I just LOVE these cars. While I could never afford one of them, I do own and drive a Mercedes CL 55 AMG, which is as close as I can come to one of them. The CL 55 AMG is a bit like the best of two worlds. It is all Mercedes, but it also performs a lot like an American muscle car. I have loved Mercedes since my first car, a '56 190 sedan that took my Dad and I almost two years to restore. So, I got my Mercedes love right from the beginning. One thing is that I am a purist. I have no interest in altering my car. I like it in stock condition, just the way it came from the factory. Great video of a beautiful automobile. Love it.
*Porn stuff right here!* 😍 Jokes apart, when was this amazing footoge exactly recorded? Was it for during a test trial for the CLK? I'm guessing it because it looks like the Hockenheim seems during the Winter seasonal closure, not for the weather, but because some extra facilities under construction in the "arena" zone can be clearly seen within the Start Und Ziel straight. Thanks GWM!
My guess is around 2001-2002. The Track had been shortened already, but the higher deck of the Südtribüne hadn't been completed yet. Also the colossal bottle was still branded as Mobil 1. Nowadays it has Ravenol branding.
It’s probably from 2002. Definitely not part of the development anymore as it was a taxi ride offered to VIP customers. You wouldn’t do that with a development car.
@@Gullwingman yeah totally right, and you can clearly see the goddamn Tilke's modifications to the circuit too. At first I thought they were just using the intermediate configuration but rewatching it I saw to my horror all the "new" Hockenheim. My bad, I was tired and on the verge of sleeping when I wrote my comment, and the "corridors" through the trees of the ex-Östsection that could be still seen in 2002 just illuded me lol.
@@Gullwingman you know, maybe if it was a sort of demostration along the new "Tilkering" to present it to vips or whatever, it was a good thing they used the CLK-GTR, that piece of a car surely distracted whoever was present to see the horror around them! XD Way to go with tricks FIA!
@@wendigockel yeah, that's why I said that it was during the Winter closure, I saw facilities under construction, so it must really be just after Tilke's reconfiguration in late 2001, maybe the GTR run itself was a way to promote the new Hockenheim, or a way to farewell the old one, as the last Great Icon of the original (great) Hockenheimring.
Please please please make a video like these "full story of xx" about the black series cars. I heard someone say sl65 bs was supposed to have 850hp and now I'm super curious about it
