Well said. Thank you for your service, my Dad was in Law Enforcement for 9 years, but never really had a hobby or activity to unwind and I think it led to his burnout, and during that time we didn't really bond. I came back to the hobby after 25 years off, since a couple injuries ended my dirt track career, and use it to de-stress as well as bond with my boys. Heck I'm debating starting a channel of my own!

Thank you very much my friend!! I truly believe that hobbies are VERY helpful as a means to escape and relax from the stresses of life! I claim this from experience. Have fun with the boys!! As to a RU-vid channel, I find it a fun hobby in itself! Yes, it’s a little work but sharing is rewarding to me! Jump in and have fun brother!!!

Thank you for your service Mark. 18 yrs wearing the badge myself, before injuries forced me into retirement. I did the PPC, Bullseye pistol and steel plates as well, until circumstances made me put those away for a while. Everything you said was spot on. Not just high stress jobs like ours, but for us all. This is more than just a community question, it's a mental health public service message and you stated it perfectly

Being 67, I've been building models for some 55+ years, off and on. Got away from it in my military years. I used to enjoy several hobbies - shooting, handloading, collecting guns, motorcycling, camping, musclecars, role playing gaming and computer gaming, reading, etc. More recently, after retiring, I have had several health problems that have made me disabled and homebound, unable to drive. So many of my hobbies had to go away. I can build a model sitting in my easychair. Modeling keeps my mind active and XXL fingers more nimble. And when I have finished a kit, I can hold it in my hand and say, "I made that!" 😎👍 Modeling serves a great need and purpose. 😊

My dad was a retired police officer I remember him building them when I was little especially the Badman monogram ,I totally understood as I was getting into building them relaxing, rewarding and fun, thank you for your amazing channel oh yes 100 percent on the prayers ,many blessings my friend have a great weekend 🙂🙏

I mentioned in my video, the things that get me through bad days are, models, trains, cars and music. I can't imagine what kind of a wreck I would be if I didn't have those tnhings in my life. And, I can't even imagine having to inform someone of a lost loved one. You're stronger than I am, sir!

I got the why are you buying those toys from my dad they were a stress reliever right there. I was in high school. I'm 81 now, had stents in my coronary arteries, had a stroke, and fortunately, the only thing that happened was I went blind in my right eye. But I can and do build models!! Cars, airplanes, and armour. And it sure helps.

Great topic Mark ! I couldn't agree more , model making has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life, to many to count. I love the creative thinking the hobby give me and the fun in seeing all the different types of builds that people in the community come up with has improved my building skills quite a bit , not to mention the 3D printed stuff over at MCV produces , great quality! I have my May month orders on the way. I'm also looking forward to having the '29 Ford roadster I have on the way from you Mark and thank you for the Hobby Nut Models stickers ! Great stuff, keep it up!

You hit the nail on the head with this one i can almost say model building saved my life i was on the verge of taking my own life due to my depression being so bad i just put myself in my hobby room started building and all but forgot my problems. My life has changed so much over the years i cant believe what i had almost done to myself and my family i can truly say model build was indeed my therapy that saved me awesome content as always Mark THANK YOU!!!!

Very well said Mark i have severe PTSD and other related mental health problems and painting figures and building models keeps me in the fight and it is a fight every day . But between my wife and some very kind people i have met through this community and an old army marra i am still here . I would say to anyone with head problems please talk people are kinder and more understanding than you think . Just scratch building the underside of a Shelby GT500 bonnet as you say the thought process and then the application just helps get me concentrating on something positive . As a RN, I often see people at their worst...It takes a toll on the mind even if I don't realize it at the time. I tell my patients that I think we all need a hobby. It doesn't matter what that it is. Well said my friend!

Well said, Having associated with and had a few LEO's in our churches has taught us a whole lot about the real stresses that these community servants experience on and daily basis. Can't imagine going through some of the situations that these Men and Women of the Badge face each and every shift, the calls and the people they respond to, especially in a world where we are now seeing majorities of individuals saying wrong is right and right is wrong... You, know, for a Busted Head Guy, you sure got some smarts! LoL!! Love You Bro!!

Great advice! Can you tell me where did you get the psychologist quote from. will like to share it with my friends. And like you ,my faith is my base where I try to stand every day and a quote I live with is Ecl. 3:3 A time to break down, and a time to BUILD up; Creating things is a reflection of our creator, So what ever talent we have we must use it when possible, write, sing, paint , play.....build. I consider model building an art which with time and practice has got better . but like everything we need motivation and this community provides that. Mr. 007, well said.

I debated making a response video to Jason’s video. I DID comment on his video. I don’t think I could have made as good a response as you have. I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder 26 years ago. I lost a marriage and my military career as a result. Sometimes it’s hard to even find motivation to enjoy a hobby (and I’ve also had several over the years), but medications help. Peace and love.
