Over 10 less kw charged than other cars to hit 90% don't forget
@Scrap-press
@Scrap-press 3 года назад
@@DES0MX0 obviously it needed less kwh. Smaller batteries can't take as many kw as bigger batteries though. Mercedes often appears to be very conservative, so i believe their charging curve will benefit them once the car is getting older.

It would be good if you could have an overlay of range gained during the time of charge. This would emphasise credit for efficiency.

Delivered energy doesn't compare directly to increase in range. A thirsty car may charge faster but gain less range for a given time. The real race is range gained over time. This is where the Tesla is still king.

Model 3 SR+ would also be interesting for comparison, since it delivered almost identical range to EQA in your test during very similar weather conditions (though Mo3 having different changing speeds on v2 Superchargers, v3 Superchargers and regular high-power CCS fast chargers would make things bit complicated)

Really good point about the voltage compared to ampere, I noticed the same. Locally we got a free 50 kW and my Tesla MS 85d with a warm battery and half-ish charge I get max 43-44 kW. Not sure a Tesla can get closer to 50 kW on those chargers.

EQA, ID4 and iX3 all seem to be really good long distance vehicles. As much as I expected the iX3 to be a terrible vehicle, they've done a decent job with the efficiency and good charging performance. I wonder when I'll do my first 995km to my family with a BEV :)

InsideEVs showed a 2021 Model 3 LR charging at 250 kW, did Tesla update the charging curve? I remember Bjørn only getting 180 kW.

"The winner" was charging 15% less kWhs (55 instead of 63) than the 2nd - what practical benefit should this "win" have, when the EQA doesn't consume a lot less energy compared to the BMW? Even when the BMW started charging a minute earlier, it managed to get 61 vs. 55 kWhs in the same time.

don't forget the smaller pack doesn't charge as fast, Mercedes prootes a charing speed of only 100 KW and it keps up with a very falt curve

In the end the EQA has charged 55kWh in 35 minutes. It took the iX3 only 28 minutes to charge the same 55kWh. And according to you range test the EQA is also not more efficient than the iX3. So the clear winner is the iX3 here or am I missing something?

We don't compare apple with apple. Batteries are not same size and consumtions are also different. Not better to consider how many kwh are charged in a given time or better how many effective-range-km are charged in a given time?

A fully specced EQA is more expensive than a base EQC or iX3. The iX3 even has very few options, so in terms of value, I'd say the BMW wins.

A different result (average absorption 10 - 90%): EQA 1,591 kW/min, iX3 1,588 kW/min, EQC 1,499 kW/min, ID4 1,429 kW/h. Time to a curtain % is not so relevant since they have different battery packs and will drive different distances with same %. Fun fact! If EQA time is not exactly 35 min, but 35min and 59 sec. We don't know because it doesn´t show secs, only on EQC and i rounded that to 46 min. The EQA would drop to 1,546 with 35min and 59 sec on the clock and put iX3 as a winner (if that one is exactly 42 min 0 sec). The difference between them is to small to rank them with precision less than seconds. Also, if the voltage is the charging voltage the EQA clearly has the highest charge volt at 421 volt (at 90%) and iX3 the worst charger at 395 volt. But it might be battery voltage and then it might not matter so much!? Just another way to see it....

@@bjornnyland Some say that EQA has battery configuration 2p100s www.goingelectric.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=546&t=67632 On the Mercedes configuration page www.mercedes-benz.de/passengercars/mercedes-benz-cars/models/eqa/specifications/battery.module.html has been mentioned Nominal Ah capacity of 187,5 Ah (earlier was 190 Ah and someone made a screenshoot) and MAXIMAL Voltage 420 V (if 100s configuration is true, it is 4,2 V per cell which is totally realistic). If we assume 3,7 V nominal per cell, then pack voltage is x100 = 370 V, and gross energy content is 370 x 190 = 70300 Wh. But some dude took maximal cell voltage multipled by Ahours and put that number into ev database page, Voi la!

I took delivery of my new EQA 250 AMG Line last week. Love the car, BUT and a very BIG BUT, as it's a major fail from Mercedes. One cannot schedule a charge from within the settings in the car, or via the Mercedes ME app. This is a basic function that most other (Cheaper) EVs can perform. However, this basic function is not available on the premium car, with a premium price tag. If you have an electricity tariff like Octopus go, you cannot time a charge to take advantage of electricity at 5p per Kwh between 00:30 and 04:30. Unacceptable in my book. Come on Mercedes, get it sorted. It's only a software tweak that can be done over the air.
