No one who buys them cares about that. Certainly Mercedes doesn't. It's the European way. Build them super complicated so they only last the lease period then wait for the suckers to come back and get another one before the old one explodes
It never stops to amaze me how people are knocking this car down before they even test drive it. It does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. Has all wheel drive and rear wheel steering which means you can drive it in all weather. It has F1 racing technology from Mercedes racing and every one is complaining about it instead of appreciating that they are sharing this technology with us. Having the most powerful 4 cylinder in the world that has 671 horsepower is amazing to me. I would get it in a heart beat. It also has great sound for a 4 cylinder and will beat the old 8 cylinder that every one likes. 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds is what makes this car so special. Test drive it before you make an opinion on it.
At what point are we going to properly assess the environmental impact of a vehicle holistically, i.e. including the mining and refinement of base materials such as iron, lithium and all the more exotic materials, the emissions and impact of manufacturing, as well as end-of-life disposal/recycling, AS WELL AS the environmental impact of the car while it is on the road, such as fuel consumption, emissions, tyres, brake pads, etc., when governments tax these vehicles? So we don't get these ridiculously complicated and heavy vehicles just so we can have a low "tailpipe" emissions number, while ignoring the enormous impact of making such a vehicle? Then we can have an apples-apples comparison, i.e. what OVERALL impact does the old "low-tech" 6.2L C3 have on the environment vs this new version? I can't be the only person who thinks this monstrosity is NOT a better solution to the performance vs emissions balancing act? I think the current system is broken if this the way out of climate change while still maintaining performance?
Most of the climate change action being taken by governments is a scam. Just like the recently announced climate reparations to poor countries. What are the odds most of that money is siphoned off to corrupt african/asian governments rather than spent on any infrastructure. Probably in exchange for mining/forestry access rights for western governments. the whole thing reeks of scam.
Yeah it's over complicated and crazy heavy, can't see how it's supposedly environmentally friendly LOL. If I remember correctly, companies such as Porsche have stated, rather ironically, that we may see larger engines again in the future (perhaps as hybrids) to help pass emission regulations...... (Or perhaps synthetic fuels will take off and become the norm, who knows).
Excellent comment. While I am all for a clean environment there is firstly never any honest discussion about the validity of "climate change" and the numerous examples of "scientific" fraud surrounding it. "Climate change", if some research is done, is simply a vehicle by which our global masters justify one part of their global control agenda. With respect to EV's and to Raymond's point, the net total impact to the environment vs petrol engines needs to be considered. The electricity to power them still has to come from burning something, creating emissions plus the material acquisition/processing to make the batteries and their eventual disposal all factor into an environmental impact. Adding another 800-1000lbs to a typical car certainly does not reduce energy consumption as well. All to produce lifeless cars only a drone society would love.............
For the same money, I’d take a tidy example of an E63 from an era when you had a proper engine and didn’t have to operate everything as if it were a video game.
No one appears to remember the W 203 Mercedes C32 AMG with a 3,2 liter supercharged V6 that came before the C55. It’s a shame because it was a very good entry level AMG
@acaurosevic30, i have it with super low miles, in pristine condition from brand new, to be honest, its a garage queen that has less than 14k mls, i have heard all sorts of crazy offers for it, my main dealer has even offered to buy it back from me, what a mice car, driven once in 2022!
@@acaurosevic30 well maybe, not intending to get rid of it for whatever the reason, i just enjoy the popping eyes when people see it for what it is and the production year, its still on its original tires, nothing was ever changed except an oil service!
The C63 AMG was never a lightweight, but 2100kg...damn. The new tech is cool and all, but I fail to see the point of getting one when the E63 AMG looks pretty much the same, actually weights a bit less and for not much more money comes with the V8.

Just listen to it. It should come with an alternate version of Elton John's Sad Songs on the harddisk, something like "So turn'em on, turn'em on, turn on those sad sounds", so people could listen to that trying to drown the non-V8 sound out.. What truly bothers me about this car is, that now the C-class AMG is a heffer of a four cylinder hybrid, the value of the true AMG C-classes, especially the 6.2, will go even higher. I'll never be able to afford one 😥Great job delivering your first expressions of the car though. Being a car geek isn't getting easier now.
In this class and price, it would be a CT4 V Blackwing, but even having a twin turbo V6 with a manual would be a massive improvement over this atrocity.
Nearly the weight of a tesla Model S plaid. 65kg difference, if that with a full tank? Modern hybrids are made to be so heavy... I love 4-wheel steering, though. What does that tend to add?
What is AMG smoking? Downgrade in noise, styling, and they dont want journalists utilizing the power and torque bump to do the one thing all AMGs do well? Smoke the tires
I am glad that l jumped on the Mercedes band wagon and bought the C63 coupe the last of of the V8’s this year. Imagine paying over 200k for a portly 4 cylinder , no thanks.
Mercedes, Congratulations. In all of my many years of watching RU-vid videos, I finally couldn’t wait for an ad to interrupt this review. Any car that requires so much explanation is a failure. Not the reviewer’s fault; it was necessary to translate what was completely avoidable on your part.
If I may, MB does have a inline 6 in their 53 models they could have applied. V6 configuration never get any love, flat or inline. But 4 pot seems too collin, especially in 2L displacement, they are everywhere...
@@_que, I was going by Cadillac, but you can easily throw the BMW straight 6 into the mix as well. My main concern is how stressed that 4 pot is pushing out that kind of hp. I've been a fan of 4-cylinder turbo cars since the 80's, but even I cringed when I saw the hp that the Focus RS is putting out...let alone with a tune. Same reason why I would opt for the 5-cylinder diesel Transit vs. the 4 cylinder one....no need to push the 4-cylinder too far. I guess time will tell.
@@_que V6 never gets any love? What about Busso, or Toyotas 3.5 in Lotus? V6 is better in sports car, whole engine sits more in the center than with inline.
I don't care if this has a 3000 hp engine. If it ain't a V8, it ain't a deal. Good luck with the maintenance costs on that extremely compressed four cylinder turbo with that battery pack. It sounds absolutely atrocious, and those taillights look disgusting. Let's see for how long this car can maintain itself in the next couple of years.
Yeah my main gripe is weight, cars like these will always be expensive and potentially troublesome to maintain after a warranty period, even if it did still have a V8.
The one word I'm hearing from every review of this car so far: disappointed. If you really must have a C-Class AMG, save 20k and buy the C43. This one looks like it's after a different audience than the traditional AMG buyer.
For the money I expect journalists to tell me it's brilliant. But after seeing more than one video about it everyone's just like "yeah it can be fun". The ICE age is over, boys and girls. You either hold on to the older generations or go full performance EV in the coming years.
And, having driven a Tesla Model 3 Performance to its limits and past them, the EV performance age sucks. This is going to be like the late 70s and 80s all over again (i.e. there are still cool supercars and hypercars for the wealthy, but the cars that regular people can afford are horrifically depressing).
@@flyingphoenix113 Since the model 3 isn't the be all and end all of things, better machines will come if the market demands them. I'm keeping my hopes up for the electric Alpine and Renault Alpine Cars for example. That being said, I'm going to order an Alpine A110 next year before it's too late.
Not buying it. Like everything else ‘wrong’ in today’s society, it’s just a matter of reciting something enough times for it to be considered true. That’s why it must be true that I’m a racist, sexist, overprivileged and in immediate danger all at once. For the next few decades, all people have to do is just not buy these stupid cars. Germany will have to come to its senses in the next six months for different reasons, and may consider using this EV-wannabe car to power their factories.
They really should have softened the blow using the C43 engine although I imagine a lot of work and research went into the A45 power plant so makes financial sense to use it here
Crap. Once this all this net zero rubbish fails, they'll all go back to ICEs. Already signs that's happening with the slow down in EV sales after the gov said they're going to tax EVs
