I love how Danny didn’t notice she baked a file into the pie, implying that she was preparing for prison, and her granddaughter brought the pie to her.
No it's just a reference to the actual game where you merge gardening tools and a knife is one of them. Merging two knives gets you a rake. Also i would have never guessed playing the game would ever give me knowledge i needed to use...
Danny I hate you for missing the fact she PUT A FILE IN THE BOWL WHILE SHE WAS BAKING so when she was brought the pie she could use it to break out of jail. It's genius
The Merge Mansion team just realized that they're better at making films than they are at games. I expect Lilly's Garden full length live action film by next month.
HELLO!!! I want to spend time with celebrities. Just kidding. GAGAGAGAGA! I only want to spend time with my two girlfriends and record videos for RU-vid with the 3 of us. OH YEAH. Don't hate me for living the best life, dear tKer
What really surprised me was the fact that I saw one of the live-action ads on the actual TV, like not a social media site. They had the budget to get this as a real television commercial. Then I saw another animated one on social media after the live-action ones came out, and the animation quality dropped extensively. Probably because they blew their budget on the live-action.
Honestly grandma has nailed it. When you're old and you've got nothing to lose, might as well commit multiple murder. A life sentence wouldn't be as scary when you're 80.
@@Sproutgoodnight1161 prove to me that hell actually exists, and then i'll take this threat seriously. until then, i'm with OP. life sentence for mass murder isn't so bad if i'm already gonna die in like 2 years anyway lol.
Kathy Bates is imo one of the greatest actresses of all time, she can literally do anything, drama, comedy, horror/thriller, she's amazing, sooooo... How TF did they get her to do ads for a mobile game!?
huge props to them tbh. 99% of ads with real people are incredibly cringe, uncreative, and they use the worst actors on this planet. These ads are genuinely good.
"i have 4 stars (input thing only possible with p2w)" "HA, I have 10 of those, 3 5 stars (input thing that is unlockable by gacha)" then a deep voiced dude comes and says "(NAME OF THE GAME) PLAY NOW"
3:06 so is anyone gonna tell us why she's wearing the prettiest gloves I've ever seen for gardening or...? there are bigger questions than the knives guys
2:00 to be fair Danny, serial killers aren’t the most understandable people, there’s probably some weird reason behind it. Maybe it’s some kind of victor Zasz situation, he cuts himself for every kill, and she only uses one knife per person or something
Grandma isn’t a murderer, she’s just a master chef Those papers she was burning was her secret recipe. She wasn’t burying a body, just planting… spices? That wasn’t blood on her, just jam.
i’ve solved it. she’s just a baker. the knives are for cutting pies, the red stuff on her apron was berries, she was burning her secret recipe, and she was planting seeds in the garden to grow her own berries. she doesn’t want anyone to know she makes pies. you’re welcome gamers😩
yeah exactly! its like, how can they not see at this point that their true talent lies in someone's directorial eye that makes their ads. the game looks like some cheap same-old shit, but these ads tho...
At some point I caved in and downloaded the app and the knives thing is actually kind of a clever joke. In the game you have to merge low value objects to make better ones, and as far as I remember the knives are one of the low value ones. So you begin the game with a whole buch of knives that you have to pair up until you end up with a rake or something more useful.
I honestly love these wacky adds, Kathy Bates is just having the time of her life in these. Plus giving deep intriguing lore is not bad to make a repair/improve house game. Cause they keep going at it in the game, its not like they forget about it in it. In my book there is nothing wrong with this.
I hope that someday Merge Mansion goes the whole 9 yards and reworks the game into some suspenseful horror mystery game. Then people would actually want to play it.
The mystery is "what's grandma hiding?" Is Because she keeps exposing everything about herself. So like, it's really hard to figure out what she would actually try to hide from us.
They put literally everything into these ads, but the game is literally just merging random things to get to the next area. It's just so weird. Also why is the grandma hinted to be some type of murderer? Honestly I'm invested in this storyline.
At the end of the knitting ad, Grandma was knitting something yellow. However, it couldn’t be another grandma decoy because she doesn’t wear any yellow. Who does wear yellow? The main girl. Grandma was knitting a decoy granddaughter for some nefarious purpose.
The director of the live action ads, Jim Jenkins, is an extremely well-respected director. He’s won a ton of awards and is responsible for more than a few of the best Super Bowl ads. Legitimately impressed that the Merge Mansion devs/producers decided to go with legitimately top-level production companies for their advertising given that they’d probably be just as successful with cheaper ones.
@@jello7380 the buzz from the prior ads caused people to download the app, which then caused them to be able to afford kathy and higher production value. it’s why they’re putting out the weird animated ones again, to stir up more interest so they can afford more live action ads
Knife collector (noun) [neif•kull•ekt•er] A corpse with multiple knives stuck inside of it for safe killing “Hey, did you see that cool knife collector next to the coat rack? They really think about everything these days!”
I'm writing that down for when I inevitably get my mansion I built using blood money I earned as an assassin travelling across the globe like Agent 47 Have to slap a catboy's ass to enter the orgy ro- I MEAN SUPER SECRET DINING ROOM FOR RICH PEOPLE HAHA
They got Kathy Bates to star in it, I think a high production value was required. Also if they ever did do a real feature film, they would definitely need Danny to make a cameo in it, as a nod to the RU-vidrs who helped with this game's ad lore.
The joke in the first ad is that in the game you "merge" items together to get new items, so in the game it would be completely normal to have a bunch of knives stored in your shed. Also explains the "so many knives, so little time" line that maybe eludes to how long it take to merge stuff or whatever idk
I can't believe I totally forgot about the game being a "merge" game and didn't even CONSIDER this. That's genuinely clever compared to all these other "is grandma a MURDERER!?"-themed ads.
The second live action ad is such a great concept for a parody horror movie oh my god. Where no matter where you go, it's always a hand-knitted replica, and you're like "Grandma, I can see you right there" but as soon as you get there, bam, it's a hand knitted replica. I'd watch that go on for, like, 2 hours but the actress just gets less and less afraid and more and more irritated. Edit: Wait oh my god the twist could be at the end that SHE was the hand knitted replica all along! When she finally finds grandma, grandma is beside a mirror, and then the camera pans to the mirror, which then shows the replica of the actress, and then it like falls over or something idfk
Sorry to be that person, but wasn't that the 3rd ad and not the 2nd? The 2nd one had the statues, and the first had the knives. The 3rd was the knitting one. Unless I missed something? Lol
I wanna see Danny get sponsored by merge mansion, then create an equally impressive ad for his sponsorship, just like these and like his music videos. I would love to see that honestly
If they fixed up their gameplay and reinvented the game, I feel like this could actually be a really good game. Make it story based, and include different kinds of puzzles. I’m not a huge fan of the “Hello Neighbor” games, but I could see this working in that style.
I love how Danny says: “You can only kill one person at a time.” Soooooooo confidently, as if he had some sort of first-hand-experience on the subject☠️
I don't know why, but the fact that Danny doesn't know the meaning of the word "mortified" and seems convinced that it is related to someone being horrified makes me giggle every time
@@kayleedegroat I hate it when people pronounce it "in-TRIST-ing" and not "in-TER-esting". "conf-TER-ble" instead of "com-FORT-able" does it too. We all got our things haha
Okay, so I am actually obsessed with this game these days… and tbh that first ad made so much sense with actual game. If you merge 2 knives together you get a rake, and the grid that you have to play on is reminiscent of the shed’s tool board in the ad. That being said… these ads as a whole are a weird fever dream for sure. The evil grandmother theme is pretty random for a mind numbing procrastination app. Also love the channel, & I am proud to be Greg!
Damn!!! So disappointed! I was totally gonna ask if anyone who actually put the time in to play it for real could tell us if these had any validity! What a disappointment lol
I kinda love the game. Although I did stop playing when the grind for leveling up and unlocking new content became too much. The ads make no sense, but they must earn a shitton of money with this game to make this live action movie ad
My theory is that the box has the words” made with love and secrets” Maybe the people were horrified at the secrets words. She then opens the box and they are all screaming. I think it’s a head. Maybe the granddaughter gathered her grandma’s old friends to show them what she send from prison. When the people see it they are shocked cuz the trauma of having a horrifying and sociopath friend made them scared. They then see a head and maybe it had the words-“ ur next” making them scared. The grandma is behind them now? So I think she escaped and the friends are all scared at seeing grandma from jail to back in normal society
When danny did the last merge mansion video i downloaded it as a joke and at some point it started religiously playing it so i genuinely laughed when the garage was full of green knives since In the game merging items is most of the gameplay and knives are one of the lower ranked items so you tend to have a lot of them.
This may sound weird but as someone whose watched a lot of murder mystery and true crime - disposing of the knives when she’s done with them so if anyone inspects her home they won’t find bloodied knives with any remnant of blood (you can use certain things to see if blood has been on something that’s been cleaned recently) in her possession
I'm just so happy that Cathy Bates decided to do these ads. This is a great way to get 2022 started. I actually play a lot of these types of games to wind down while watching something, and it's surprising that I've never actually SEEN a Merge Mansion ad anywhere but Danny's videos. If I didn't already download like four matching/hidden object games right now, I'd probably get this one just to see how weird it gets.
There's not much there, it's good for mindless gameplay but you always have to keep updating for the different seasonal games and they don't give you the option not to :/
Let's not forget that Kathy Bates is an Oscar winning actor!!! And for some reason, they took down all of the Kathy Bates saga of videos. I just checked after Danny's most recent video about Merge Mansion
I was kinda into that game in past and the knife shed is actually kinda funny inside joke :D It's one of the first items mergable, so you mostly have full inventory of knives waiting for more energy to merge them
They need to give their marketing team a raise, a vacation and their first born children. They know what they are doing. I’m not gonna lie… I’m invested even though I’m still not sure what the game is about.
I have been watching your videos CONSTANTLY the last few weeks and this is the first time I've really noticed your tattoos. I'm just going to pretend they are brand spanking new and this is your first video with them. Yep. We shall go with that 😂
Just btw as someone who has played merge mansion for years now, the whole mystery thing is pretty much a lie. Even if you wanted to get to the ‘secret’ areas, you would need to get to level 43, which is literally impossible at this point in the game. I have absolutely ran out of things to do in the game, and need over 50,000 more XP to get to the next unlock-able area. Overall it’s a pretty good game, with nice events and a variety of options to merge. But if you’re just looking to find out what the hell ‘grandma is hiding’ then you’re out of luck.
I like it the way it is. They started making those special events, which helps level up faster. There was a Halloween one, a butterfly one, a Christmas one and now there's a strong one. I'm getting loads of XP from that.
I HAD SEEN the live action pie one a few days ago! Watching ads on a mobile game to get free things, and then it hit me. It confused me so hard. ALSO: for that last animated ad, grandma put a file into the pie she was baking. Then it seems like she got arrested later that same day, and asked that the pie be brought to her while she was in jail. She knew she was going to get arrested, and baked a pie beforehand with her escape plan. Idk how Danny didn't get that EDIT: Sorry !! I was just surprised that he wrote it off so quickly, since this was Grandma's first appearance in actual jail. He just said it was boring, which is understandable after having gone through the live action ones that are much more exciting. But there was still something there!
Danny just completely missed the nail file into the pie mix in the last animated ad, that nana gets a pie brought to her in prison. Gurl that’s a shiv waiting to happen
There is such a solid community with these games, honestly. My mom has a whole Bridge Club-esqu group of international friends she's in the same team/clan as on _June's Journey,_ chatting on their Facebook group ALL the time. It's actually been really comforting for her during the pandemic. she personally never spent a DIME on free-to-play games, but other people definitely have and their ad revenue must be HUGE. I can see how games like this have their own profitable demographic. This probably sounds like an ad, but it's not I swear.
I never knew how the people in divergent had enough knives for everyone to cut their hands at that ceremony, and I now know that they went to the merge mansion to acquire them
8:37 I don't know if it's intentional but the fact she's knitting something yellow is kind of concerning when you notice that she isn't wearing anything yellow but the granddaughter is
