A step by step tutorial on how to remove, clean, and re-seal Mercedes diesel fuel injectors to address the dreaded "black death". If you have a diesel, this is something you need to be aware of
I had a stuck hold down clamp too, i found that a large round punch that was about the same size as the hole gave e good leverage to rock it and twist it loose
450 000 km waw, my c220 CDI with 108118 miles 2005 model, all still in good order, never overheated, no black death. but I must remove the injectors to fix the valve cover gasket, due to an oil leak on the hot side exhaust side, so I will include the injector seals. maybe even the breather pipe also. Any advice on when I should think to renew the sprocket and chain? it's only a 4-cylinder.
Just typed the "use the body panel puller tools" comment right before you grabbed yours. I've done this job a couple times, and it's always an adventure. Getting the injectors to twist a bit really helps. I wonder if hooking up the slide hammer C-clamp thing and twisting on that with a wrench would help. Good work.
That is too funny , as I always sniff my diesel pumps if I am at a different fuel station, what I don’t understand is that BP stations all have green handles for gas and black for diesel 😜
My dealer told me that in trying to correct the injector they broke the bolt. Now they want to take off the valve covers. I told him 7K is my limit, baby!!!
This is why I'm going ti attempt it myself with the help of more mechanically inclined friends. Don't want a shops potential carelessness make me have to pay out the ass for their mistakes
I have a 2004 308CDI sprinter with the 2150cc DT4 engine, still haven't found a video showing injector removal on this engine. :( the 2150cc DT4 inlet arrangement is different to the engine in this video, inlet manifold is on top of the injectors making access more difficult. very likely to be more difficult :(
Great job and a really good video. Now that you have done this it would be really interesting to see how this car responds to a professional injector cleaning like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xYsXHC2-PSw.html. Planing on doing the same job as you on the injectors as a preventative job on my R320 and R350 CDI. And also the injector cleaning.
