting buffed.
7:07 I'm usually that guy that buys one or two packs and gets the best card in the set... Except I'm not a new player and I usually know what it is I've pulled.
Hey Cimo! Have you seen Death Note? Completely unrelated to the video but I'm getting a Death Note playmat for playing YuGiOh and it looks super cool and I'm just super excited about it and wanted to share.
I had a friend who used to play, I asked him when was the last time he played, Synchro, XYZ, or even Pendulum era, and he said he had an xyz deck and I'm like "well most decks from 2012-15 were comprised primarily of xyz monsters, so what deck Specifically?" And he goes, "idk it said xyz" and I go, "were the cards black?" And he said "no, purple" And that's when I realized he was referring to his XYZ Dragon Cannon deck 😂😂😂
If i remember correctly, there was an episode of Spongebob where him & Patrick went to a shop to buy Trading Cards based on Merman and Barnacle Boy. SpongeBob bought all but one pack and got and got every pull except the rarest card which he didn't have. Patrick bought the last one and pulled five copies of said rarest card.
@@bonkchonkxb310 not to mention a reference to how most people who don’t have a single solitary IOTA of a clue about the games view incredibly rare and powerful cards...
I mean all formats have an up and down. Have you ever played against fiber jar? Destroy 2, summon 5, destroy 5, summon 3, destroy 3, summon 5, flip morphing jar. We could also talk about three reasoning and three monster gates. Not to mention priority. I'll never miss that BS.
its because the deck everyone was playing was Goat Control. I honestly don't miss old Yugioh, there were so few cards in the game that there was basically an optimal 40 that literally everyone (competitive) played, which is, in effect, a Tier Zero format(s). For fun times get into any GOAT format group and start a debate about Exarion Universe.
I felt bad doing this to people back in the day lol. I wouldnt to kids though unless they understood the game well enough to actually be good. If it was a new player id take it easy on them. I enjoy teaching people how to play this game. Always have.
That’s fierce I’m a magic player and I ruined a few locals I follow yugioh as I used to play until 2013 and I almost came back but monarch and the other main deck was tooo meta
That meme at 7: 19 is literally me (except I’m not a new player) where I have a friend who wanted to build a thunder dragon deck and got loads of packs to get them, barely gets anything and then theres me who somehow someway always pulls thunder dragon cards, its not just thunder dragons but every deck that friend of mine wanted to make, I always get the cards for it though I always give them to him anyway in exchange for covering my trade debts with my other friend so it works out in the end.
When the youngsters complain that current decks are broken, so I pull out my pre errata Chaos Emperor Dragon deck with Yata Garasu: *Knuckle Crack* Oh I’ll show you broken.
@@leoornstein3963 that's not gonna happen first and foremost aqua dolphin can't do anything without strong enough monster on the owner's side of the field. Second the opponent they are facing won't allow such a monster effect to go through easily.
@@Ahloveyafuhso you know, you only need to pay life point to look at op hand and rip 1 low attack monster out of their hand. Even if the effect doesn't go through or Dolphin is removed, the deck will keep extend onward and countinue to RIP cards, well unless you gamma or Nibiru at the right time.
2:45 This is 110% true, I went to a Maximum Crisis preview, pulled and Ash Blossom and sold it for $80 because I didn’t have three copies and knew I’d never get three copies lol
My first packs got me FIREWALL Under 10 minutes and I had 4Link monsters I could actually play and a few more cards XD Having lost my old Extra Deck after moving, that helped A LOT to get back in gear!
I’d say for returning players first have them learn the mechanics of fusion, Scyro, Xyz, pen, Link in that order. Then after that give them the basic understanding of card effects and once per turn
@@mohammedhussain6749 I would argue fusion synchro and xyz before link namely because those 3 methods are not restricted by Extra monster zone. Link requires you to go into specifics about that zone, which would be necessary to then move into pendulums
That Dragoon meme hit hard. The last tournament I went to almost every player I went against had it in their deck even though it had nothing to do with their archetype. It made the tournament almost unenjoyable
pretty sure its the scene when yugi plays exodia from episode 1, the red and the blue being the lifts they were in. Idk why he and us should hate ourselves for knowing though.
I literally started like 5 months ago my friend taught me the basics in 2 days I found the good yugitubers (obviously including Cimoooooooo) and found about all the hidden rulings and well play it well but I prefer two rouge decks atm they are fun but don't always win
@@ivanpaijolin9128 You can activate monster effects equal to the number of different summoning mechanics. For example you control 1 link and 1 xyz monster that means you can activate 2 monster effects, but if you control lets say 2 synchro monsters you can only activate 1 monster effect. Also the total number of monster effects you can activate under boarder per turn is 6.(If you control 1,ritual,1 fusion, 1 syncro,1 xyz, 1 pendelum,1 link). So the most decks can only activate 1-2 monster effects per turn (Link and xyz/synchro).
@@heavymetal8679 I guess it's only extravagance right now, but still none of them should really be expensive in the first place!! And now the new one coming will probably follow suit. 🔥💀
@@joshuawenninger6439 Absolutely right. Like pot of desires is seriously a piece of shit and is totally unplayable in any combo deck. Also Cardcar D is essentially a pot of greed with the additional effect that you can't normal summon on the turn you play it and is not anywhere on the banlist and can be played at 3 copies. So actually it's you can't normal summon, special summon or attack on the turn you play this card but it's still better than desires if you have good trap support.
My current deck revolves around summoning, “The last warrior of another world.” It somehow evolved into stealing my opponents monsters with super poly to fusion summon a ton of different monsters.
Wow, I'd never have guessed that, but I think you're right. I was trying to think of specific cards like a blue warrior with a shield and a big rock meteor thing on the right. Yugi being a red square isn't a great depiction.
This is a true story: I'm a high school kid who enjoys his Yu-Gi-Oh and last year I was obsessed with D/Ds (I still think they're awesome and need more love) and I have a few friends that I played with. One day my friend turns to me and looks me in the eye and says "I'm gonna make a Rocket deck". Now this guy was the one who always had the top tier meta deck and considering how I was the only kid who could deal with his Trickstar BULL***T I said "Hey sounds cool". So he then proceeded to buy three of the rocket revolt structure deck and makes a surprisingly decent deck from it along with a few handtraps he had. It was an enjoyable period of time. Now I should mention that not long after this, people started realising the trauma that was guardragon. Fortunately they were too pricy for him so we were safe. UNTIL he discovered a freshman who had the playset of all 3 and he conned the poor kid into trading them. It was a traumatic week. The reason I say week is because the next week, the gods smiled on me and nerfed the sh*t out of them in the ban list and I bullied my friend's ass into the floor for putting me through that.
7:34 is the reason I quit playing physical yugioh. 2 times this happened. D/D/D when master rule 4 hit and Dark Warrior I had all the PK, Destiny heroes ready and the day before my locals was holding a tournament for me to test out for a regional they slaughtered Dark warrior on the F&L list.
I remember I got one of my friends in highschool into Yugioh and we bought some cards from a shop then went to play with some people at the library. I bought like several packs and he only bought one. Legit just one. I am sitting there pulling absolute garbage. He hits me with the, "Is this good¿" shows me what it is and it was a fucking card car d secret rare back when it first came out. I went from being tight he pulled that to being his bodyguard because everyone was trying to trade with him for that and they were trying to rip him off since he was new to the game. One of my favorite Yugioh memories of all time.
I stopped after GX....mainly because my stepdad toss all my yugioh card, but kept my baseball cards. Im not even into baseball, yet i had baseball cards
I remember building Super Quants with a brilliant fusion plant engine back when brilliant was at 1, only for brilliant to get banned literally the next day after I finished the deck...
I hqve a similer story, before my first day of going to locals i ordered 3 salamangreat structure decks, i had a full deck but 3 days befire i went the 2019 july banlist hit which limited circle and gazelle, and i had neither cynet mining or lafy debug..
10:28 - That one was based on a guide I wrote for returning players a few years back. The section on Xyz Monsters starts with a picture of XYZ - Dragon Cannon crossed out and going "NO, NO, NOT _THOSE_ MONSTERS!" Nice to see that joke aged well. XD
6:02 Whoever made this meme did a great job with sticking to the original context of the show. Every time I see this meme, people make it look like things are progressively worse, but this fits the scene perfectly!
That last meme was me when I turned up to locals with a Gravekeeper's Endymion deck. I got trashed, mostly because I barely had any cards that were effective, the rest because I was a bumbling buffoon
Honestly the players that get so mad over their opponent stopping their play that they would try and physically assault their opponent those players should get banned for 1 or 2 years from playing the game at any locals and tournaments.
That ban list one actually happened to me when my tournament at my college this was when card of safe return was legal and dark worlds were still using it I believe in the middle of the synchro era
2:19 "Yeah, well I can still destroy you with an effect!" "Yeah, well I can't be destroyed by your effect!" "Yeah, well my effect doesn't destroy!" *visible confusion*
10:28 I remember one of my last moments with Yu-gi.oh. I started with the first structure decks Kaiba and Yugi an loved the game. One day after some years I walk into a shop an see Generation Force with :"The rise of the XYZ-Monsters" on it. I was like WTF?! We already have that. New support. Stoped playing shortly after I found out, what that meant. ^^
Ngl the chain burn one got me. I remember playing chain burn during zoo & monarch days and having a fun time, but I always felt bad for the opponents. It didn’t matter if I won or lost.
hold up...those squares...are they a duel disk? or is that kaiba vs yugi? wait it could be the castle of illusions surrounding the field with a dark mist...it's one of the 3...most probably a duel disk but the blue as well as blue uniform suggests...OH IT'S THE EXODIA MOMEMENT I'M SUCH A FOOL
Yugioh is like war: Ever evolving. For example, trap cards are like fortifications, but as time goes on, trap cards are rarely used, just as how fortifications are rarely used nowadays.
Big tip for people recommending budget decks, 5 dollars is the MOST expensive a single card in the deck should be and there should only be a max of 3 that cost that much. Saying a 100 dollar deck is budget and going with "Well you should see some of the $500+ decks" is like recommending a 400 dollar pair of shoes to someone as budget because there are shoes that cost thousands of dollars
The best place to start learning yugioh is by playing Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. I just picked it up after not playing since Xyz and I was impressed at the tutorial levels that are in each of the chapters. Very easy to pick up and learn.
I have a doubt, the trap card: Statue of Anguish/ed Pattern,if I remember correctly,It has 7⭐but it doesn't require any kind of summon that costs monster cards, how s that possible?
All yugioh fans are in denial of the fact that they dont actually enjoy the game anymore. You haven't actually said anything positive about the game and anything you attempt to say positively always comes with an but. That's why I quit
this is purely hearsay, but it seems magic's problem is actually getting pretty rough for at least standard, The idea of a 50 card banlist especially containing cards that haven't even seen play seems like a bad sign for power creep
I play magic also and in the last year or so they have come out with half of all the bannings ever in magics history. Honestly it seems like their company stopped caring and is destroying the standard format just to make a quick buck. Its really sad which is why i took a break from magic and am strictly playing yugioh atm. At least yugioh and konami have always been upfront about their blatant power creep lolol
@@vegettoblack7852 Have you seen a "new" TCG that's been gaining traction recently called Flesh and Blood? It comes from New Zealand and it's looking to be a pretty good game.
Honestly i love yugioh but anything that came after yugioh 5ds just turnt me off completely, though i still play yugi oh world, yugi oh 5ds and yugi oh gx on psp and nds
THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE! It was around 2004 when my classmate, who didn't even play Yu-Gi-Oh! bought three MRD packs and pulled 2x Gate Guardian and 1x Summoned Skull.......fml.
man that pulling a good card crap happened to me spent like 30+ dollars on LOB booster packs when they first came out got nothing my sister bought 2 packs pulls a piece of exodia I was 0__0
1:05 I remember when I was playing with a friend who was able to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon using a Cyber-Stein then equipping it with his Megamorph on second turn. He completely went smug on me forgetting about my Mirror Force just standing by at my deck and he went completely nuts when I activated it lol...
My first locals experience was insanely embarrassing. I took all my best high level monsters and built a deck I thought would be really powerful. I entered the tournament and started dueling and tried to summon a high level monster without tributing... oh boy. My opponent was like you cant do that... then he explained to me how the game works and recommended I buy starter deck Joey because it had 7 colored fish, the strongest level 4 monster. This was a loongggg time ago and how ironic that I get Joey's deck when I was deck building just like Joey XD
10:28 LMAO. I feel that one. When I was getting back into the game 2 years ago. I didn't know what Xyz monsters were. I got a random card lot on amazon and got a Barrage Blast. Read that card from the perspective of someone who thought it was talking about XYZ-Dragon Cannon.
I felt the "have to pay for hand traps" sad agumon one deeply. I'm trying to get back into Yu-Gi-Oh by learning about meylta strategies and had to settle for Effect Veiler for my irl deck over ghost ogre and impermanence just because of price.
Yo I remember my first locals, it was at a science museum, and I went up against someone who played a blue eyes deck (which he pulled at least 2 pieces of the lord of d summoning combo in his starting hand) and I had a mix match of my favorite cards that had decent attack. Needless to say my elementary school ass got swept.
“Have any of you played against an opponent that started breaking down and crying or wanting to get physically violent as a result of you stopping their plays?” Bro, there’s no need to put Gage and Joseph on blast like that!
8:01 me with trickstar. I fell in love with the deck when some guy beat me at locals with it back in gouki format so i bought the trickstar core and scapegoats and things. Then scapegoat and light stage got limited.
*Hears all of this nonsense about all of these new rule sets and what monsters are top dog.* *Looks at my old Ancient Gear and Dinosaur decks* *Sad old duelist noises*
