So the ticking is infact excessive valve clearance - all of the adjusting ball studs are kind of stripped and turn too easily. Surprisingly no one has come up with a solution for this and naturally - they are no longer available. This engine will require valves adjusted VERY regularly at this rate.
I have a friend that has a 280 se with the m130. He had exactly the same issue. Oiler tube blocked and it completely destroyed the cam lob and rocker arm. Glad you caught it in time. I'm currently restoring and rebuilding a 1970 109 6.3. Marvelous car!!
