igotwhips Get whatever makes you happy, speed is not everything. AMG GT is a real drivers car. I'd go for R8 because I prefer a V10, but that's just me. There's no wrong choice. Ignore the idiots.

CaFilms Some of the craziest purists I've seen drive Porsches with PDK.. It depends how you define a drivers car. Also, the transmission tells nothing about how the car acutally drives and how the steering feels etc. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think the AMG GT won Motor Trends best drivers car in 2013 I believe, not quite sure.

Being a 911 PDK owner, I have to both agree and disagree. PDK is by far the best transmission produced at the moment. However, I still wish I got a manual, it's just so much fun.

The Mercedes AMG GTS is not a supercar. A supercar is what can reach 200mph, even the AMG GTR doesn't. Everyone mistakes the Mercedes for a supercar, but it's really in the same sports car class as most Aston Martins or Corvettes...

BlackWind I think you've got your terminology incorrect. They're compared because they fall into the same price bracket. At this level, it's what you prefer, not so much whether one can beat another in a straight line. They do this type of "comparisons" to spark up comments. Kinda pointless otherwise since the r8 has a clear advantage at these type of things.

Komor Uddin there are tons of variables involved whenever they do these type of comparisons. Rolling drags would probably make more sense especially when dealing with awd vehicles. But again, at this level of the game, it really comes down to what you prefer. 👍🏻

Mid engine layout has better weight distribution so the r8 will be faster by atleast 2-3 seconds. Mercedes fanboy check motortrend car of the year and the r8 is faster by 3 seconds so shut the fuck up

Kalamity When was the last time Mercedes got a 1st place finish at LeMans? 1989? I don't even think they compete in prototype classes. Audi has always been a powerhouse in WEC, their departure will be missed.

True, but LMP cars are totally different machines.. at least the GT3 and DTM cars have some similarities with these road cars. But still huge respect to Audi for their dominance in LeMans / WEC. Love both brands.

CAR magazine strapped timing gear to a V10 R8 and the V10 R8 Plus. Incredibly the standard V10 did 0-60 in 2.96 seconds, faster than the V10 Plus and ½ a second faster than Audi quotes for the standard V10! It's an incredibly fast car.

the greatest thing in this ist that the merc is 50kg heavier and doesn't have awd. And no i don't like audis. Rear wheel drive is a good excuse but think of the mclarens - for example even the 570s. They are even faster than the audi with just rwd. Just a better launch control

Results were obvious. Audi R8 V10 Plus gives tuff time to Lambo Huracan.
