Dave Deets shares about the four miscarriages he experienced with his wife. Recognizing the lack of resources for men dealing with miscarriages, he wrote When Men Have Miscarriages to help families through these difficult times. In this interview, he talks about how men like himself and those he has walked alongside often feel disconnected from the pregnancy their wives are experiencing and have trouble finding their role in their wives’ processes of miscarriage. He also provides advice for Christians on how best to support couples going through miscarriage.

I lost my daughter to trisomy 13. She was alive for about an hour before she passed. The hardest thing about the grieving process is the lack of empathy from those closest to you essentially behaving as if you should “be over it by now”. That truthfully really hurt. I think it’s important to know this as a support person for anybody grieving any loss of life. It’s alright to be sad from time to time because of those 4th trimester moments. It’s not a sin to have loved someone deeply and miss them.

Understandable. One of our lil ones had trisomy x. That was found out by lab and it is a strange way of losing one. Yes the hardship of close friends n family being unempathetic is hurtful but know there are those of us whove gone thru it too and push thru with the Lords help and being there for us men/husbands/fathers grieving in silence.

I just found early this morning that my ex had a miscarriage with my child and I feel like sh i t tbh but not depressed just feel like I fcked up a lot and that’s why I’m not going be able to hold my child im 17 nearly 18 I didn’t just lose one person that I care about I lost somone that I didn’t even get to meet my little one I made a promise to my child that I will see them one day that’s what’s going to keep me going ❤️🕊️

I wished my (now) ex would have talked about our losses (one from a miscarriage) and the other as a toddler 😢I grieved alone

Wife and i have had 8miscarriages in a row. It has done hurt in our marriage which has been under turmoil lately

I'm sorry for you. I hope ya'll are doing ok. I know it's been 3 months since you posted this but my wife and I miscarried twice last year and even now, it still hurts from time to time. I hope you are able to prosper in your live from now on and I wish you the best.
