@@marvik5371 I started running in May and only kept at it for a couple of months. I have never been a good long distance runner and my main athletic focus is powerlifting as I am pretty good at that. Towards the end of the 2 months I was running about 2km in 10 mins, so a lot better than my first attempt haha. That being said the cardio took a toll on my strength and I stopped running. I've just recently started doing easier cardio again in the gym using the elliptical so I have no idea what my running times are. Govt just announced another 3 week lockdown where Im at though so everything will be taking a hit :/
I thought it would take me ages to go sub 4:00, once I started swimming it took me 20 days to reach 3:33. Haven’t done a 1000m in many months, Hoping for sub 3:00 ✌🏼 Great race!
I have some exams coming up and I haven't ran in a really long time due to the lock down and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for sub 4:30 1km run? I know it sounds fairly easy but I don't know if I can pull it off with my current conditioning
You just need to get some volume of easy runs in order build your aerobic base. Build this volume up slowly. It won't feel like its helping at first/in the moment, but keep at it and you will notice significant improvements over time. Include a full day a week for speed work (sprints) and 1-2x days with hills/strides at the end of your run. I dropped my time a full 30-40 seconds using this method during quarantine - currently down to 3:20/km after only 60 days. Also google "reddit 1-mile training plan". Some dude posted free running plans and they're super helpful.
@@ikekhan3299 thank you so much but unfortunately I don't have enough time. My exams are in a couple weeks. They're exams for joining the military police (military service is mandatory where I live) and I'm being drafted this coming week, and the exams will take place a few days afterwards. However if I pass I'll have another set of exams in autumn so I'll make sure to follow the training plan you mentioned for then.
i m also taking part in 1000m run so i would like to ask should i breath through mouth in the last moment or not?? Sir any one please help with details
5k and 17.50 are great results for 14 years, in many countries 16.00-16.30 gives a medal at the u18 national championship 1k and 5k is a big difference, I'm running 800m (I'm closer to 400 than 1500) 1k I run at 2.26 while 5 at 17.30 but I have friends who can't go below 2.30 and 5000 run under 15 minutes
triathlete, explains a lot, you understand how short a distance of 1000m is and how much speed you need to run such a distance, 2.30 is 60 seconds at 400m most long-distance runners or triathletes run 400 in 54-56 seconds, and this is not enough energy, here you have to run 52 seconds to think about such a result, I run 49.3 and 2.26, but I'm not that tough, usually 2.26-29 runners out of 400 run 50.0-50.5
They are tempo runners, also called "rabbits" in the athletics jargon. The rabbits are athletes who are usually not the best at that particular distance, but they can hold speed for maybe half a race or more. The meeting organizers set the rabbits in order to make sure that they help set a particular tempo which guarantees a faster time. The other athletes can simply stay tucked behind the rabbits until they leave the race. In short, it's a tactic by the organizers to show the audience a good performance. Without the rabbits, the race can be too tactical (and slow) because the athletes look at each other and wait for who is gonna set the tempo. Setting the tempo is a hard thing to do if you wanna challenge for a race win because it is physically/mentally demanding. Note that the rabbits are not allowed in Championship races. There, every athlete is on their own.
@@davutklc5275 That's fine for your age. Try improve your lower distances and increase your raw speed along with it too. That way your higher distance PB's will fall down massively. And you're entering the age phase where with regular training and a good coach you will see massive improvements. All the best and keep on grinding.
