Quick demonstration on possible fix for some of you out there when your Mercedes electronic ignition acts up intermittently. Take it apart and check that connector on the circuit board
Thank you for this information. It solved my issue on a 2010 Gl450 (low miles). Intermittend start, sometimes no start for 5 minutes, very frustrating feeling. When I openened the module after removal (used a $10 tool from Amamzon, did not want to scratch anything up), the white plug was stuck EXACTLY as shown in your video. I was a little nervous regarding the soldering part (I have the tools, just not something I do on a daily basis). This is what worked for me: 400 degree setting, thin, pointy tip and I did not add material, just carefully placed the white part with the contacts into place and heated the existing solder at the base up (one at a time), thereby getting the tiny feet of the contacts re-seated. 2x3=six contacts total (two sides three each). The white plastic part was making strong contact with the board, nothing was loose. Tested it, car had power right away. So far 10 starts and everything works as should. Oh, i used toothpicks for opening the plastic latches on the unit (keep them open while going around), that made it a lot easier. I dont think I would have beeen able to do this without your video, thank you very much! ~
I’m having this problem right now with my 2011 ML350, going to try this. Don’t even care if it fixes it, this is a fantastic video! Great job. Impressed!
Have a 2010 Gl450 with exact same problem. Tomorrow, i'm gonna do exactly what you did, and I'm hoping that I find exactly what you found. Great video, thank you very much.
Same problem exactly - 2007 clk280 amg. Scary but going to dive in and have a look. When it comes to cars, being brave and having a go yourself saves you thousands, and if you balls it up - well you were going to have to pay anyway. At least i can do fine soldering. Thanks so much for this video man
Sadel really good information! Most likely we're gonna have this problem in the future or one of our friends! Thank you for sharing brother! Take care!
As of 2/15/23, I was informed by MB dealer - "one-year backlog on this EIS part ( not sold to independent shop). Est. Cost to replace at dealer: $2,400.00. SERIOUSLY. WTF.
Thanks, had same symptoms with inconsistent start BAS ESP and turn signal lights. Opened up housing and found dirty optical path and lens. Used q tip and contact cleaner also for a couple copper spring loaded contacts. Now all works. So may be other issue related to EIS which wont require solder or new switch
Great fix, Sadel. I think if most others opened up the ESI module they wouldn’t have caught that piece stuck to the other board since it looked like it belonged there.
Company in Canada that fixes it for $200 And they turn it around and return ships it The same day. MB should start using them! Very easy fix that you can do yourself and save $2200
PRODIGY D-Techs Engineering My teacher Thanks for sharing it with us Thank you very much helpful information video Take care and have a great day PRODIGY D-Techs Engineering From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧 ⏰️ 00.22
I have a ml350 and sometimes it will start and sometimes won’t start but when it’s warmed up it starts up fine I have checked all starter alternators battery everything good I’m hoping it’s the Eis switch
Same problem here with a 2012 MB GLK 350. Don't know if it is the same problem. But the private shop already toll me the cost to fix it $1200 plus labor
