The cover from Dark Tranquillity introduced me to Mercyful Fate and King Diamond. I did not use to like King's vocals as much back then, but now I think King is a superb vocalist

he is an awesome singer. A lot of people wrongfully label his vocals as falsetto. That is false. He is actually singing in pharyngeal head tone which is a mixture of falsetto and head voice. Very hard to do and KD (outside of opera music) is the best at it.

I learned to play this song on keyboard when i was 9 years old..... I didn't understand my parents reaction when they heard played by me with my teacher vocal. Now I understand their reaction.

Every Mercyful fate album is an absolute masterpiece! I understand people "Don't want to Break the Oath" but lets not confuse preference with reality. The reality is Mercyful Fate was extremely innovative! This is actually one of my Favorite albums. Preferences aside, only the closed minded would deny the mastery going on here.

This has to be one of the most masterful albums of all time in my opinion. One of my fav songs on the album. The King has been an influence to so many metal artists, and even allowed metallica to record Ride the Lightning in his studio. He is a true legend.

I AM FUCKING GLAD King Diamond never sold out!!! It wouldn't sound right (his voice) if they were playing a more commercial sound. His voice fits the evil vibe, I imagine him as an evil opera singer.

I remember listening to Into the Shadows a ton in high school. I was so blown away by the Egypt video on Headbangerz Ball that it made me want to buy the album. I bought time and it wasnt as good but Lady in Black, Afterlife and Time were cool. Nightmare be thy Name was ok. I remember that video as well. The album after Time Im sorry to say crushes Time. Into the Unknown and Into the Shadows r superior albums to the old classic albums. Those 2 r flawless like Priests Pankiller And Stained Class. Tru sons of the Priest with an evil twist.

You have to be a musician or at least have an artistic ear to hear DEAD AGAIN and really like it. Its sorta their Stairway to Heaven album. Since Forever, is cool, I don't like "sucking your blood" sounds too close to "sucking your D999", Banshee is cool, Dead Again is the Stair way art song. Its got its plus and minuses.When I first heard it I was very disappointed. Then I listened to it later after I had evolved myself musically as a guitarist in metal,of all things, and now I really like it. But that one isnt for everyone.

78 STARBUCK The Night is my fave song off Dead Again.I think probably because it's a little bit more straight forward and direct than some of the other cuts off the album.

I have to say that for me "The lady who cries" or something like that is a song that I can relate to. I am Catholic and one thing that has always bothered me is the emphasis on Mary, calling her the Queen of Heaven and such. And how some see her image in a mud stain on a wall and come to basically worship it. NOw to me this is a BIG NO NO violation of commandment 1, no other gods but Him. I always wondered if there might be a demonic deception behind that stuff, then when King wrote this he summed up just exactly how I felt and what I felt to be a real possibility. That's why I love Kings music, he paints these pictures in verse that can make you think in all sorts of ways. THere will never be another MF/KD, EVER

@maziku Yeah I know, when I bro first introduced me to "A mansion in Darkness" and "The Invisible Guests" I loved them both, afterwards I listened to "The Family Ghost" and "Welcome Home" which I hated, the vocals just sounded much weirder to me on these tracks. But since I loved the other 2 songs I became determined to become a fan of King. So I listened to the entire Abigail album in one sitting from start to finish and I fell in love. This is why people shouldn't be so close minded.

Epic song, best song on Time (though that's always debatable, that album is epic) Ever notice how many people come to youtube to dislike a metal song, but we metalheads (at least I don't anyway) don't go over there rocking Beiber's boat, mainly because I can't stand his music and don't want to hear it while I'm aiming at the DL button but still, just saying if you KNOW you don't like something, why search for it?
