I’m assuming you prefer the M119. Is that correct?

That is correct for me at least ;)

Second thing, is that the timing is given in a lifter motion degrees, and lifter without pressure gets a different timing reading. M113 timing values are bloody crazy, this made me mad, and eventually to get correct timing, I had ground some of the sprockets.

It happened to me in an m103, a rocker arm failed, I didn't know it also happened in the m113

Hi! Have a nice day! Tell me, please, what is this clicking sound that follows the beat of your engine? (I'm not talking about the MOT valve). It is especially audible when you remove the rear muffler and the echo of this click is audible. Thank you!

you talking about the lifter tick? I have a complete set new for all 24 to fit on the way while the engine is apart. I cant be bothered trying to work out which one it is so am replacing them all.

Sorry I accidentally left a comment on this video. I was referring to the ticking sound in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lbAVUfYd67w.html

Yeah.. not good. Are you going to replace valve stem seals as well?

nope, i dont want to be in here in the first place at 130,000km old. Not planning to go any further than necessary. I think i’m out of love with this car and get rid of it.

@@MMWA-DAVE Got it! I agree, I miss my w140 with 104 engine. What a rock!

@@MMWA-DAVE The valve stem seals are known to fail on these engines with higher kilometers. You’ll be in there again if you keep it long enough and start driving it a lot. Oil consumption is a good indicator. Another definite failure will be the EGR valve, which is a “when” not “if.” They all start leaking vacuum slowly until the engine runs horribly. You’ll also likely develop the chattering timing chain noise as wear increases, which is very common, but not a real problem other than just the noise. A new chain would cure it, but it’s almost never necessary. They’re still very good engines, just not as good as the M119. At least the long term cost of repair/maintenance is likely lower for the M113.

@@charlesphiliparthurgeorgep4653 i doubt this car will get much use at all with me, i’m contemplating just getting rid of it. My enthusiasm for Mercedes in general went downhill rather quickly when I made the critical error of venturing into the w210 world.
