I wrote this song on Monday of Thanksgiving week. It was a long time since I had written a song so the creative process felt like a flowing river. I wrote the song in under an hour, sent a text to my friend Luis who helped me produced Memories and we recorded the song Wednesday.
The original intention was to write a song about my friend who lost her grandfather, then it manifested into the subject matter of Memories and became a part two; however, that isn't the case anymore.
When I got the song, I was having a pretty rough week. It felt like the enemy was just attacking EVERY part of my life. I got the song and literally cried because I thought of what the song REALLY WAS ABOUT.
It went more in depth than Memories ever could. It was not only my relationship to the subject of Memories but my relationship to EVERYONE in my life. I cling onto memories for dear life. Sometimes even more than the actual people.
Even though others may "be" in the music video, know this song is talking to me. I'm not trying to be shady to anyone or juxtaposing myself in a higher plane than anyone. This song is really a conversation to myself.
