In the bronze medal game of the 2021 Men's Softball European Championship Croatia defeated France 6-4 in a game that was slow to burn but quick to catch fire.
Through four the game was tied at zero, with 9 strikeouts between the sides, before Croatia jumped ahead by 5 in the 5th courtesy of a grand slam off the bat of 3B Damir Mandic.
In the bottom of the 6th France brought the game to within a run with a two-out rally. Without a single batter hitting for extra bases, the Frenchmen got within striking distance putting up 4 runs in the inning.
Matej Kamenski gave Croatia their insurance with his second solo homerun in the game during his at bat in the 7th. His first came directly behind the grand slam.
Croatia closed down the French offense in the bottom of the inning to secure the country's first medal win in European Championship history.
