Memory enhancing drug...!? (Targeting the integrated stress response with ISRIB) 

The integrated stress response (ISR) is an evolutionarily conserved signalling network found in our cells. Yet a drug, ISRIB, that targets and inhibits the ISR shows memory enhancing effects in mouse studies? What is going on? How does this work? What is the integrated stress response? Is ISRIB safe? How come ISRIB isn't toxic to mice? Endless questions, more research is needed, here is my take on the ISR and the promises of ISRIB for treating neurodegenerative disease, metabolic disorders like diabetes and aging itself.
