Tim's love of MB reminds me of myself when I was young! It's awesome when young people love these cars. I sold a 300SD to a 22 year kid today. He was over the moon happy....a definitely memory maker!
Oh please leave the exhaust off 🤣Just love the care Tim has for the old girl as he checks the fluids. Classic and beautiful piece of German machinery. Hats off to him
Damn its good to see Timps 6.3 driving, Considering it was a serious pile and as mentioned bugger all parts available with most engine parts being Unobtainium You've done well Tim. Now about the appointment with Genie :-P 6.3's sound better than 6.9's so you know you wanna :-)
He will be going to genie too, i beleive the plan is for a free flowing but not too droney exhaust. Let it be known its a v8 but not piss everyone of in the process like centerlink enthusiast commodore drivers with chev badges.
My 87 W124 had the same issue after installing a new master brake cylinder - when the engine is off, the brake pedal is unable to depress i.e rock solid, and while engine is operating, it's normal brake pedal pressure, though quite soft i.e depresses about 1/3 down before getting any braking effect. Although it does stop the car, it was a new experience and persists. Not sure what that's about yet.
check the operation of the 1 way valve on the big plastic vacuum hose to the booster. There should still be vacuum assistance for at least one more operation of the brakes in an emergency if the engine stalls. This is a safety issue. The booster itself may have a perforated diaphragm too.
Fabulous 6.3! Just saw an over 'restored' one on Jay Leno. Like Tim's much better. (Uh oh. Brake pedal just went hard on my 1992 W124 yesterday! Another problem!)
