I installed this engine on a 2006 R350 8 bought with a bad engine. engine was good, I sold the R class already! i drove it for almost a year with no problems, good luck guys
I got a guy balance chain by the dot on the gear (nearly the label, not by the label). This means on the right, he moves the red mark back to 10 gear, then on the left, he moves the red mark up 10 gear. The center just jumps follows chain 10 gear. The engine still runs smoothly because the timing is still correct. Crazy guy.
Hello thank you so much for your help and video very good explanation I am sure this is going to help me out a lot Got a question for you I’m getting this tapping noise from the engine 4.6 L v8 any idea what this is or where is coming from I am digging for air right now but my codes are p0016 / p0017 Please if you got any advice I will really appreciate it
Hi nelson, great video. I have to relplace the front timng chain cover, it cracked in a collison. Im not looking at replacing the balance shaft now, just want to replace the front cover, is it possible to remove the 2 bolts under the intake/exhaust camshaft front gears without removing the cam covers, will the small covers (cam shaft sensor cover) provide me enough space to work with if i use a special tool. Thanx
if you're talking about the main front cover, the big one, yes you have to move the gears out of the way to remove the bolts the hold the front cover. On this engine we call the little windows were the camshaft magnets and sensor are "the front covers"
Thanx for your reply, ok as u say to remove the front-main timing chain cover (the big one), the cam gears have to moved out of the way to get access to 2 bolts each side. Once the timing chain is set in its position as shown in your video, how do u install the front-main timming chain cover, wudnt you have to again remove the cam gears again, to install the 2 bolts each side. Appreciate your time and response
well set engine at 40°tdc, break loose the camshaft bolts, you have to lock the intake camshaft gear with a pin and also zip tie the chain to the gears so it doesn't move and mark the chain to the gear just in case.you replace the big front cover also be very careful with the head gasket not to get crushed when pushing the front cover, once you put in the front cover then you put the 4 bolts and re-install the gears. Also you may have a hard time pushing the front cover because the timing chain plastic guides will be in the way, so figure it out😅 may need to push the guide with skinny long screwdriver,... good luck!
Nelson Garcia thanks my engine #30412449 I called the dealership they said it hasn’t been done but they were not very interested in looking it up do you know if the number falls in the bad engine it’s not doing anything just a little noise but with 170000 miles I would think if it would go down by now thanks for your help
yes,but on the 273 you don't have to remove the engine because it doesn't have a balanceshaft, only the gear which can be replaced through the front. and you don't have to worry about the gear to be set on a specific place. just the crank and the camshaft gears.
Thank you for the information I’m working on a 4.6 v8 I’m in the process of removing the harmonic balance any help on the special tool to remove it? Thank you Good video 👍
Hey, to remove the Harmonic Balancer/crank pulley you just need a 27mm socket with a good 1/2 air gun. If that doesn't take it out then yes you will need the special tool to hold the harmonic balance.
Hello Nelson, i want to ask u for something I have a mercedes w203 c240 2.6 w engine and i see oil leak at valve cover gasket. Is it safe to drive ? Bc dont have to much oil, another problem is i have a little water lose and i dont know where is going bc i dont see leak. Is it possible if water goes into engine and mixing with oil? Oil level is not filling up . Sorry for my english
yes it's safe to drive it, the only thing is that you will smell the oil been burn by the exhaust manifold. The coolant evaporates a little, so don't be surprised if you have to add a little coolant at every service
Nelson Garcia thank you very much, in my contry dont have good service for cars, one of them say u must have burn head gasket, my car never was with high temp overhating, never had smoke from exchaust and hever had misfire, can u tell me symptoms of head gasket faillure ? Please
well you will be loosing coolant which would be mixing with the engine oil and you'll see the oil turning into brownish color, like milkshake. Your engine won't be running good you will have misfiring on few cylinder,
si, es un 272 6 cylinder, lo unico diferente es los exhaust manifold, los oil pan and sub oil pan y el filtro plástico de la pompa de aceite y claro el oil dipstick tube and dipstick
