I actually like the fake leather seats. They wear way better and looks new after years.

Love your reviews. Made me think about that ´Autonomous ´ feature and was thinking that it may be a good idea to offer a foot rest above the brake pedal so as to have quick reaction times to it in case of an emergency. Just thinking.

Not everyone wants a leather interior and, there is growing interest in materials derived from sources other than animal-skin. To be forced by the manufacturer to spend more for non-leather interior would be absurd.

Another excellent review. But Europe is driving a "no more animal hide movement" and many other reviewers are jumping on board with fake suede cloths mixed with high quality vinyls. The fake leather "MB Tex" used in Mercedes for the past 30+ years is a specialized hybrid of textured vinyl backed by strong fabric that makes a pretty indestructible and easy to clean surface. I drive a GLK with MB-Tex and it doesn't get hot in summer and body heat softens it up rapidly like leather. It's perforated to disperse body heat and moisture (perspiration) and my two big dogs have yet to pierce the fabric and they have torn apart the back seat of leather upgraded cars before (too big to be caged in the back). I was not initially thrilled I did not get leather but 2 years later it has paid of in spades. If I do MB again I will demand it as my fabric of choice.

Mercedes-Benz issued a recall covering 354,000 examples of several late model vehicles (between the 2015 and 2017 model years) for fire risk 🔥. Among the vehicles in question are: 2017 E300 (incl. 4Matic), 2017 E400 Wagon & 2017 E43 AMG.

Really hoping you two can do a current (2023) review and comparison of both the E 450 and 540i before these medium sized, roomy, straight-6 powerful, AWD, and seemingly semi-sporty alternatives to SUVs disappear or go full-electric. I see the E 450 won MotorTrend car of the year in 2021, so there must be something there. Hoping to drive one of each soon, but would appreciate your opinions on these cars to help me think it through.

i sat in the new e43 amg. i was kind of surprised how small it felt lol. i know im not a small guy but i drive a 2002 impala and that car feels like bus inside compared to this.

What if you want cloth seats? Cloth is more comfortable and good cloth will look better over time

what does it come with if its not leather?

Optional leather is the best thing they could have done. Not everyone want their car to be full of dead animal skin. Plus the synthetic stuff, especially from companies like MB, is WAY better in pretty much every way. Not to mention that unless you're sitting naked, you'll never feel the material anyways

Very good review as usual. Two more things that I find quite subpar on the reviewed vehicle: the old same boring wheel design (M.-B. has some of the ugliest wheel designs; really need to hire an Audi designer) and the cheap black piano plastic on the center lower console that will be scratched all over way too quickly. At least on the C-Class the optional wood trim almost remove all of it but not on the E-Class??

It's always been that way with the E. Leather seats and optional tech. I wouldn't buy a turbo. I'd lease this only. 241HP. Come on man.

IMO the black wood+black leather looks horrendous. I know it's actually really fancy, IIRC that wood is one of the most expensive Mercedes offers and you can only get it with tons of other options packages, but the completely blacked out interior looks cheap. Because there's no color and texture contrast between the materials unless you look closely, the wood and leather on the dashboard look like Mitsubishi grade greasy plastic, even though they're obviously not. Because of those cheap looking surroundings, the very real metal trim doesn't look real either. 2- or even 3-tone interiors look so much better, dark enough on the seats to hide stains and creases, light enough elsewhere to provide contrast and show what the other materials actually are. You can tell that an actual designer went through and decided exactly where each color should go, rather than just slathering everything in Beige hide like a $10/hour drone at Nissan's plant in Mississippi could easily do. If you're going to get black wood, get the lacquered wood or the one with the metal insert lines. Why pay so much for expensive materials if you're just going to deliberately hide them as much as you can? Save some money and get a base C-Class with nothing but plastic and vinyl if you're going to option your Mercedes up like the one in this review.

The E Class will NEVER be a bigger version of the C Class. More like the C class is the smaller version of E and S

Not a fan of the new C & E Class MB. They look too butt-heavy. Reminds me of a 1980s Caddy Seville with more rounded trunk features

design is boring...instead of all these features we would like to get good engine and transmission, and this applies on all modern cars. How people drive safely with this huge screen , even Honda accord has two screens
